I was ecstatic when this shop opened. As a former employee of the store which rhymes with "NameDrop," I was stoked to see an independent game shop which sold vintage hardware and software where I wouldnt have to deal with any corporate bee-ess. After actually visiting Game Junkie, my enthusiasm was severely curbed. The store does some things right. It is the only retail location I can think of where you can purchase vintage games without resorting to the Internet. The selection is fantastic, covering everything from Atari 2600, NES, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, and everything in between. Even obscurities such as Master System and Virtual Boy are available here. The store has an appealing display window and good interior decoration too, with cool video game art adorning the walls. They even have an awesome tabletop coin-op machine with dozens of games playable(Burgertime? Hell yes!). But all these great aspects are overshadowed by poor customer service. When you approach Game Junkie, you will likely see a man resembling the auctioneer from Storage Wars smoking in front of the entrance. Even as a smoker myself, this turns me off. Move a few feet away from the door man. Jeez. They also seem to be running a daycare center within the store. I assume these are the owners children, which is fine but they can be a bit rambunctious at times and it wouldnt hurt to rein them in a bit. My first time there, I was simply looking for a pre-paid Playstation Network card. The guy told me, "they dont make those, you can only get them on Xbox. PS3 is credit card only." This statement revealed that he either didnt know his stuff or was lying. My second visit, I bought a new Xbox game and a 1 year Xbox Live card, a $120 transaction. He said, "Thats it? Thats all youre buying?" He didnt use a humorous, folksy tone but sounded legitimately peeved that I wasnt buying more. At this point I decided I was done with this place, but later I tagged along with a friend who was looking for a certain game. When he asked the clerk if she had it in stock, she said "No, we dont. I have it at home and its a really awesome game, you wish you had it, but no." Her tone wasnt at all jokey, it was sarcastic and dismissive. So, long story made even longer, I took my business back to the corporate chain I used to work for. You still have to deal with up selling and reservation pitches there, but at least the staff are friendly and make me feel welcome. One last thing to mention, their main business seems to be console repair. I always go through licensed repairmen if I need this done so I cant comment on the quality of service in this area.

Classic Game Junkie where to begin! Heard about this store around early 2010 and I thought meh it sounds like some gametrader store. Boy, I was wrong! This store even as I post this review, has an AMAZING selection. Whether youre a more modern gamer of games for the PS3,360, Wii/WiiU, a retro gamer from systems such as the SNES,Atari 2600, and the Sega Genesis. This store will have you covered. With walls and shelves of loose and boxed video games reminiscent of video game stores such as the now defunct Funcoland, and rental stores such as Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. Its beyond rare to get a nostalgic feeling such as the one youll get here. One thing that makes this store more unique is that they can do repairs for consoles. And I dont mean only Xbox red rings, and basic issues like that. But for any console that you own, they will make sure you walk out happy with a working system. As a game collector, I try to make sure my games are 100% clean and fail sale, but sometimes I run into an issue that even looking on a forum cant help me with. However thanks to this awesome store, I have everything working to the best quality. As far as prices go for video games sold here, they are very fair and usually the cheapest you would find anything on Ebay if not lower. They will make sure youll get the best price possible for any game you wish to purchase ,even with retro game prices soaring. As a bonus they will make sure your game works before you leave the store very much like Funcoland used to do, which other game stores should enforce. Now some people may say that "the workers are creepy and stingy " or something along those lines. That is far from true. The people apart of this store have been nothing short of very caring and helpful to me, both in and out the store. Open up to them, and they shall open up back with open arms. Now they have a lot of consoles and what you have its to fix, so have patience when giving something to be repaired, also make sure you take very good care of your consoles. In conclusion Classic Game Junkie is the diamond in the rough in terms of gaming stores. Appealing to video game fans of the golden age of gaming to the current age. The People behind the counter at this store have at least some knowledge of what theyre selling if they arent they wont waste your time pretending they do unlike some other gaming stores out there. With that they will make sure youre walking out with what you paid for and that youre satisfied.Classic Game Junkie and the wonderful people who work here have never dissapoint me ever, minus the fact theres only one in existence.

This store is video game Valhalla. Speaking from personal experience I am at this store once a week minimum. And for good reason. This store is incredible. Lets start with the selection. Their inventory is akin to a museum of video game history except pretty much everything is for sale. You name a system they prolly have games for it. NES, SNES, famicom, virtual boy, n64, GameCube, genesis, Saturn, 32x, Atari, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox one, PS1, PS2,PS3, PS4, game boy, DS, 3DS, neo geo, PC, turbo grafx, PSP, PS vita, Wii, Wii U, you name they prolly have stuff for it. And its not just the games. They have systems AND offer warranties on them. And accessories for pretty much most of the systems they sell. And since their inventory is constantly receiving new trade ins theres good reason to come back on a regular basis to see what new treasures have come in. And even if you dont need any actual gaming systems or game they have a large amount of gamer swag and gear to deck out any game room or entertainment center. Next lets talk services. You know how you can reserve the newest games at major retailers? Yeah they got that too. Including midnight release openings that are always fun to attend. They also offer repairs on most systems and devices (cell phones included) that are done quickly and reliably. Games as well can be refurbished, resurfaced, or professionally cleaned. When I recently got my hands on a particularly rare game they were they only ones I would let touch this game to clean it up. And I live within a 20 minute drive of 4 retro game stores. And lastly the people at the store. This is the one thing I cannot praise enough about this store. The store is primarily run by a family who chief among them is the owner who is the most friendly and helpful guy you will ever meet. Going to this store and talking to him is like going to your friends house to play video games and talk about whatever you feel like. Him and his family and co workers are funny, friendly, real, and above all else knowledgable. Anytime I have questions, I can always count on someone there knowing what I need to know. Its obvious to anyone who goes here frequently that video games are these peoples passion and this store is a labor of love I cant find anywhere. I know this review is long, but honestly, I am a customer for life at this business and they definitely deserve a try.
