I scheduled consultation with Jacob Redmond in January and got my first session done 3 months later. I had ZERO tattoos before going to Atlas. Jacob was able to take my vision and bring it to the next level. It was MORE than I expected. He blew my mind! I wanted something big for my first one so I went full sleeve. Jacob did an amazing job and was awesome through the entire process. He worked quickly and precisely. It took around 15 hours to get my entire sleeve done over the course of 8 months. The shop and staff were fantastic! The fellow artists all have a great sense of humor and comrade. It was cool to see the other artists look at each others work as if they were customers. The wait may be long for some of the artists but it is worth it! I highly recommend getting work done here by ANY of the artists. The pricing is on the higher end from what Ive seen at other shops but it is worth it. You pay for quality! I will definitely be back! Thank you Atlas for an awesome experience!

1st of all I cant believe how fortunate I was to be a walk- in @atlastattoo as a complete ingénue many years ago when it was located on Broadway . Then for my luck to continue & have @dangilsdorf as my very 1st tattoo artist! Was & still is an awesome tat & a great experience . I held onto Dans info & when they moved to the Albina location , I made another appointment , so on. I have several tattoos now, all done by the same great artist, Dan Gilsdorf. I trust him explicitly. Dan has a heart of gold, he makes you feel solace, warm & welcome hes not hubris, ignorant nor arrogant, like a lot of younger inexperienced so called "artists" out there. Atlas is Dan & he surrounds himself w/ good peeps. Dan is good peeps. When my son Aaryan comes with me & Aaryan always has a ton of questions, Dan is so kind to answer every single question. If you are a 1st timer or well versed in the art, you will find Atlas the best place in The Great NW , to get some ink.

I went into Atlas Tattoo last week and had a great time. I was visiting from out of town and can’t wait to come back for more work. As always it’s a busy shop, but its worth the wait. Too many new shops have sprung up in Portland since my last visit and have no identity. All these new shops feel like Starbucks. Atlas Tattoo in Portland has an old school tattoo approach. The music selection in the shop will keep you on your toes, they only deal in CASH, Walk-ins on Sunday (1st come/1st served). The laughter and conversation can sometimes get loud and colorful. If you are looking for the best tattooist in PDX, go to ATLAS. The artist here are able to do original work without hesitation and never disappointed me.The shop is clean, the style is traditional and the service was exceptional.

Went here last year on my birthday to get matching tattoos with my sister. She had previously looked at Coreys art work and thought he was a good artist.. probably only posted the good tattoos he ever did. The mandalas we got are completely unsymmetrical. Some sections are undone and look so bad. He was rushed the entire time trying to get out of there. He had told me he would set another appointment for my shading and just went ahead and did it then both tattoos were rushed and not alike... For my first tattoo I thought it was normal now seeing all my other friends tattoos I could cry looking at mine. Want to get it removed or covered up. Over all I cant speak about the other artists here but was really disappointed by my tattoo and my sisters.

Atlas is home for me when it comes to tattoos. Ive been lucky enough to have five tattoos done by Lew Hess, and I adore every one of them. Each one becomes my new favorite. As a bonus, I get constant compliments on them all. People have even asked to take photos of my tattoos. When I schedule a new piece with Lew, I bring him an idea and he turns it into something that works on skin. Im always totally in love with what he comes up with; he just manages every time to create exactly the perfect thing. I have no idea how anyone could walk out of Atlas less than thrilled, but I, for one, am a lifer.

My husband and I came to Portland and decided to get a spontaneous tats ( we tried several places and were denied as walk-ins) Atlas worked so well with us and made a time for the both of us to get work done. Jerry, as if his beard wasnt good enough, was the absolute best. He made us feel welcome and super comfortable. His work is beautiful and he really spent time detailing exactly what we wanted. The atmosphere of the whole place was great and everyone in the shop loves what they do and the people who come in!

Im currently getting a 3/4 sleeve done. Im not an artist so when I walked in with just a general theme in mind, Dan Gilsdorf brought an amazing amount of creativity and patience to the table. After multiple re-sketches and minor tweaks, he came up with something better than I could have imagined. Hes very professional and his correspondence throughout the whole process has been very timely. I couldnt ask for a better artist, or a better shop atmosphere. You have to check it out!

Just got my first tattoo from Dan. Walked in with a rough idea of what I wanted and he took it and ran with it. He seemed to get what I wanted right away. Relatively painless and comfortable atmosphere for a neophyte like myself. Not cheap though. All in all, a really good experience. He didnt tell me ALL the facts about after-care (like that they peel) but I got that info on internet.

Ive only been to Jerry Ware. He is a genius. I love the environment of the shop. The only downside is the wait, but thats because they are so good that everybody wants to use them. I read the negative reviews left by two people (likely the same person) and I have a hard time believing them. The shop doesnt look like a dentists office, but its totally clean and sanitary.

Atlas has a rooster full of savage folks. Not only will you going to get a world class tattoo but youll be welcomed in with open arms. Whether youre stopping in for your first tattoo or youve flown across the globe for a specific tattooer you will be welcomed in like family. I could go on forever but Ill leave it there. Get tattooed its the right thing to do.

Atlas Tattoo has horrible service, poor overall tattoo quality and is WAY overpriced. My artist Dan Gilsdorf did a horrible job on my shoulder piece. I had to have another shop in Portland (Lady Luck) fix my tattoo that Dan messed up. I will never go back to Atlas tattoo or recommend them to anyone. Its just not worth the risk.

Very welcoming and friendly environment. I strongly suggest Corey if you want any line work done. He did two straight lines on each of my arms, it was a lot more technical then it originally seemed. He was also personable and comfortable to be around, even when it was silent. Love it here!
