The cyclist friendly Lumberville General Store is a little oasis along the river. During the day, they offer breakfast and lunch as well as a variety of pastries and coffee/tea. Remodeled in 2016, the store and its outside patio area maintain the charming, rustic appeal that brings so many to the area. A nice touch is the addition of some essentials for passing cyclists, including high-quality Continental tubes, tire irons and CO2 cartridges. I recently had the pleasure of attending the Dinner Club, convinced by my wife who had gone to a friends party there. It was remarkably good - the focaccia tasted fresh out of the oven, served with a nice, fluffy hummus. My wifes monkfish was decent, but the real standout was the spicy pork belly on cheese grits. The pork belly (naturally the most fatty portion of the pig) was a nice mixture of pork meat and unctuous fat, seared to perfection. If youve had pork belly before and like it, youre in for a treat! We finished with a peanut butter caramel pie (photo posted) which was light and delicious. Pie is a misnomer - it was served on a wafer. But this is a good thing. It was reminiscent of the peanut butter wafers I used to love as a kid. Delicious! In addition the store has a back "party room" (photo posted) which is a great setting for up to 12 people. My wife liked it so much that were having a small party there for our anniversary. What holds it back from being a 5-star establishment? A couple things the owner should know: - On several occasions, Ive ridden by the store and smelled a strong "septic" odor on the back patio. This seems to have dissipated recently, but Id be hesitant to eat back there for fear that it would come back. - The first time I came, shortly after it reopened, I had a scone, which was the worst Ive ever had - it had no flavor and tasted like the baker forgot to add sugar. I still havent purchased any baked goods again for fear that my $3-$5 would be wasted and since Im a good baker myself, I typically bring my own baked goods when I ride. Ill update my review in the future if I find the store has eliminated the odor and improved their baking.

Given all this little store has endured over the past 5 years: three major river floods, the forcible removal of its long-held title as US Post Office (and the attendant traffic that brought as the communitys gathering place), and the closure of Rt. 32 after the floods made it impassable. Im just thrilled to see it back in business. But bless Fred Thompson and crew for bringing it back from the dead! Now you can enjoy the high quality of food as prepared for the famous Black Bass restaurant across the street in your shorts and swimsuits after a hike, bike or tube down the road, canal towpath or river. They create all their own bakery on premises and dont even THINK about missing the cream of mushroom soup (real cream, five kinds of shrooms - yum!). Service as good as it can be in a small deli atmosphere thats always overwhelmed with customers who are willing to wait a bit because its worth the wait. The store is kept clean, well-stocked and ready to rock.

I have been going to Lumberville General Store since 1978. The store has always held BUCK COUNTY charm and elegance; a blend of Colonial/Revolutionary architecture, powerful natural scenery, and a community of diverse culinary assets. The store is one of the river gems along the trek from New York to Philadelphia - not just today, but in history. Its place along the Delaware River is nestled among a quaint village of homes, Inns, a lumberyard, and a quarry. Famous artists have hailed from its environs. The store has recently been refurbished but I t has kept its quaint river charm and historic authenticity. The food continues to be quite fresh, upscale, and delightful. Cooked and baked on site. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The new makeover has opened up more of the rooms for eating and meeting. Out back there are tables and bikes for rent. Make it a point to stop. Walk across the footbridge. Find a new home along the River.

I write very few reviews, but their "Supper Club" requires comment. My wife and I have dined together nearly every weekend for 45 yrs - all over the world. Riding home we tried to think of worse places weve eaten but could only come up with one (and they tried to serve us rancid prime rib and argued it was fine). Here we got stale "foccacia", tasteless hummus, brisket more than 2/3 fat (that I had to send back - something Ive done only a couple times ever), burnt grilled corn, inedible strawberry shortcake. My wife was served a skewer of pure pork belly fat with two small shrimp and barely cooked bacon as an entree - both entrees were smaller than most restaurants appetizers. Skip this place and visit one of your favorites. Otherwise, the servers were pleasant.

The atmosphere is very rustic and welcoming. The service has always been fast and friendly. The food is delicious and the portions are just right. Great location right by the Delaware Canal State Park with outside seating area and a bike rack. They also rent bikes so you can ride the canal. My only complaint is the baked goods. They look appetizing but are usually dry or flavorless which is a stark contrast to the rest of the food.

Its my favorite local place, and I have lunch there at least twice a week. Wonderful sandwiches, homemade chili, and the most delicious homemade soups. Sitting by the wood stove will take the chill out of your bones on a cold day. The ladies who run the place make you feel at home. Oh, I forgot...they do the baking for the Black Bass, across the street. Try a slice of the vegetarian meat loaf.

Nice historic building, great outdoor area, and really good food. The bees were a little frustrating, Id eat inside if ordering pancakes...
