My husband and I went here on 2/13/16-we had already purchased our vouchers online for the beginners skiing lessons prior to arriving-saved us about $10 and some time upon arrival. I definitely recommend getting there at least 45min before the lesson time as there is some paperwork and equipment rental logistics to get done before going out to the snow. This was our first time skiing and our instructor Valentino was awesome! He was very patient an informative-the lesson was about 1hr and 45min-well worth it if you have never gone skiing before. Definitely recommend going in the appropriate attire, ski pants, ski googles, heavy duty gloves and something to cover your face-it is cold out there!! The one downfall we would say is that the food is extremely over priced- we paid $30 for two bottled waters, two hamburgers, two fries and one order of chicken nuggets-all in a school cafeteria setting and the food wasnt that great. However we did notice there seemed to be a restaurant there too but it was quite hidden-perhaps next time. The slopes were great! Other than that it was a very fun new experience for us and we hope to come again soon.

The mountain is nice for beginners to intermediates. The blacks arent too difficult. They are more like a dark blue trail than black. I took my 6 year old son who loves to follow me. They have a lot of little paths that go off the trail and through a few trees before coming back to the trail. I love doing that and he loved following me through them. Price wise -- A little pricey for what they offer but thats what all ski mountains charge. Make sure to look for discounted tickets on Liftopia or somewhere before going to any mountain. We just need lift tickets, so I cant tell you about the rentals. The food was horribly OVER priced. $4.75 for a Vitamin water???? Are you serious. The trails are good with decent time spent skiing down them. Good coverage. They had an amateur terrain park and a more advance terrain park. All of the lifts take a long time, except the express was fast but obviously had the longest line. Parking was okay.

Disclaimer: I rated Shawnee 5 stars only because I saw that its average was low and the place is much better than the average would make it seem. It also seems to me that the poor reviews are from chronic malcontents. Heres the deal...Shawnee Mountain is very cheap. Lift tickets, rentals, lessons are cheaper than most. Its even cheaper if you download and print coupons before you go. Because its cheap, you should not go there and expect a Vail resort. The runs are not particularly challenging and they can be very icy and slick. Again, remember that its the Poconos and cheap. I have brought my nephews to Shawnee to train them before taking them to VT or West. All of them learned their basics well enough at Shawnee and that was really all I was asking for. Other: The ski instructors work well with kids. The food courts not fantastic. The restaurant is slightly better.

I signed up my daughter for the meal plan and the package for ski lessons and the lift. Without discussing with my daughter I signed her up for the meal plan as well for $40. This was a mistake and the same day that I charged I called them back explaining that I should not have done this given that she has food allergies and a sensitive stomach. The Director for Group Sales informs me that Shawnee will not refund me the $40 even though I tried getting refunded the SAME day I processed the charge and that instead I can get a gift card for anything at the Resort. Give me a break - the ski trips wont start for 6 weeks and they have nothing to lose by crediting me back my $40. Terrible customer service - I hav

Great resort for the beginners. The main benefit I have with this resort it is very close to home. So I can go skiing at any time. The mountain isnt really high, but for the beginners like me it doesnt really matter. Everything is organized well and ability of the resort to process over 6000 visitors per day is a testament to that (I asked) . They have an excellent program for the kids to learn to ski and my son is still going to their development program now for the 3rd year. Overall I think they have good grasp on everything just wish food and drink was a littl cheaper but I guess I cant complain about that since you pay for convinience...

While I was there during my visit I brought my 12 pigeons. Now you may be asking your self "why would you do that?" or "what were you thinking?" well there is an answer for that. I brought the pigeons there to see if they would be interested in using these birds to deliver mail to the residence. Not only would this help them save tons of money but this would only add to the experience that you get there. As I went to go make my sale a staff stooped me and asked what I was doing. I told him and then he began to try and take the birds from me. The whole encounter ended with me losing all of my birds.

This was a great spot for beginners and advanced folks alike. Theyre not pretentious and are super friendly. We went to camelback and Shawnee both over the same weekend. We found Camelback to be much more expensive with an unfriendly staff. At Shawnee it was just the oposite: The staff was great, helpful and very courteous. The instructors were enthusiastic, and overall the runs were fun. The cafeteria was decent but reasonably priced for a resort, with free WiFi for those who want to warm up and watch for a while. Were definately going back and maybe getting season passes.

My first time skiing was on this mountain. I didnt sign up for any lessons and kind of just went at it. The bunny slope is definitely a great spot to start and get the hang of how to control your directions. The green and blue slopes were very nice and a bit taxing on the body if youre not well adjusted. There were quite a few closed slopes and even icy ones on the green and blur area but that wasnt a turn off. Staff is very nice, but some of the customers were very racist. I recommend they try to attract a more friendly demographic. Had fun overall.

Love this ski area. There is even a bar at the top of the slope! They have great food and drinks (very expensive tho) our bill for 4 people came out to $95.00!!! If you like Arnold Palmers your need to get a firefly sweet tea with lemonade, Its so addicting. There are a good amount of trails and tubing Is super fun. Ive come here twice, the first time I had a blast but this time it was still very warm out so there wont much snow and there were grass patches and mud which made it difficult but regardless we still had fun

First timer here and took the beginners package. Was put in a group of 10 and then another guy joined the group. The instructor was not very first time friendly and all the others were previous skiers, so I had a very hard time. With those many people in the group I only got like 5 chances to ski in the lesson and fell every single time. The instructor was not able to teach the technique properly to me. V. high instructor to student ratio.
