I ordered a roll of paper from them in February. I was under the impression it would be there quickly, but it took over a month. I ended up buying different paper to get my work done. I intended to come in and buy it anyhow, but Ive been really stressed about my senior project- which Im presenting to my faculty tomorrow morning. This evening a received a call from the guy working there that was very rude, basically saying not to shop at Colors anymore. It took them like a month to get the paper in (or at least contact me about it) but then he was calling all the time. Im a busy person. A full time student. A double major. Technically I have three jobs and no time to sleep. I still intended to buy the paper anyhow since apparently its a huge problem for them to just put it in their shop inventory. What a jerk, though. Sorry I had too much going on to pick up paper I didnt need anymore by the time you wanted it. I WILL be taking my business to dick blick, where I am treated with respect and professionalism. Enjoy that $500+ I wont be spending in colors per year from here on out.

Its rude and it takes advantage of people who actually build and operate a real store. Sure, on-line stores have a great business model - they suck you in with low prices and hide the add-ons - but it hurts everybody else. Anyone found using a UPC scanner to compare on-line prices will be cordially invited to shop elsewhere. While I may not use this to try and haggle a lower price, it is perfectly normal for me to be wondering if Im getting a good deal or not. Not being one who shops around for art supplies, I may be wondering if $7 for a marker is a fair price or not. Quite pretentious and suspicious to not want patrons to make sure you are being fair and honest in your pricing...

I have worked with Colours on two occasions now, and plan to do more. On the first occasion they did a rush repair on some framed artwork that had been broken, they were both timely and affordable. They are now framing some portraits and are doing a wonderful job, next Im planning to have some WWII mementos framed. What most impressed me was how much time the owner took with an elderly customer, he was very patient and gracious and I was pleased to take a little extra time in the store so he could give this senior the time and care she deserved.
