For the past several years I have visited Thomas Macalusos bookstore whenever I am in Chester County -- which is, perhaps, two or three times a year -- and have always enjoyed browsing in a quiet, pleasant, and rewarding atmosphere. I have acquired any number of interesting volumes, as well as maps, from this shop. The stock is in the middle range, in terms of volume, but it is always being refreshed, the quality is high, and the prices are eminently fair. I tend to be a bit reserved myself, but Mr Macaluso has always been perfectly friendly, even affable. If youre in the vicinity, or have just been to Baldwins Book Barn in nearby West Chester, I would strongly recommend adding Thomas Macaluso to your itinerary.

I help people downsize for a living. Thomas Macaluso clearly loves books and is particularly helpful with rare books and anything with Quaker provenance. I have brought books to him from my clients and he has always been fair and informative about their value. He has turned away books I have brought but has always educated me on where I may be able to find a home for them. Many of my clients are simply seeking a good "home" for their stuff, Thomas writes a check direct to the client and nobody has ever had a problem. I recommend this business as a real "old style" bookstore experience.

I picked up some amazing maps in this place this weekend from the late 1800s. I look forward to spending a small fortune at this place over the next few years. If you are into cool, old stuff, check this place out. I had a different experience than the reviewer below. Tom, the owner, was pretty helpful. I guess everyone has a bad day every once in a while?

I am not a book collector, but just liked the looks of the place, so we went in. Had a great chat with the owner, and spent some time browsing. In addition to books, he also has some really cool maps from 1700s and 1800s, as well as pictures and engravings. Highly recommended!

The older gentleman running the store was very rude when I asked about a specific rare book I was looking for, then he shuffled to the back room mumbling. Unless you have a doctoral degree visibly stapled to your chest, I doubt hell be much help.

An amazing store run by an amazing guy. Very much a specialty store for those into older books. You wont find manga or modern novels but old and sometimes even original copies signed by the offer of books as far as the 1600s. Truly worth seeing
