After many years of friendship with the owner and his sons. We have done favors back and forth between each other. Because Dana is not doing so well the sons decided to change the friendship and start charging me more after all the favors Ive done for them and things that I have pointed out to make the store better. Their fish department is seriously lacking in care and in fish. The reptiles that they sell are sick. For many years of doing business dealings and friendship and seen tonight how they treated my friend that tried to sell them some plecos. And drove over an hour to them to just get the runaround and to be low balled. If you want great deals you should go online. Online to buy your things it is much more affordable and for most places over $50 you get free freight to your door. I was very disappointed to get a phone call with a message saying that we need to charge you more and you need to pay our surcharge fees even if we order. I can understand if they didnt order from that particular company and I pay the surcharge fee . Friendship and customer service are definitely not a high priority at this pet store.

I like this place because it is not a big named store it is locally owned. But the price is reflect that, they do not have very competitive prices, except on crickets, that I have seen. I did buy my kitty from there, which I swear I would never do because it is a run-of-the-mill kitty that I spent $150 on, because I fell in love. I would never spend that kind of money on a stray cat unless I was going to the Humane Society and even then I would not spend $150! The place always stinks because there are so many aquariums, if I were into fish Im sure they have a bigger selection than bigger name stores. This really is a go-to place but I feel like they could clean, reorganize, it really does need to be updated on the interior with lighting and flooring. The people are nice, and semi informative.

Update**( so deeply saddened to hear they are selling the place by the end of this month but I heard good things hopefully about the new owners and some of the people are still staying there I heard I will still continue to go here and give them my business hopefully they are great and amazing as the previous owners thank you for your time we all love you guys here are some pictures since I recently spent about $500 of course not on fish stuff but dog stuff and fish stuff and here is the outcome check out the pictures thanks) Love this place the owner is very knowledgeable the whole family works here this is a great store one of the best and Portland possibly Oregon highly recommend you go here

They have an amazing selection of fish, and some fun furry pets too. Their prices are exceptional compared to the major pet store chains and their animals all seem to be well cared for. My only complaint is being able to get assistance... maybe if I went more often Id learn the faces of the family and employees who work there, but they dont have any sort of name tags or shirts with the company name on them, and inevitably I end up asking other customers whether or not they work there. It would be nice to know who to approach and ask for service. But when I do finally get assistance, theyre very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.

I bought my rats there 2 years ago and I have had to spend hundreds of dollars to keep them alive. I get that they use them for food but the least they can do is take care of them before they die. They came with respiratory infections and mites, I know the owner personally breeds them and this is messed up. To see a cage full to the Dome of rats is disgusting. This is not how any animal should be treated and they need better work ethics. You would think a small business like this would take care of animals better rather than Petcos and stuff but its quite the opposite. The way they treat their animals is absolutely disgusting.

Old fashioned, family owned and operated pet store! Awesome, ever changing selection, and always really great customer service. There is always someone willing to answer questions, help you find what you are looking for, or just about anything else. Prices are really good and it beats shopping at a pet chain store hands down!!! They have the friendliest pup and kitty that live in the store and they are so loveable. I will always put my money in to locally run businesses rather than a corporate super center !!! Keep up the great work A to Z! We are customers for life and I send people your way all the time!!

I only went here once, but I kinda liked the vibe. The people dont bother with any frills and seemed honest. The animals seem well taken care of. I got a bag of Blue Diamond food which I had previously been purchasing on Amazon Now, but my prime membership expired. The food was a few dollars more expensive, but it was nice being able to go in and look at the animals. The parrots werent overly friendly, but thats not really anyones fault. The story kitty is amazing. It has extra toes on its front paws and loves attention. Ill probably go back just to see that cat.

Super cool and super friendly local pet store. They carry a huge variety of stuff as well as discounted used aquarium supplies. They have a giant selection of freshwater fish for a great price and all sorts of aquarium filter supplies and other rarities. They also cater to reptile and bird owners with a lot of products for these animals as well as products for cats and dogs also. They sell feeder fish, live feed for snakes (and frozen, as well). Its a really cool shop to stop by and visit.

Im a relatively new bearded dragon owner and the staff here are always ready to answer any questions I have in regards to making sure I spoil my beardie rotten. Unlike most pet stores who will take advantage of a uninformed new pet owner, not at A to Z and I love that. Just bought a new large terrarium for my lil guy from them for a much better price then what I got from Petco(which was also a smaller terrarium for more $!). Thanks A to Z & I will definitely be back!

The 5-star reviews are all very accurate. Value, inventory, selection, variety, specialty items, personal attention, ...these are all reliable expectations to have at A to Z. We have been customers for over 10 years. A popular place like this can be busy, so plan to take an extra 4 or 5 minutes to shop while you and every other customer is cared for. All of the employees work very hard, and it is clear that they are proud to represent this family business.

Always available to help you out with your purchases and if they dont have what your looking for dont be afraid to ask they will see if they can get it in for you! Love that all the animals are kept in clean and healthy environment and grooming is available through a top notch lady who is professional and at a price that makes monthly or quarterly services possible!!!
