I absolutely love Bales. If you love to cook or bake on a budget (yes, a budget), this is the place for you. However if you are ON a budget and dont cook/bake often, this place is probably not for you. Bales tries hard to be a generic grocery store and standout speciality at the same time. However, anything ready to eat, premade or frozen will be 10%-40% more compared to other stores, it just cant compete. However, what Bales is very succesful at is good prices on fresh, perishable foods and its variety/bulk condiments. Meat comes at a great price IF you buy in bulk and dairy has a huge variety...but check do expirations dates (My only complaint!!!). Produce...? Outstanding! Same if not lower prices compared to other stores and amazingly fresh product, always. They have a huge variety of condiments for any type of cooking, and even a place to refill spices. If youre a kosher organic gluten free 10$ bag of pasta type of person, well they have that too...Ill pass. Is Bales succesful at everything? Not at all. Its perfect for me though, I save money using them and the staff along overall experience is great. They would probably do better if they got rid of half the store and focused with what they are good at.

I really like Bales. I might be a bit biased as the store was part of my childhood. I used to go there to return soda cans and read magazines as a kid. But if you want quality at a reasonable price, their deli is hard to beat. I find myself stopping by regularly on my way into work to pick up lunch as Ive become tired of the cafeteria food at work. Their meat and seafood section is just as good as Whole Foods or Market of Choice. The post office inside the store is also handy.

Nice local discounty grocery store with lots and lots of floor space. An expansive wine selection features a well curated international stock and plenty of tasty local vintages. From a quick glance I feel like prices here are a bit less than the local chains, and the selction was solid. I deliver wine to every local chain so the general feeling of space is nice compared to other stores. If its in your area its worth a visit, even to compare.

Always a very friendly and welcoming place. One-time we received a bad watermelon and returned it; they gave us our money back and apologized! Better prices than the nearby Market of Course. They even have a fun candy shop for the kids. Great place!

Staff are okay but prices are on the inflated side. This place honestly feels more like an overextended convenience store than a supermarket and the combination of sheer size and emptiness of the place doesnt really help get rid of that feeling.

This is a very good grocery store. They have a few specialty items you cant find at Safeway or Winco. There prices are fairly competitive. They have a very good Cheese and wine selection. Inside the store is a full service Post Office.

We live between Market of Choice, Safeway and Bales. Bales is only 2 minutes closer but well stocked enough for us to constantly shop here. The prices are right and the fresh orange juice is top notch.

The grocery store is the closest and best store to the town houses between barnes/cornell/cedar hills. There is a post office in here that requires cash, though.
