The previous 4 reviews of the Swarthmore Co-Op Market are all dated 2005. Things have changed at the co-op greatly since then!!! Im not sure when the renovation took place, but the Co-Op of 2008 is great. Their prepared foods are wonderful...many and varied, as well as fresh and delicious, and most are made on the premises. The meat and produce are excellent and also fresh. They carry some premium items, such a Bobbys Hummus, that are hard to find in other local stores. During summer and fall months they have a good supply of locally grown produce available daily. They sell the much lauded (and deservedly so) La Colombe coffee, Sweet Potato Bakery products, and many other specialty products that arent otherwise abundantly available in the immediate area. Admittedly things are on the expensive side, especially products you can get anywhere for often substantially less. But for deli products, prepared foods, meat, produce and specialty items of all kinds including those mentioned above and much more, The Co-op has made its way onto my regular shopping circuit, and usually several times a week. Even if just for an occasional splurge, its great for providing really good food, special or basic, anytime.

After you shop at the coop, its hard to shop anywhere else. The produce is fresh and often locally and/or organically sourced. The meat and fish are top-notch and humanely raised. There are lots of interesting specialty foods in addition to daily staples. The prepared foods and sushi are really well done, and the bulk grains and spices are great deals. Best of all, the staff are really friendly and they all work together to make sure the lines are never long.

Its my favorite place to shop. I love everything about this grocery store. The selection of locally sourced, sustainable and organic products is very good. The meat and cheese departments are the best around. The people that work there are super friendly. And the best part is that its an 8 minute walk from my house. I love this store.

The ONLY co-op in southern Delco. Out of the way location (I didnt even know about it a month ago, even though its been around for years) and the prices are a bit high, but the selection is outstanding and HEALTHY. If you are concerned about GMOs and food additives, the organic and local foods are a MUST.

This places is a pretty great little grocery store, but there are some minor niggles. Its a smaller kind of specialty grocery store with higher prices than youd see at a standard giant. $10 minimums for credit and debit. But anything they make in store is fantastic the food is overall great but pricey.

Pro tip: BYO coffee mug and it only costs $1 to fill! That said, the prices here are all over the place. Some things are expensive, and I wish their selection of prepared products was more local and organic (especially bread), but the sushi and bento take outs are definitely winners.

loved this place! a medium sized food coop with a decent selection of natural and organic products coupled with some conventional offerings as well. They have a deli and food made to go with a little cafe seating area.

I love the CO-OP. They are one of the first COOPs in the US. Its not the kind of COOP where members work and slice cheese. More like a gourmet food store/deli where you can sit outside. They throw some fun parties.
