Im really glad that the mall was just sold and is now finally under new ownership and even better is that its owned by a respected local developer who has huge plans to upgrade the tenant mix of this mall to better fit the Charleston and West Ashley area. Citadel Mall already has the largest and nicest Belk & Dillards stores in the region and JCPenney will be replaced soon by a new anchor tenant. I also like that they have the areas only 16-screen IMAX theater which is very modern and clean. A great, large Target store with grocery department and a Starbucks inside is also an anchor along with Dicks Sporting Goods. Now that this mall has been sold and is being managed by the huge Jones Lang LaSalle organization its no doubt that huge and exciting surprises and long-needed upgrades will follow. Glad to see Citadel Mall again become the areas premier shopping destination!

The comment about being the oldest mall in the area is absolutely false! I dont have a clue why the person who posted that thinks that but shes sadly mistaken. Charleston has one mall, Citadel Mall. North Charleston has another mall, Northwoods Mall. Northwoods Mall is the oldest mall in the region built in 1972. Citadel Mall is the newest, built in 1981. Citadel Mall has much nicer, larger and better department stores than Northwoods and they carry better lines of merchandise because the market served by Citadel Mall is a higher income market. Dillards, Belk, JCPenney, Sears, Target, Dicks Sporting Goods and a brand new rue21 store join places like LOFT, Express, Victorias Secret, Bath & Body Works and the like. Hoping continued great things are in store for a more upscale Citadel Mall that better serves the demographics of this area!

Im not a shopper so thats not helping the Citadel Mall much, but I do pick up items when Im at the Mall because its convenient for me. I go to the Citadel Mall primarily to go to the Charleston Area model Railroad Club. The Club is open to the public on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. They have 3 operating layouts, O-gauge, HO and N Scale. I bring visitors there all the time because theres nothing like it anywhere in the area. Nice people there too. Very knowledgeable and helpful. People come from all over the place just to see trains operating like they did when they were kids. Its a fun place for everyone.

The owner and workers say they only take clothes that dont have stains or are not worn. I brought several things in that had never been worn and they wouldnt take them. Then I found shoes that looked exactly like mine, just as worn. And I also found clothes that had stains all over them. The employee told me they only take what they need. The old owner and employees were much nicer. I cant afford a lot of clothes bc Im disabled and not working. I thought this store was supposed to help ppl that cant afford these things....guess they dont care much.

seems that every store is going out of business. thank God you have Belk and Target... you may want to re-think how you "draw people" to the mall... took our son to see Santa there... it was $28. Ummm, its free a lot of places, and youre literally circling the drain... maybe think about making Santa free.... the goal is to get people in your doors, right?

This mall has so many empty storefronts. It so vacant and empty feeling. Aside from Target, the stores that are there appear to be knock-off or "cheap crap" stores, nothing unique or interesting. The parking lot desperately needs repainting, as well. The lines on the road encircling the mall are practically non-existent and have been for a few years now.

Had walls and a roof. Saw nothing falling in, no leaks. Felt "safe". Just empty and lots of partitioned areas under construction. I wish it had a "feature". Something like a great aviary of indoor atrium, a skatepark even, roller rink, maybe electric scooter track. Go big, velodrome!!! Got food options and typical mall trinket stores.

The selections of stores are great, the service was good. This is a great place to get clothes in Charleston if you dont want to spend a lot of money like downtown shopping. If you are a college kid without a car you can hop on the bus and get there! It is convenient and affordable, I wish theyd add a Abercrombie/Hollister. All in all great!

Great place to WALK! Has almost no stores but has what you need and a few stores have good closing down discounts currently. Notice I did not say great discounts. Just good. But its nearly empty. Its a great place to witness about the gospel of Jesus though since there is not so much hustle and bustle. If youre into that kinda thing. (:

We came to the Citadel Mall to replace some glasses washed away by some waves at the beach. This mall looks like its struggling to keep stores. One of the anchor stores is Target, which was kind of helpful. There is a nice small play area indicative of a Simon property. It appeared clean and the shops we visited were friendly.

Citadel Mall is the oldest mall in the area and really could benefit from a revitalization. The anchor stores are nice and can have some really great sale racks, but the smaller units are a lot of times empty which has allowed for some interesting local stores to pop up including a put-put, RC car track and a model train club.

Citadel mall has the last full size Sears location that will remain open in the Lowcountry (there is a hometown Sears in Moncks Corner). Target is always well lit, well stocked and not too busy unless it black Friday. Good eats can found at this mall. There is plenty of shopping to be had too, not too many closed stores.

The Citadel Mall seems to be declining like most malls in our nation. I often visit the Sesames Burgers for lunch where the beer options are usually good and the large selection on great burger options will please nearly anyone. I rarely enter the Mall to visit any other stores.

The mall area has so much potential, but needs a lot of work. Tenants keep moving out and its sad to walk around in there. At least theyre finally resurfacing the horrible parking lot. I hope they can get some new stores in there or use the space for something else.

The worse mall that I have ever been to, ever. Half the stores are closed including JC Penny and the ones that are open are terrible. Went into Dillards to find shoes all over the floor and the person who appeared to be the manager, eating a sandwich while greeting us.

The new management is really turning things around. Its obvious that efforts are being made to upgrade the tenant mix and their efforts are paying off. The new Kitchen Art store is great and they have other nicer stores like Dillards, LOFT, Express, and the like.

This mall has had a lot of trouble attracting tenants and has been going down hill for the past ten years. Target keeps it alive, but just barely, and venturing into the mall proper is a depressing tour of just how low a mall will go to keep their suites occupied.
