The past 3 years Ive purchased flowers several times per year from Patricias Floral on Portage St. Ive always been extremely happy with every arrangement. However this Valentines Day I called their number and was informed that they were bought out by Botanica Florist. The woman I spoke with assured me that they were just as good as Patricias and even hired some of their staff. So I decided to purchase a dozen roses from them. The arrangement was very nice as I had always experienced, however the price was raised $20 from the previous year. I mentioned this to their employee and her explanation was, "its always more for Valentines day." In my opinion, taking advantage of customers because it is a holiday, is not a wise business practice. I wouldve expected to more likely get a small discount for being a first time customer. Obviously they dont have much business experience or value for building relationships with return customers. I will not purchase from them again. UPDATE: Roses wilted after 2 days. They were wrapped, carried to my warm vehicle in under 20 secs and into the house in under 10. So temperature change was not an issue. Overall this was the worst experience Ive had purchasing a floral arrangement.

I have had excellent experiences at Botanica. I have been a customer for several years because I always get great flowers and the owner has both fair pricing and excellent taste in my opinion. Sometimes I am very picky and sometimes I just say, "Whats a great arrangement I can get for $X?" and she says, "Hmmmm...Ill get you something! What do you think of this? And what about those? And these? OK, Ill make you something great!" My wife has been pleased with the flowers Ive bought for her for birthdays, holidays, and "just because", to the point that before we were married, she actually chose this shop to do our wedding flowers, which also turned out great. We are loyal customers now because the flowers and service have always been excellent.

I got a $100 arrangement for my parents 40th wedding anniversary and it was literally the star of the day. Everyone loved it and kept commenting on how beautiful it was. It was very creative and packed with a huge variety of flowers. I showed up when I said I would and there it was ready to go. Its good to know there is such creativity out there - and only on a days notice!
