It is now Saturday, one day after writing my review. I have had contact with my salesman who agreed with me that only ONE inquiry was authorized by me. He told me it was a finance mngr. who continued on hitting inquiry after inquiry. I am encouraged by the salesmans honesty, and am supposed to get a call from the finance manager later today. W/UPDATE AGAIN UPDATE AS OF 3:23PM - SATURDAY, THE 23RD OR JANUARY 2015 ABOVE *************************************** I have bought three cars from this dealership with no problem at all. Using the same salesman as I have in the past, we both EXPLICITLY agreed that my application for credit would ONLY be sent to NMAC, where my current loan is. I dont want to go with anyone else. Agreed. After a couple of hours, he came back to me and told me that due to something I had nothing to do with, I had fallen out of the credit tier I was in and that he would have to call in a favor. No problem. I know that scores change all the time. I currently have zero interest for five years, no payment down and am happy with my upper end car. I have plenty of money and adequate credit to buy the new car- which is an upgrade from my car, but I really liked it after test driving it. So, he told me he would probably know something by Monday. No problem, I thought. I got home an opened my email and there was this huge number of credit alerts that my credit had been pulled by 8 different places in three hours. I thought to myself, what the heck... turns out, someone at the dealership shopped the loan with 8 lenders aside from NMAC (which was not even open as they were on the east coast). So, they continued to shop my loan even after submitting it to NMAC. This resulted in 7 additional hard inquiries on my credit files - all of them. It dropped every score I have 18 points in three hours. Plus, it makes me look like I actually applied for credit all over the place. They are in no way combined and I was a mortgage underwriter for 25 years - so I know what Im talking about. They were all separate banks, lenders, it looked like I went to the mall and applied at every store there was. It was crazy. So, now, because they continued to shop my deal after submitting it to NMAC and just waiting for an answer, it dropped my scores so low, NMAC will not do the loan now. Can you believe that? Because they simply couldnt wait three days. Oh, did I mention that it was explicitly understood that I was ONLY authorizing ONE - ONE credit inquiry to be pulled by NMAC. Yes, I know what Im talking about. It is a shame, because until now, the sales side had 5 stars. Since they have caused my credit cards to react with higher APRs - Im assuming some credit line decreases will be next, and oh, that mortgage I was hoping to get this summer- yeah, well, thats not going to happen either. Try as you might, your explanation will NOT over-ride credit scores. It doesnt matter if its not your fault - you will pay the price for at least a full two years- if not longer. And, its like a domino effect. Once one credit card sees another one take negative action like decreasing a credit line, they will do the same thing to spare them the loss that is inevetibly coming because your credit scores dropped 18 points in one day. It makes me look like I was trying to load up. Get a bunch of credit, use it, and not pay for it. Its awful. This has negatively impacted me beyond repair. I give the service department five stars though. And, I doubt thats going to change anytime soon. So, even if you agree verbally - or even in writing- Id take an attorney and a notary with me if you plan on buying a car from this dealer. Extremely mishandled. Im a (would have been) fourth time client. But, due to this error in judgement on their part and not honoring our verbal agreement which was nothing short of extremely explicit, I walk away with credit that is bruised, APRs that will be increasing on all my credit cards, and not the car I wanted. Thanks a lot Power Nissan. You should take a morals class from your service department.

We drove 125 miles to shop here at Power Nissan of Salem and I am very glad we did. I would highly recommend that anyone shopping for a Nissan should check with these folks before spending money anywhere else. I am 54 years old and this was the best car buying experience I have ever had including cars I witnessed my parents buying when I was a kid. I first called and Spoke to Alex Santana. He quoted me some very good prices so we decided to drive over the mountains and come take a look. When doing this in the past with other dealers, once I walked in the door, the deals were not as good in real life as I was told over the phone. Not the case with Alex and Power Nissan. I was offered the same good prices in person as over the phone. We even wanted a different color than the advertised cars. Alex gave us several choices every bit as good as the low priced cars in their news paper add. He was very personable and not pushy at all. I kept waiting for something to slip in and make the deal get expensive but I was pleasantly surprised to complete the whole deal and Alex did all he could to keep the price down and get us the options we wanted. We did spend a little more than the cheapest car in the Dealer but that was because we decided at such affordable prices that we could ad a few extras. We bought the car from Alex but I must also note that his associate Miguel showed us around the evening before when Alex was off work. He understood completely that I promised ALex that I was going to buy from him. Even so, Miguel took time to show us some cars and made us feel very welcome. We also worked with William Galvez at signing of the contracts. He was very friendly and helpful at walking us through all the paperwork. I also spoke on the phone with Byron Galvez and he was very helpful and answered all of my questions. The whole crew in the sales department was very very nice to do business with. One couple shopping even left their 15 day old baby with the Receptionist while they took a test drive. That should give you an idea how comfortable people feel when doing business with this Dealership. If you are tired of going home feeling like you just took a beating after purchasing a car then I suggest you call or stop by Power Nissan. At least give these guys a chance to beat any price offered anywhere else. You wont be sorry. Robert Graydon

My catalytic converters on the passenger side of my 2005 Frontier Crew Cab went bad. I got them replaced by an independent mechanic, and apart from increased oil consumption, my truck seemed OK. Three months later my truck started misfiring and burning oil by the gallon! It was in the throes of death when I limped it into Power Nissan in Salem. I thought my engine might be shot….But HOW?? Master Technician- James, and Service Writer- Eric Nuñez went to work on helping me out. It didn’t take long before James had figured out, by the RESIDUE ON THE SPARKPLUGS, that bits and pieces of the OLD catalytic converters had been sucked into the engine, wreaking havoc on it! An unprofessional, or dicey mechanic may have tried to take advantage of the situation by telling me that there was no fixing this engine, and then try buying my truck off me for far below market value. This was NOT the case with James. He said “I can’t make any promises but I’m going to try to do everything I can to bring some life back to this for you.” He took the time to explain in detail, and in laymans terms exactly what he was going to do. For the better part of a week, James did just that……and MUCH more!! When I got my truck back, not only had oil consumption been drastically reduced, and the misfiring gone. This is the HONEST TRUTH…… It drove with the raw power and cat-like responsiveness that it had when I drove it off the lot, brand new in 2005! I was gob-smacked to put it lightly! Running it through its 6 gears, I almost had to reacquaint myself with my own truck! I NEED my truck and I owe it to Power Nissan for delivering their absolute BEST! Everyone from receptionist to James’s manager were more than helpful, more than nice, and quite truthfully, more than I ever expected. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Service Dept. to anyone with a Nissan that needs the expert touch! James shared with me that between the small group of technicians there, there was well over 100 years of experience. These days, it’s not often you find THAT kind of experience in one spot, and THAT level of dedication to doing their jobs, to THAT level of excellence! The bar has been set! THANK YOU! - Steve W.
