If you want to attract shoppers youll plant many full grown trees for shade and cover from the rain 9 months of the year. Will there be space for shops to open which are not the 4 already listed on your webpage? Families utilized the Movies 12 discount theater more than ANY other place there;you should really bring it back if you want them to come. All the employees were saying that Burlington Coat Factory would open,I think that would be perfect. Panera is great for healthy food, there needs to be a Jamba Juice or Orange Julius added too. Why a Hobby Lobby when we already have 2 Craft Stores on this street???? How about a gift shop like what Spencers used to be in the 90s, a cross between a gag store and The Sharper Image? I dislike this concept for the renovation, unless it will ALSO include an indoor area, since the reason we ever went was to walk around, send the teens there for entertainment and keep them out of trouble as well as safe! It was THE PLACE for teens to go that I trusted. I just hope it will still be family oriented and sensible for our rainy Oregon.

This place needs to be reported to somebody! It was well over 80 degrees inside the theatre! Even though we had bought our tickets 2 hours early my family had to be broken up to find seating. After the movie I was sweating, but worse than that, my mother it turns out had passed out from the heat, she woke up when people started leaving the theater; outside on our way out she complained and was told she should have come and said something and that they would have turned up the air conditioning, and that of course it would get warm from all the people in the theater; if they knew there were a lot of people didnt they think to turn up the air conditioner beforehand? The manager gave her a half assed apology and offered her tickets but would not issue a refund! I strongly recommend you GO SOMEWHERE ELSE to see a movie! We are new to the area so we didnt know where any other theaters were at the time, we didnt imagine wed end up watching a movie in deplorable conditions!

The extensive remodel is almost complete. Already a number of new stores have opened. The mall looks way better than ever. Cabelas is the best sporting goods store in our area, and the Target has great prices on everything. The Target pharmacy is excellent with fast service and great prices too. The theaters at Valley River Center are a total rip off, their prices are so high in comparison to Cinemark 17 at Gateway. Matinees are $7 at VRC, compared to only $4.50 at Gateway. Evening is $9 at VRC, only $6.25 at Gateway. Way better senior movie prices at Gateway too. Mondays it is only $3.75 all day, and even the senior evening price at Gateway other days is only $4.50 Hometown Buffet is indeed a great place to eat at. Their lunches and weekend breakfasts are only $7.99 Good food with tremendous selection. And the new WalMart Grocery Store has great prices. I now do most of my grocery shopping there.

It was great when it was all an indoor mall. Now Im not sure what it is. A third is now only accessible from the outside, the middle group is connected to each other only in the middle, and the other third is still the old mall but not connected to the other parts. The food court is gone, and a bunch of shops popped up in the parking lot. No parking area in front of any structure is the same as any other, and the one for Cabellas is the worst. Compact car parking only for a store whose customers primary drive big pickup trucks. Really? This Malls redesign is the biggest disaster I have ever seen. Did anyone tell the out-of-state owners that it rains alot in Oregon?

Just passing through, so I cant speak as a regular visitor, whose results may be entirely different. Because of the mall arrangement, it was very difficult for me to find the store I needed to visit. I think that if on-site mapping were better and the anchor shops (e.g., Ashley Homespaces, Kohls) had better ingress/egress (or at least improved signage!) to the smaller shops, this would work as an outdoor-entrance mall. As it is, its too easy for a tourist (like myself) or directionally-challenged customer to run into a dead end or get lost. BTW yall know that that "Shoppes" spelling is pretentious, yes?

The remodeled, updated, and new stores are great. There is much more available than used to be. There is a section that is still enclosed with the old mall building. All other shops are more like a "strip mall". I would prefer an inside area to walk in (its cold/rainy quite a lot in Springfield!). But overall, the update is great. I suppose a lot of the stores are ones people might go in just the one store (without having to walk through/past others). There is no longer a food court (as its no longer a mall). But there are so many great restaurant choices available.

Whose great idea was it to take Springfields only covered mall and make it an old fashioned outside mall? It freaking rains 10 months of the year here!... and the shops cannot accommodate electric carts except for Target. ... then they group all handicap parking together, so if you walk with an assistance you kill or injure yourself getting to the stores! Great thinking, Gateway Shoppes! Get your money back from the architect you paid for this. Valley River, I would go to you but you charge for bags and limit the electric cart to 2 hours only! Shame on you all.

The mall isnt connected all the way through. You have to go outside and around in order to access both parts of the mall. There are also a lot of empty shops, but there is a lot of construction so maybe one day they will all be filled in. Usually fairly empty other than the old ladies that go walking in the mall for exercise, but honestly youd be better walking outside. There would be a lot more to look at. Also no food court which is something that most malls have.

Steer clear, unless youre going to Target, Cabelas, or the cheap theater. This used to be the "every mans" mall, with affordable shops and good food. Now theres less than 1/4 of the shops left (maybe 9 businesses left open? Thats counting the big name stores, too) and the whole place is in shambles. The current plan is for massive renovation that (supposedly) includes an outdoor food court. Not sure the new owners know that it RAINS in Oregon 70% of the year.

I want the old Gateway Mall back!! I used to love that mall and now customers have to walk outside in the rain to get to the stores. I thought the idea of having an indoor mall was to remain inside and avoid the rain. Now customers have to go in and out of stores to get to all of them. There are new stores now and some are great, but I wont return because the layout is the same as going downtown and shopping there. Really disappointed in the remodeling.

Was better before they "improved" it, in my opinion. I liked being able to walk to all the shops from inside. The stores now are more of the "usual" stores you can see across the country. Only one really unique store is left, that I can see - Crafters Alley. But hey, if you like going to a mall that is nearly identical to one youd see in Arizona, Minnesota, California, Texas, Florida, or just about any other state, youll be pleased with The Shoppes.
