I have been a customer of this particular Michaels location for about five years, and I have gone to them on multiple occasions for custom matting and framing jobs because they are by far the most competitive price for the quality. This most recent trip was the best customer service experience I have had in a long time. Both Mark and Amanda helped with my order (5 pieces needed mats and frames, and I had waited until the last minute!). They were both very positive, fun people to work with and very understanding of my specific needs, taking extra time to make sure I was completely satisfied with the job. I was told the frames would be in by the 20th, which was the date I needed to be showing my work! A few days before the 20th, I called and Amanda dropped everything on a busy day to check the latest shipment for my order. She called me back within the time frame she had quoted me and informed me that they were in. I told her I needed my work to be finished being set in the frames by the following afternoon and she took precautions to ensure the job was done on time whether or not she would be present to complete it herself. She and Mark deserve a big shout out for doing such an excellent job with such a needy customer!! Thank you guys!

I LOVE arts and crafts, but going into Michaels is chaos. The store does a great job cramming as much as it can into its retail space, but there is no real sense of organization. Yes, there is the frame section, scrapbook section, yarn section, etc., but then there are additional mini-sections so you have to hunt through the entire store to find what you need for the best price. I recently went in to look at origami paper, which I eventually found in the bridal section. When you are paying for your items, watch the monitor to make you are purchasing the items for the correct price. The sale items frequently do not ring up at the correct price, which is annoying and makes checking-out a long process. When you can find an associate, they are generally helpful and friendly. Thankfully, the store added a feature where you can push a button and help will come to you...eventually. It seems like the associates are mostly needed to assist with locating items, which they themselves must hunt down sometimes. A better layout could make employees more accessible to a greater amount of shoppers who need assistance.

This is a decent go-to place for that random crafting item or piece of fabric or even a few gifts for various occasions. I am not particularly a crafty person but my wife and daughter seem to enjoy doing it and they go in here and love just looking around trying to get ideas for what to do. Like any big box retailer the customer service is kind of iffy and employees can be hard to find and can act indifferently towards you. We also had kind of an issue one time a long time ago when we tried to get a giant frame made for a map we were framing as an art piece. For some reason they couldnt figure out the frame and matting for it and kept delaying and delaying until we ended up having to go to a frame store locally to have the job done in time. It wasnt a complete fail and they actually gave us the matting for free as a way to say sorry but it still somewhat reflects on the company as a whole. Overall it still is a recommended place to go as long as you know what youre looking for and can just pop in find what you need and get out then it works as intended.

I always shop here. This morning I was walking around the store just browsing, waiting for the library to open. I was with my boyfriend, and one of the workers, an old Asian lady, was just following us around, not saying anything. Just casual following us, pretending to do inventory, but everywhere we turned, she was there hiding behind something and peeking around. Now, I dont really blame her entirely, we were both wearing heavy jackets, since its freezing outside, and we had my bag and my boyfriends backpack, since we were going to go play cards at a local card shop later. Im assuming she thought we were shop lifting or something. But we were in the store for a solid 30-45 minutes, nobody confronted us and we were just followed, now I get paranoid very easily, so it made me feel really uncomfortable and unwelcome. I always shop here as well, and this has never happened before. I hope next time I come in, this doesnt occur again. Otherwise I will contact the actual store and file a complaint.

I was in the store this evening and after a lengthy search for glue, i entered the checkout line. At this same time a young woman was having a medical emergency and first responders were on scene. An amazing employee (if she wasnt a manager she should be) redirected the line so that this young woman was able to get the help she needed. The employee also proceeded to tell the other employees how great they were doing as Im sure this was a scary experiance for everyone. It was a great thing to watch and this "manager" employee should be very proud of herself!

Ive tried to go to smaller places in downtown Portland, but they think DMCs availability is synonymous with "cheap" and "low quality" and as an insult will say "If you want something like THAT, go to Michaels". This store always has what I need and surprises of what I want when it comes to embroidery. The only Problem I have is I always recieve cold and rude service at this location (maybe becauce Im a man in uniform?) and when I dont give my Zip, they become quite agitated.

Went in to look at planners- they had a big selection, the store was clean and tidy and I liked the way it was laid out better than some others. The staff were very friendly - 2 people asked me how I was, did I find everything. I actually had several questions and two different people helped me at different times. When I was checking out the gal was very friendly and accommodating. I even had 2 refunds plus a purchase. I would definitely recommend this store.

Easy to access location off of I-5. Good prices when things go on sale. Friendly staff. Parking has never been an issue for us here, though based on the design of the shopping complex I could see it becoming a problem during peak hours/days such as holiday shopping. That being said, getting into and leaving this side of the complex is infinitely easier during busy periods then it is from the Cabelas side.

Had a puzzle framed at Frame Central in Tigard. They did not reccomend putting glass on the front since I glued it. One month after getting it framed, it started bubbling and pieces started falling apart. Took it to Michaels and Jamie in the frame center informed me that glass should be standard on puzzles. Gave me over 50% off and got it done within a day. Highly reccomend Michaels for framing!

This crafty place is clean and organized. If you shop here you will find the most helpful staff to cater to your needs. Prices are great combined with your coupons online or from your mailbox. Also, order on line and pick up at the store is an option. They have DYI crafts from making your own necklace to decorating your birthday party. Establishment is very busy at times.
