My girlfriend and I went to this pet shop because as advertised it was supposedly a place to find adoptable cats, dogs and bunnies. When we arrived we were greeted with unnerving silence. There were no cat meows or dog barks or anything. This wouldve been forgivable if there were animals in a seperate room. Which we found to be true while adventuring the horrible smelling isles in this store. We came across a door into a birds/rodents room. Upon entering we were drowned with a disgusting stench that no one should be subjected to, including animals. But again, we put that behind us because we wanted to see these "healthy" animals. When looking around this small storage room we saw a few uncleaned glass containers that had rats mice and guinea pigs. The glass literally looked as if no one had cleaned it since the rodents were put into those cages. But, again, in an attempt to remain optimistic, we ignored these health violations. But then my girlfriend asked me if I could see a sleeping rat breathing. And after close examination I came to the conclusion that the rat in question was in fact dead. A dead rat that other rats were LITERALLY snuggling with. This thought appauled me and nearly brought tears to my eyes. No animal should be forced to live in these conditions. ESPECIALLY at a pet shop. We decided the best plan of action would be to tell the store clerk. When reporting this dead animal the responsive we were given was, "yeah... That happens." What is that supposed to even mean? Yeah? Animals just die on a regular basis in your store? This is a normal thing to have innocent customers walk in to see dead animals in a PET STORE? Do not go here.

The staff are fairly silent and dont question you when buying pets. They dont ask if you have a tank large enough or if you know anything about fish. Didnt even ask me anything when I adopted a kitten from them (which Im pretty sure came from a mill) Basically just gave it away. Shes also not a very healthy kitten. She came with fleas and has really bad diarrhea that gets stuck to her butt. I have to wipe her at least twice a day. They dont make sure their animals are going to good homes either. And they dont take very good care of their animals. Their bettas sit on a dusty shelf in tiny cups with so much conditioner the water is blue. One of their goldfish tanks had the worst case of ich Ive ever seen. They should be keeping an eye on their pets at all times to be able to spot diseases and treat them before they get that bad. Their mice and rats are overbreeding because they dont keep the two sexes in different cages. All their rodents are overcrowded in ten gallon tanks and look unwell. While it is a fun pet store to visit because they have such a wide variety of pets and pet supplies, more so than any other pet store Ive been to besides Bridges in Snohomish (best pet store ever btw), I am unhappy about the conditions the animals are kept in and the way theyre given away without question.

This place is awful. Came in to look at rats. Right when we walked through the door the stench was bad. I know pet stores usually smell a bit, because hey, you have a lot of animals in there. But this place is gross. We were directed to a back room where they keep all the birds and rodents and it was so sad. The bird cages were disgusting with bird poop and feathers stuck all over the sides of the cages. The rodent cages were filthy. The walls of the tiny aquariums that the rats were housed in were brown from disgusting build up. They didnt even do the bare minimum of separating the males from the females. The kid that was there even said, "If you want a female you should know it will probably already be pregnant." We left immediately after he said that. DO NOT GO HERE!!! The conditions they keep their small animals in is disgusting and deplorable and they should be ashamed of themselves. I can only hope that people like this are forced to live in their own filth one day so they can see what its like.

I came to Family Pet with my husband and two little girls. The owner spent over an hour with us talking about different fish and which ones go well together. He walked me up and down the aisles a couple different times because I was so indecisive about which fish to get. BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY HEALTHY BEAUTIFUL FISH TO CHOOSE FROM! I was super impressed. I learned a ton while we walked around looking at fish. Hes got a bunch of really big fish that people have traded in because they outgrew their tanks at home. Lots of rare fish you arent going to see at Petco. This is a fantastic pet store. They know their stuff and take the time to share their experience with you. One thing I learned, bring a cooler to take your fish home in. It stresses them out less than a bag and you wont have to worry about hurrying home. We live over an hour away, so this works well for us. K. Kelly

I asked for two same gendered rats - being a beginner - saying i wanted them to get along and not breed, and the man (who was totally checked out and extremely uncomfortable), boxed up 2 "girls", he calls out after nonchalantly flipping them over after snatching them up by their tails. Day after next, I realize "Jane" has no nipples, but she has a penis and fully-stocked ballsac. Less than a week later, on the day theyre closed, my other rat pops out a litter of little gummi babies. I dont know what to do and am overwhelmed and confused and mortified at the prospect of losing these babies that I was not ready to care for. NOTE: a rats gestation period is 21-24 days, so he sold me a boy and a pregnant female. Idiot. Ill be stopping in there tomorrow to demand some kind of solution. Surely a PET SHOP will know whats going on right?

Their store is not clean and they only provide mediocre pet food for high prices. They also sell puppies and kittens which is very irresponsible for anyone that cares about animals. Why dont they partner with any of the many rescues and help get animals adopted out. Their business practices only promotes bad outcomes for dogs and cats. Shame on them. There is too much information out there for them to not be aware of the harm they cause.

You love pets like and have any kind of bird or animal in your home. Then you must be worried about its health, diet and safety. To keep a regular check up you can take your beloved one to Pet Center in Portland Oregon. It is just a mile ahead of others is letting you at peace with how you want to see your pet. I am talking about Family Pet2, and that is really great place for your pet!

Just took my children and the neighbor kids in to see the pets and learn about different animals and sadly I had to teach them about death because they had a few bunnies that had passed and had obviously been left for a while because they were stiff. They had maybe 8-10 full grown rats in a 10 gallon tank and so so much more. PETA is being called today sadly to say.
