DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ONLY WANT A TRADITIONAL STYLE TATTOO!! I had a consultation to meet with the artist to go over what I was wanting and to make sure it was something they felt comfortable with tattooing and drawing. I was told I had to put $100 deposit down to ensure my appointment time. This artist ASSURED me they were comfortable tattooing what I wanted and had no hesitations. I show up for my appointment and was informed that what I wanted was not “do-able” and would not “look good”. The drawing I was shown was not even a finished drawing. My other option that was “drawn” up was nothing at all what I was wanting. I tried multiple different suggestions to see if we could come to a compromise on tattooing. I did not get very much input or creative suggestions from the artist to help me out. Isn’t that your job as an artist, to come up with ideas to make the tattoo look as good as possible for what the client is wanting? An hour later we came to what I thought would be an agreement, but a totally different tattoo than I had originally met with her about getting. She made it very clear that that was not anything that we had talked about and that now I would need to reschedule. So I rescheduled and, when I came in for my now second time, the drawing was hardly anything we had discussed. It was a very simple and plain tattoo, no shading involved and just a very basic outline of the tattoo. I even asked if we could add more and tweak it a little. I was told no. Now. this isn’t my first tattoo. Every other artist has fully drawn up, colored, shaded, and added detail where needed to show me what exactly we would be tattooing. I was very disappointed in the lack of effort put into “my tattoo”. At this point I knew we weren’t a good fit for each other and I would rather not get tattooed. I asked if I could get any of my deposit back and I was told “nope, I keep the deposit for my time drawing those up”. I asked if there was any way we could work something out, even half of the deposit back, something to be “fair”. And that’s when I was told I could pick a “trinket” off the wall and get that tattooed for my $100 but she was NOT able to draw me anything else. Great customer service! NOT! If the artist is not able to tattoo what I am wanting, how is that my fault and why should I not get my money back for something she ASSURED me she could do BEFORE I put a deposit down. Unless you are wanting a very traditional style tattoo, nothing realistic, I DO NOT RECOMMEND Historic Tattoo.

Lisa marie at historic tattoo has done many of my tattoos....and boyfriends tattoos and now some of my friends tattoos. I highly recommend her. I ALWAYS leave happy and she ALWAYS does an amazing job. I love her artwork and style and everything she does is spot on to what I want. She listens to me and gives me her professional opinion and is always telling me what is realistic and not when it comes to my ideas. All of my work has been done by Lisa Marie. At this point I have gotten 12 tattoos done by her. I plan to get more work done by her in the future. I have recommended Lisa to many people as well. I send Lisa my reference pictures and describe what I would like. Lisa gives me her professional opinion about what would look best but always takes my thoughts into account. Every time I come into the shop Im excited about what shes made for me. Lisa executes exactly what I had wanted. Lisa is an incredible tattooer. I trust her completely.

I had my first tattoo done by Craig about a year ago and I cant wait to come back! I could not love my tattoo more. Craig is friendly, knowledgable, and beyond talented. So proud to have his artwork on my shoulder. I would recommend him to anyone, especially customers interested in traditional-style tattoos. I live in Seattle where we have a pretty great selection of artists, but my sisters, mom and I all travelled down to Portland to see Craig. You cant beat him.

I have received more compliments on the arm Clae beautified than on any other piece which is besides the fact that its my favorite as well. With more than 50 hours of work done I would recommend Clae above ALL others. I have seen Craigs work as well and it is highly respectable. The shop is gorgeous and very comfortable. I only regret not having had Clae do all my work. Cant wait to return for more! Dave

I agree with everyone else, the ratings speak for themselves. Id like to mention although Claes quality work is always mentioned Craig Brown does some amazing work as well. He opened me up to different ideas, something other artist dont care to do. There is a reason for their higher rates, and trust me the quality is well worth it.

This shop has a genuine feel and all the tattooers that work their do excellent work. I have been tattooed by Craig, Bradley and a few other guys that have come and gone. These dudes all rock and care very much about each tattoo that they do.
