Giant Eagle has some beautiful stores- this is not one of them. Where to begin. The entire store reeks a combination of sewer backup and halitosis; you can smell it from the parking lot, as if the store breathes through its entrance and exits. The parking lot is an accident trap;constantly packed with cars that are too tightly spaced, and the entrance/exit onto Bunts is downright dangerous, positioned at an odd angle to oncoming traffic. The front of the building is covered in streaks of rust and the sidewalks leading to and from it are frequently littered with upside-down shopping carts with hazard tape around them, marking something that needs repaired- that will never be repaired. The entrance to the store contains piles of cheese curls, generic pop, and potato chips stacked to the ceiling; one has to walk around these hoarder-esque piles through a narrow path into the store. Inside, youre greeted first by a produce section that often (but not always) is filled with wilted lettuce, overripe pathetic excuses for fruit that a food bank wouldnt accept, and veggies that bend when they should snap. If youre there at the right time, you might find fresh produce, but often its so picked over or of such poor quality that you dont even bother trying. This Giant Eagle location doesnt seem to care. Its as if they dont have to, that they get so much business and are making so much money providing terrible quality and service that there is no incentive to try- must be nice. On top of all this, the produce is often more expensive than any other grocery in town. The remainder of the store is, unfortunately, more of the same. While some Giant Eagle stores sell beautifully prepared sushi and other high quality ready-to-go foods, this one seems to sell leftovers scraped out of the chafing dishes at Old Country Buffet. The seafood and meat sections arent all that bad, but theyre small, dimly lit, and unappealing. The dry goods selection in the center of the store also isnt bad, but there doesnt seem to be much pride taken in maintaining order and organization. Further, they are frequently out of basic items, but often have more random ones; there are likely 5 brands of wasabi peas, but good luck finding more than one cat litter option. The paper signage throughout the store is often curling in on itself, falling down, or non-existent. At the checkout, youre almost certainly going to wait. The employees, though kind, dont move with a sense of urgency, regardless of how busy the store is. Its as if everyone who shops there simply accepts the absurdly bad service as a consequence of living in Lakewood; the only other grocery choice is one of the worst Marcs stores in existence on Detroit Rd. There are self-checkout lines, but the machines are frequently out of service, and stay broken for weeks or months before they are fixed, making these lines just as long as the staffed ones. Okay, I know, these are all first world problems. Frankly, though, I think this Giant Eagle location treats its customers as if they live in the developing world, where high levels of service and quality arent expected because there is no competition. Its shameful that hardworking Lakewood and surrounding residents cant somehow demand a better shopping experience, especially when they pay just as much or more for their food as customers at Heinens, or even Earth Fare or Whole Foods for that matter.

Convenient location for me but the workers at the courtesy desk there attitude really and lack for a better word at the moment sucks they will let you stand in line while they talk about what they had or what there going to have for lunch and this was after an older gentleman was in front of me doing a bill pay and he asked the worker her name and she told him and he thanked her by name and said have a great day she stood there chewing her gum looking at him instead of responding as he put his head down and walked away instead of saying your welcome and you to have a great day I worked retail for 15 years you are to great them as there 10 feet away from you smile offer help Center yourself if your having a bad day or quit and find something other then retail

This store over the years has gotten worse and worse however it is convenient in location from where I live thats why I shop there but I think that Im going to start looking for another store most of the time its disorganized and the shelves are not stocked quite a few times your Associates have attitudes and are very arrogant so the more and more I think about it I should look for another store and it wont be Giant Eagle Heinens is never like this it is always clean their Associates are Pleasant and they always have a smile and a thank you when I leave....

This store is dirty, poorly organized, and while there are a few good employees on the whole this is the worst bunch of unhelpful malcontents to be encountered in a supermarket on the westside. I have repeatedly complained about a lack of department help, poor produce, cuts of meat and absence of cashiers (especially, at busy times) to no avail. Despite my many objections to this location they are convenient to where I live and the hours are excellent--if you can find an open register.

It is a standard Giant Eagle, very clean. All the products you need. Very similar to the one on W. 117, just older. The one major annoyance is that the front doors were locked, or simply not working, there was only one entrance door functional, and it was next to exit and led directly into the checkout line. It is very confusing, and hopefully doesnt stay that way. Also there hours are changing after the 19th.

Just recently moved here and both times I shopped here I hurt myself hitting potholes pushing the cart through the parking lot, the holes were deep enough that the front of the cart stopped and the back reared up and bruised my legs, with so many potholes its almost unavoidable, getting in and out of the parking lot is a pain and the selection in store is much less than other giant eagles Ive been too

I dont understand others comments about this store. It is well organized for its size. Some of the employees and even the guys who deliver, chips, pop, etc have been helpful and courteous. I like this location much better than West 138th and Lorain and definitely better than Southgate location.. Even the bus service is better (26 versus 22). Ill definitely be back to shop at this location again.

Its awesome to have a Grocery store in central Lakewood. Unfortunately the compact size does lead to some trade-offs in variety. Their Self-Check can be finicky and there is always a line. If you are in a rush, probably not the best place to get your quick grabs. Otherwise, the store is generally clean, well lit, and stocked.

The workers are nice enough, but I generally dont find the place to be all that clean. Im not saying that they are putting out spoiled or outdated food. The general appearance of the store is just a bit run down. I find that there are better choices even at other Giant Eagle stores than this one
