The food/ products/groceries are definitely great. No complaints there. However, for the very first time i had a humiliating experience in this location. Last Sunday i went shopping at this store (i have been a regular customer for the past one year at this store), and was very badly treated by two girls one who was bagging and the other scanning the items. I picked up one variety of kale, that unusually, was not tied, but was loose. I did not think too much about it. I took 5 to 6 loose kale leaves. When i went to the counter, i was so badly treated by these two girls who refused to believe that in fact the kale i picked was not tied in bunch but were kept loose. One girl kept on asking me all sort of questions: where was the kale, on the wall or on cart? Was all kale like that? And finally both were so sarcastic, and said that, we will give you for free and said "you got a great deal today, dint you?". Why would i take 5 to 6 kale leaves when infact a bunch usually has only that much. Why would that be a great deal for me? If i can pay 75 dollars for my grocery, wont i be able to pay additonal 2 to 3 dollars for the kale?? They even called someone to check whether i was lying, which in fact i was not. I told them i dont want to get it for free, and that they can have it themselves. The bagging girl was so rude, that she literally threw the bag with kale to the other side. I paid for the rest, and went again to see how the Kale was: loose or tied. 3 gentlemen (workers at wholefoods) were standing at that stall, and arguing that how did the kale was loose? So there you go, i did not lie. And i dont have to. I complained to one of those workers that it was not nice the way i was treated, and he apologized for them. That was not nice.

The best I can say about the South St Whole Foods is !) it is better than most supermarkets in Philadelphia, 2) there is a lot of parking, 3) the guys at the fish counter are very nice, 4) we like the bulk section. But the quality is consistently, shockingly bad. More times than we can count, we have arrived home to find our salad mix filled with mushy, rotten clumps of leaves, our ravioli with mold on the underside, our produce tasteless. Selection is very limited when it comes to fresh produce, and we have stopped buying prepared foods because they have all proven inedible. Even staples like milk and bread are unreliable -- sometime they are in stock, sometimes not. I understand that this is a chain store, and one cannot expect top quality or selection. No Whole Foods will never be Philadelphias DiBruno Brothers, New Yorks Dean and Deluca, or San Franciscos Bi-Rite. But we would think it could offer a decent range of fresh and good-quality food. We lived in LA, San Francisco, and NY before Philly, and the Whole Foods stores in those cities were a world away from this one in terms of quality. Im not sure how the Whole Foods franchise allows such a poor quality, disorganized place as the South St Whole Foods to operate under its name. The one on Callowhill is a bit better, but still disappointing. Were hoping the rumors of a new Di Brunos with parking, or an Eataly, opening in Philly are true . . .

This was my first and most likely last time going to the WFM on 10th & South Streets. Ill make the extra trek to the one on Callowhill if I need anything from their chain. Having not been in this store before, I asked three different employees where the bulk section was. Two pushed by me, ignoring me. The third looked me up and down before rolling his eyes and muttering, "I dont have time for this. Its over there," with a vague sweeping wave of his arm to the left, which contains about five aisles, before he walked off. Thanks. Really. A fellow customer overheard my question and lent me a hand, showing me exactly where the bulk section was. Unfortunately, what I wanted wasnt available (Dehydrated Mixed Veggies) so I left. Maybe I came in during a problem day or shift change; given how many other people seem to have positive experiences here, its possible, but given that its my usual grocery shopping time, Im likely better off at another shop :)

I shop at Whole Foods very frequently as there are no decent supermarkets in the area. I love everything that I buy there and quality and customer service is great. But, I very often get charged incorrectly. I had to make it a rule for myself to check every item on the receipt before leaving the store. Now with the new baby it became impossible as I need to shop, pay and leave faster and I dont have time to read receipts. Just an example I was at this store on May 8th and I got charged for two items (organic scallions and cilantro) that were not in my cart! I also handed 3 coupons from Whole Foods coupon book to the cashier and he scanned only 2 of them. And I did not notice this until next day when I looked at the receipt. Very bad, Whole Foods. I am a loyal customer of yours and this is upsetting that you cant check out the stuff I buy without mistakes:(

After the other Whole Foods location was completely redone in the art museum area, you began to see that this store on South Street was lacking in its amenities. However, their recent and quick renovation has made it a great place for locals and passerbys to top off their needs and cravings. While already offering to its customers free parking, quality produce and a bright and spacious interior in a compact section of town, this location has added a bottle shop, more efficient check out lines and a nicer cafe to enjoy. Their cheese, deli and bakery sections have all been reorganized as well making the monotony of grocery shopping experience almost unnoticeable. As a recent home owner in the area and avid hater of grocery shopping, the renovation to this Whole Foods store truly adds to the enjoyment of coming here.

This place is amazing as far as a health food store goes. I could not find a jar of peanut butter for less then $8 though. I went in and got 3 or for things and spent $80. They have put a great extension on the grocery store... A beer section with seating. That was a good idea. The best part is there already made meals. The meals they have hot and ready and the ones made fresh for you to heat up. Love, love, love their chicken wings!!! I sure hope they were real chicken lol. Lines can be out of this world long so be mindful of the time and date you go. Make sure you look for someone giving away free samples to. There are always free samples!

Whole foods has a good product selection for health conscious folk and especially for vegans. However I felt targeted here a few times by staff and security guards. I like to take my time selecting items and reading ingredients. Last few visits that I took a long time in any one particular isle, a security guard was literally circling around us. Another time, a staff worker was hovering and kept looking us over. I felt uncomfortable and I spend good money there. Will continue to shop there but only if I have no other choice.
