The first time I went to this location I thought the staff and everything was just "ok". Their prices were extremely high and nothing made them stand out from any other tattoo shop. I returned for a touch-up with the employee that had originally done my tattoo ( Evan English) and he was extremely rude and completely disrespectful. The whole time I was getting my touch up he was speaking unkindly to me and grumbling under his breath upset he had to touch up my tattoo. I have 3 other tattoos and have always gotten them touched up. When i orginally went he told me that he would of course touch up my tattoo. When I called and made an appointment he was unkind over the phone and tried to convince me out of stopping by. I have a very small VERY simple tattoo. That didnt take more than 15 minutes to do originally. The touch up took him 2 minutes and my wrist is bruised from how hard he was pressing down. It also continues to bleed. I have never had some be that rough with me while getting a tattoo or press that hard. I asked him kindly to fix some of the small shading my tattoo had and he got very rude and pretty much just made random lines over the shading that looks awful. I have never been to a place where the staff was that disrespectful. I was planning on returning for another tattoo but I will never go back there ever again.

I called in the morning to see if I could just walk in for a very simple tattoo and the man I talked to said that was absolutely fine. He was very nice. So, I walked in and spoke to one of the artists and he was so rude to me while I explained to him what I wanted. He offered no help and acted as though I was ridiculous for thinking they could help show me fonts. One of my other tattoos is just words and we looked at fonts together, so I assumed this was the norm. He then proceeded to quote me a ridiculous price as he rolled his eyes at me. I walked out and immediately called Stained Skin which was more than helpful. Edit: I did speak with the shop owner at his request. While he couldnt change my mind about the artist I spoke with- he was authentically apologetic for my experience. I likely wont be a patron of Short North Tattoo because I had such an amazing experience at another shop- but, Matt seemed legitimately concerned for the representation of the business his artist gave. I respect that.

Alison was amazing!! She took my very particular ideas and transformed them into an amazing piece of artwork. Her lines were impeccable and the color work was amazing. I also had her redo an old tattoo and she rocked it!! She managed to take my old and faded phoenix, keep the same style and idea and created a beautiful, new piece of art. Further more the entire staff was very clean, friendly, and professional. I would also liketo thank Alison for the design process. We thoroughly talked about the tattoos, and she worked on them over night. Then when I went in for my appointment we went over the sketches and adjusted them until I thought they were perfect. She was more than happy to adjust them and not at all offended and she was able to provide the artistic vision to include the details that were important to me. The prices were very reasonable and I will definitely be referringanyone I know to get tattooed here.

First let me start off by saying that this is an AWESOME shop. It is such a good environment from the paintings when you walk in, to the great customer service, to the music and movies they put on. I was recommended by a friend to Brett. Hes an awesome artist, and even a better person. Hes very generous, flexible, and doesnt ask for a deposit. There were many times i was scheduled to come in and i called and told him i couldnt because of how busy i usually get. Which made me appreciate him even more for all the delays i had put him through. Every time i walked in i was never mistreated, I was well respected and treated them the same. Its such an energetic place to be. I will be back to get more tattoos from this place, they are now my #1 source for getting inked up. Once again, Thanks Brett and the Short North Crew. Our experience there was great! A friend and I wanted some script, small and simple. We had just checked out another place on high street and they told us it would have to be big and a couple hundred dollars (which is crazy, because both of us have tattoos and we know better). So we went ahead and checked out the Short North Tattoo. We met with Ben, and he did everything perfectly and was a great guy! Very personal, we even walked in at around 7:40 pm, twenty minutes before closing, and offered to come back another day, but he wanted to stay and help! It was really great, and both of us love our little script tattoos. I also felt the price he gave us was decent considering the circumstances! Definitely recommending this place for Columbus shops!

I got my first tattoo ever at 22 Caliber Tattoo in Hilliard, Ohio. The experience was awful! they spelled a word wrong and forgot to cross a T in a word. (the whole story is on the google review for 22 caliber.) After this disaster, I came to Short North Tattoo to have it fixed. They got me in right away and it took maybe 15 minutes. Biz was awesome, he made me feel so much better and he reassured me that everything would be fixed. I will probably need another touch up of the misspelled word and I can assure you, it will be from here. If I ever get another tattoo, it will be from here. I am very impressed to say the least. Thank you so much!

Clean place. Staff is nice. Had a tattoo done by an artist there. I was pretty happy with it, but one of the colors needed to be retouched. When I tried to reach the artist at his website, he didnt respond so I called Short North Tattoo. They said he had since left the store. I asked if I could come in and have it retouched (I didnt say I wanted it free or if Id pay). They conferred with someone off the phone then replied back that they wouldnt retouch someone elses tattoo. When I responded back that I had it done there, they said they still wouldnt do it. I think thats pretty poor customer service.

I cant say enough good things about Drew Rays approach to tattooing. Drew puts in time with me when I have an idea for a new tattoo, and works with me so that were both happy with the outcome. He is conscientious throughout the tattooing process, and hes happy to answer questions. I knew I wanted a tattoo or tattoos geared towards healing/helping with my migraines, and Drew was eager to assist. When it comes to healing/meaning/remembrance, no one does it better. The shop itself is clean, friendly, and in a great location. I will definitely be back and will recommend to my friends!

Matt Carlisle and the artists at Short North Tattoo are fantastic. The shop maintains the artistic flavor of the Short North District. I was kindly greeted by owner/artist Matt Carlisle who helped me create my awesome tattoo. Artist Giovani Faenza did my tattoo and he did an outstanding job. I would definitely go back to Short North Tattoo and recommend them to anyone.
