About two weeks ago, I walked in to Capital Games. The lighting was very dim, which I thought was odd. Then I noticed a layer of dust on absolutely everything. The store was filthy. I browsed for a little bit, and noticed there were no Sega Genesis titles out, which is strange, considering the fact that this is a retro game store. I asked about Genesis games, and I was told that they were "buried in the back" and if I gave them a list of what I was looking for, they could "dig through them and get back to me in a couple days." Uh, what? So, admittedly against my better judgement, I continued to browse. I found the game Galactic Attack for the Sega Saturn. It was marked either $30.99, or $36.99, I couldnt quite read the tag. I brought it up to the counter, and inquired about the price. The employee said "Oh, the prices change so often with retro games that we dont mark them." He starts to look the game up online, right in front of me. "$75 for this. Yeah, its up there. If this was in better shape... it would be $105." Keep in mind, that as of the time of this posting, the value of this game is between $45-55. And those are eBay prices. There are folks on Amazon and eBay ASKING more for the game, but SOLD listings dictate the true value of an item. The thing is, Im willing to support local businesses and pay close to eBay prices. But this was price gouging at its worst. And honestly, with how prevalent online selling is, why wouldnt you want to offer fair prices and good customer service in a brick-and-mortar environment? I should also mention that while the employee was not outwardly rude, but I did not feel welcome at any point during my visit. My review isnt the only one of this type on here. A message to the owner - you should be horrified at these reviews, and you should make an effort to change your business practices. I am your target demographic. Im in my early 30s, and I finally have the money to buy all the games I couldnt afford when I was growing up. I came in from out of town, and I allow myself a decent budget for my retro gaming hobby. I would have gladly paid full market value for the game I had selected. But I certainly wont pay 40% over the fair price for the game, and honestly, how can you expect anyone else to? This is truly the worst game store Ive ever personally been in. Its going to take a lot of work to turn it around. UPDATE: I finally saw the owner and employees in action at the CORGS game convention at the end of May. Once again, nothing was priced. They were looking up all values on the spot on smart phones. Totally unprofessional. And the truth of the matter is - they have an excellent selection of games. But Ive come to realize the reason they have so many good games is because their inventory simply does not move. I spoke with other attendants of the show, and Capital Games is NOT well liked, for the aforementioned reasons. For all of those reviewers that are surprised by the negative comments on here - why? Do you really have that low of standards when it comes to who do you do business with? This isnt just me being picky. This is a horribly run business, and Im nowhere near the only person that thinks so.

All I can say is...it sucked. And I was really expecting something cool, because Ive been going to Ultimate Video Gaming Connection for the past two years or so, and I didnt find out until recently that Capital Games even existed. I went there because I was looking to trade in my Sega Genesis model 1 for the model 2 version, and the guys at UVC had always been really nice. (I had the cables for the model 2). I thought since the second one was so mass produced and that 1st had more features AND mine was in GREAT CONDITION, it would seem like a fair trade. Boy was I wrong. Ive been there on multiple occasions now, and I can tell you that its usually somebody different behind the counter every time. I thought I would be taken care of, but they were to busy jerking around and stuffing their faces with Pizza Hut. Finally someone asked what I needed help with. I wanted to say "Yes, you can help me figure out why your customer service is complete garbage compared to your other location", but I just let it slide and told him my proposal. The guy sort of scoffed at me and said that model 2 Genesis was MORE expensive than the model 1, and if I wanted to trade consoles, I would have to pay 15 dollars along with giving them my system. I was shocked! The whole system is worth about 10-15 dollars now. Its not like the things are in that high demand, let alone rare! In the end I said no thanks and left the store empty handed. I felt really bad for some reason, too, like I wanted to give them a second chance. There was another time when I wanted to get a Pokemon game for my cousins 10th birthday. When I got Pokemon Blue from UVC years back, it cost me about 5 bucks. I figured, "Hey, I should get him Pokemon Red so we can trade some time if he wants to. So I decided to try Capital again, and when I asked them how much it was, they told me the games were 30-40 DOLLARS!!! Why on earth are they priced that high? After that, I was pretty much done with the place, because theres no one ever there when there supposed to open, and they change their prices to whatever the hell they feel like. If you want to buy games, go to Ultimate Video Gaming Connection on East Broad Street, right next to Target. The owner is always there, the employees are almost always pleasant, and they offer a 30 day warranty on practically everything you get there. Avoid Capital at all costs.

I guarantee all these reviews that are listed as 4 or 5 stars have to be fake or made by the owner himself or employees . The service is horrible, you walk in and no one even recognizes that you walked in, no one asked if you need help ect. Then you have to stand around while the employees are talking , eating or just not doing their jobs to wait for someone to help you. Then when you ask for help while their not doing their jobs they act rudely like your interrupting them slacking off. I think this place needs to hire real employees who know how to act in a work place and treat customers instead of hiring their friends. This store does nothing but scam customers, you go in there to sell something brand new and they want to give you nothing for it or less, they scam and rip people off daily. Ive seen it more than once. Ive been into this store multiple times, probably over fifteen since i live right down the street trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but every single time its the same. The employees are rude and dont do their jobs, everything is over priced and oversold, they scam people and rip them off when it comes to them selling items to them and its just an overall bad place to go. The store is always dirty because no one does their jobs and there are always movies and games laying around everywhere. You cant even walk around the store half the time because tables with movies and games stacked high are in your way. Keep in mind this is a SMALL Store, if they had people hired who did their job it wouldnt be such a mess and movies/games wouldnt be all over the place, instead of doing their jobs and putting the movies away ect they eat and talk and stand around. How they even have jobs i have no clue. Im surprised this place isnt shut down. It really should be. Also, dont try calling because they are more than likely not going to answer.
