I brought my puppy here because his breathing was unusual and was worried he ate something that got stuck in his throat. I brought my puppy to Banfield on Gellert. I had an appointment but they didnt see my until 45 min later. Two different people came and asked me a bunch of questions before seeing the actual vet. Note, they asked the same questions. When finally the vet came, he examined my puppy for 5 minutes. Then he started entering data into the computer. I was asking questions but the vet stayed focus on the computer and kept telling me he will give me the prescription. He finished typing and left. Next, one of the two people came in with "the prescription" from the vet and started listing all of the things I need to do. These are a bunch of tests that needs to be done to rule out the possible diseases or infections. The total bill was $800. And at the end of those tests, there is no guarantee after ruling out everything they will know exactly what my puppy has. In short, this place does not diagnose. They just want your money. They want you to spend the money of doing unnecessary tests because they do not know how to be a vet and diagnose, or at least come up with possible causes. "Show me the money" first is not quite the experience I expected from an animal hospital. There are so many scams out there. This place is definitely one of them. STAY AWAY from this place unless you want to throw your money down the drain. The next day, I took my puppy to my usual vet. He checked my puppies throat i.e. felt it with his hands and fingers and looked inside with his eyes. He said my puppy has an irritated trachae. He prescribed antibiotic and gave my puppy one right there and then. They even gave me a small bag of treat to wrap the pill in...free of charge. The next time you have an emergency and you cant bring your pet in to your usual vet, do not make the mistake of bringing your pet here at BANFIELD at GELLERT. They are the worst!

This store is HORRIBLE! I dont usually take time to write reviews but I want to make sure people dont come here because it was the biggest mistake of my life. I walked in there and wasnt even welcomed but I didnt mind it much because I wanted to purchase my pet fish. So I asked the aquarium guy what kind of fish I should purchase and he told me to get a dragon scale betta fish. And so I did and I asked what tank I should get, what kind of food and ANYTHING ELSE I NEEDED. So he showed me a tank and the betta food and I thought I was ready to go. So i got home prepared my tank and welcomed Mr.Snickerdoodle home. (F.Y.I. I just bought my fish last Tuesday) So the pamphlet for the fish tank told me to change his water every week and so I changed it yesterday with fresh clean water. Now I dont know much about fish, heck I dont know anything about fish so it should have been the employees job to help me out and learn the basics. So when I came home today, Mr.Snickerdoodles wasnt moving! I poured betta food thinking he was hungry, but I didnt want to face the truth that he was dead. So I immediately called Petsmart and they told me I was suppose to add some liquid in the water(I think he said chloride) so the fish can breathe because they cant live in just plain filtered water. How come they didnt tell me that BEFORE i purchased my fish?? Maybe that should have been obvious to me, but, hey, the employee knew I didnt know a darn thing about fish so I believe it was his duty to help me understand how to raise a pet fish. Now my fish is dead and I am highly upset because I thought he was going to stick around for a long time. I really loathe this Petsmart so I suggest you DO NOT come to this particular location. Try the one at Tanforan Shopping Mall. Hope you have better luck than me. :(

I brought in my little cockapoo puppy for his neutering. When I went to go pick him up, I waited in line for 10 minutes only to have the receptionist or I mean "nurse" that they will bring my dog out to me. I waited for 30 minutes while I noticed people behind me in line were getting their dog first. I then went up to them and asked why they were taking so long and they finally brought my puppy out. He came out dirty and shaking. They gave me 2 medications: 1 for his anemia and 1 for his pain. The "nurse" told me the wrong information and told me the medication for his anemia was for his pain. I know how much dog owners love their dogs so to see my dog in shaking pain for 2 days was the most traumatic thing in my life. I then looked at the million pages of papers they gave me and realized the nurse told me to give my dog the wrong medication. I was livid. Then when I had asked why they shaved his front leg, the nurse said it was because a catheter was put in. Excuse me? A catheter in his leg? You mean the IV needle? Then I asked for the cone and they told me I had to purchase it myself. So here I was carrying my poor dog in one hand and trying to pay for the cone with the other hand. I am never going there ever again.

On July 5, I was at mid to late stage of purchasing decisions regarding starting a fish tank hobby. Current sale pricing tags removed from aisle on the items I was considering buying. It was mid-afternoon on the last day of this sale. Response from employee "we are short staffed tonight and need to fulfill closing responsibilities". Was told no information on what the sales were "live" could be presented - 7 hours of sale period length cut short needlessly! (Literally walked one end of store to other in persuading myself to buy: signage removal of 30-45 seconds could have waited until close.) Lost purchase by me. May give up on idea of this as a hobby. Business 101: a. You cant promote sales which are not communicated; b. The purchasing process is just that...a process; c. Never give a lame excuse to a customer with a hand on their wallet. d. Alot of energy went into deciding what to put on sale, at what price, and for how long...dont think that you are doing the company a favor by taking matters into your own hands by getting "the work done early" Condolences to the branches management staff: youve got your work cut out for you...unless it was your idea, in which case, best wishes for the firm.

My husband and I only use PetSmart Pet Hotels for our dog. We are here in CA on vacation from OR, and wanted to leave her overnight so my husband and I could go out for dinner and to Alcatraz. Upon my arrival, the guy behind the counter was not too pleased to be working yesterday, and barely even talked to me. I was filling out three pages of paperwork (which I am not sure why I would have to fill out since I have been in the Pet Hotel system for years now). While I was filling out paperwork, he just came and took my dog without warning, and I was left there without knowing if I could leave or not. I had a horrible feeling about leaving her there overnight, so we chose to pick her up last night instead. I am so glad we did! The report card they gave me did not even mention if they had fed her, and was not indicative of her normal behaviors at Doggie Daycare. When we got her back in the car she seemed very hungry, even though I left food for them to give her. She ended up drinking 3 bowls of water (did they not even give her water ever??) and a huge bowl of food. (she is petite and hardly acts this way). I will never bring her back to this location if we visit this area again.
