On April 12 their website said "cast iron cooking demo".I am a camper and interested in learning how to cook outside using cast iron. I had a friend drive from Fairfield to Miamisburg to attend. Well...where is demo. We were in pot and pan aisle and an employee was talking to another couple about cast iron. We finally decided he was the one giving demo once he finished with them. We walked around a bit and went back. Now he is talking to a woman who looked at me with dagger eyes when I asked about the cooking demo. He responded that really not a demo but did I have any questions. Once again dagger eyes looked at me and I politely said no because had I said yes I figured she would have hit me with the first cast iron pot she could grab. So, anyway I made one purchase using my $10.00 coupon. Headed to Walmart and bought the second item which was identical to item at Field and Stream for $25.00 less and Walmart let me use my other Field & Stream coupon so $10.00 off. I left Walmart a very happy camper. So next time they advertise a demo look up the meaning to demonstration. Very unhappy about that aspect of my experience.

I have been shopping for a new bow for about about a month and really do not like big box stores BUT their archery department, especially an associate named Kyle has changed that. The bow I finally picked out was there and drove an hour to get it. When I was looking at the bow I picked out online Kyle came out and asked me questions pertaining to my uses for the bow and why I picked the one I was going to buy. I lised off the reasons and he shook his head and said no you want one of these. If he had not told me about the bow I picked out online then I wouldve been very dissapointed and extended my dislike gor big box stores. But instead Kyle changed my view about them. The bow I bought and the items I wanted for the bow he had endless knowledge about each one. He wasnt pushy, rushing, flustered about the 100 questions I had, and made me think twice about Field and Stream. Gander Mountain, Bass Pro, and Cabelas do not compare to the professionalism and experience Kyle had and because of that reason alone I will be back there soon.

The worst customer “engagement” I have ever seen or been given. My first time time, two employees were sitting and talking about boots and were they were going out for the weekend; as I sat by and waited to only be told “no, we don’t have that in the store…” No other help then that…no offer to look online, check other inventory…yadda, yadda, yadda. So…off to fishing…same experience. I found it easier to get help, in the middle of construction season , on a Saturday; and Home Depot. Again, F/S is owned by Dick’s…shame on the branding to cast such a shadow of poor service, to become the enigma of a big box store….who isn’t very competitive in price. F/S is just another weak competitor, missing the boat on the value of a walk-in customer. Mounts and atmosphere, dont make a giant in the Outdoor business....engagement does...THATS... what keeps them coming back!

Went for doorbuster sale which ended at 2. We took our number at about 1:30 Ish. Our number was finally called at 2:15 and we were told we cant get the sale price because it was pass 2. Excuse me!!!! We have been here for 45 min waiting to be helped. They should have had somebody waiting by the number station taking names UNTIL 2. Really corporate!! Does it take a little peon to figure something out for you? It BS!!! We should have been given the sale price! We of course dis not buy the gun nor anything else. We will not be going back to field n stream especially considering we drove 45 min to get here. Ugh!!!

From a fishermans perspective I really wanted this place to be a regular stop for me because of its location between my house and most lakes and streams where I fish (from boat and shore/baitcasting,fly fishing and trolling). The staff, maybe as an attempt to come off as an expert, seem rude. Also, kind of a pricey store. I dont mind paying more than most internet prices as long as I feel like the guy selling it to me has actually got some experience/or preference for the product. Decent variety of lures/flies.

Virtually everything was way overpriced. From Glock handguns $110.00 over advertised prices at other gun shop. Or small ammo boxes on sale from $9.99 down to $6.99. Those same Plano boxes are on sale for $3.99 at Rural King. The regular price is still just $5.99. They are either out of touch with real pricing or they are looking to rip people off during their grand opening. I guess if you are VERY unfamiliar with hunting, fishing, and outdoor gear, this is the place to go

Employees are extremely friendly and helpful. My husband and I were slowly making our way around the store and didnt realize that we had stayed 20 minutes past closing time. I was hanging out in the hammock asking questions and not once did they seem irritated. We apologized when we realized the time and promised to come back tomorrow! Thank you for being so patient and professional.

I had a very pleasant and seamless firearm transaction at Field & Stream today. I wish I could remember the gentlemans name who took my order to give him the credit hes due. He was knowledgeable and patient. They price matched Cabelas and honored a coupon that was emailed to me without hesitation. I got a great deal on a new shotgun and highly recommend this store to all others!

I love everything about this store. The appearance, cleanliness, availability of merchandise, brands of merchandise & mostly the people working at this location. The employees have all been nice, helpful and also fun. It is easy to get help when needed. I have started spending too much time here, because I know everyone will be nice and I really appreciate that!

Location was running some best clearance specials. Did not notice staff on sales floor. They all seemed to be hanging around the gun area and customer service. Multiple customers had to go track employees down versus staff being engaged in departments and making themselves available to customers.

Steve is right, they are overpriced but they price match! they won my loyalty by price matching a large expensive item. Overall great store, I will spend hours browsing and usually find something I "need". I have found the people working there to be fair in their knowledge, but not great.

Of course this is a specialized type of store....But it has plenty of variety. Unfortunately the sizing in the store line of clothing is askew. Runs incredibly small and the shrinkage afterwards most garments is little to be desired. Most of the time the staff is very friendly.

While the staff is courteous, theyre not as knowledgeable as they want you to think. I have looked at both guns and bows (both high ticket items) and have ended up making the purchases elsewhere. On a positive note, theyre selection and pricing are great!

Seems like a cookie-cutter knock off of Cabelas and Bass Pro Shop. Being that it was Field and Stream I guess I expected a wider selection of other brands and better things. Their mounted animal display at the back of the store was impressive.
