I called the store to ask if my battery was in warranty, it was. They said it could be replaced, but they would need to check it, and it may need a charge, or the alternator could be bad. I understood that they need to go through these hoops to ensure the right part is replaced. I had replaced the battery in 2009, and the alternator in 2010, both from AutoZone. When I got to the store they young gentlemen was very helpful in checking my battery, although the first test came up as a good battery, but the next two checks indicated it was bad. He quickly determined my battery was under warranty and located the new. He spoke with the manager who seemed to grudgingly tell the young man how to go about the warranty process. The young gentlemen quickly removed my old batter, in replacing it with the new one, he over torqued the negative terminal. This in itself was no big deal, I understand that younger guys dont always realize that electrical components dont need to be torqued down. The young man spoke with the manager who seemed upset at this point, and wasnt helpful in locating the terminal to replace the broken part. While trying to find the new terminal the young man said that the dielectric grease which he placed on the all-copper terminals would help to keep the new terminal from breaking the way the old one had. The young man and I located a terminal that would work, and installed it. I asked if I owed him anything for the terminal and he said that I could cash it out inside. I went in and asked if I had to cash out and the manager said he would take me at the register. As he rang up the $5.38 terminal, I asked if I could get the terminal "as a gift." To lighten the situation. The manager did not reply. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought he may be hard of hearing (although he was probably in his 30s or 40s), I repeated my question. He stated that the young man said it was like that when the car came in. He abruptly tore my receipt off the machine and handed it to me. I told him that it was not like that when it came in, and that it had been over torqued. I also said that copper does not corrode. First - the car would not have ever started with the broken terminal - that is how we determined the terminal was broken - because it wasnt starting, also because I saw and heard it snap upon over-torquing. Second - I know copper corrodes - but it does not corrode to the point of failure on a car terminal in 12 years - I kept the terminal, it is a shear failure. Also - Im a mechanical engineer and Ive worked in the automotive industry, so I understand failure, torque specs, tolerances etc... Im also from Detroit and work on cars myself. The young man apologized for the inconvenience and time lost etc. I said it was OK, and I meant it, it was not a problem at all, things happen, my heart goes out to those working and going to school in our difficult economic times. I am not looking for a return of $5.38 for the purchase of the terminal, the time it took to write this description of events is worth well over that. The reason I wrote this is to let upper management at AutoZone, and everyone who reads this review on Google, know that management at this store is not friendly, and customer service (as far as management is concerned)is, at best, poor.

I went to get a oil change special for my Audi and the red shirt guy at the counter had a horrible attitude and said he is a Master Mechanic and doesnt like Audis, when he went to look up my car he told me they dont sell oil for Audis .Ive been a customer at the store since it first opened I did call and complain to corporate. Ive told all my friends and family that own Audis not to go there..

My car battery died tonight and the two guys working at the North Olmsted location went above and beyond to help me and made replacing my car battery an easy process. The freezing temperatures didnt stop Joe from replacing my battery and I greatly appreciate that. Awesome people working at this location!
