A lot of the reviews on here are very biased. The review of this store is supposed to be based off of overall store quality in relation to the general customer, not a scratching post for those who had out of warranty items and were not poignant enough to return their bought goods within the return policy and expect some sort of special treatment, or those who did not receive an abundance of help when frankly, Best Buy is not a free school for the technologically challenged, it is an electronics store. That being said, I worked for Best Buy stores for 5 years but I retain my ability to have an unbiased opinion. Best Buy policies can, in some ways, be rough or stringent but that is primarily due to too many stores giving exceptions for customers and/ or those that abuse the system of returns and exchanges, henceforth ruining it for the rest of the customers who are perceived as "always right". This cliche statement is not/ and will never be founded by truth, since just like many other facets in life, customers are all different and some may or may not understand that they are not better or more important than any other customer. In summation, this Best Buy store has its follies, hence the rating of 3 for the store, but as a whole, it provides an overall quality experience for the customer to facilitate buying what they need without the pressures of a commission based salesperson. I worked here, therefore I understand how the workings of the business are both as an employee and a customer. I would buy from this store again if I returned to Wilmington, NC.

This has to be the absolute pits of a store to deal with. After trying for 3 days to get someone on the phone at Best Buy and failing,I took my laptop in to the notorious Geek Squad. I had heard the horror stories but was desperate to get my computer to work since I use it in my work. I was the first in line which I realized meant nothing. From l0 to l0:30 no one was at the desk despite the growing line. One guy was on the phone. Another Geek was laughing and sipping coffee as he wandered to and fro into the back. Finally--after half those waiting had left in disgust--a Geek came out and listened to my problem.He charged me $70 to do a diagnostic test and told me to return in a week. I picked it up a week later, having been assured everything had been done. When I turned it on, NOTHING had been done. In fact, it was worse than ever. My cursor was frozen, I couldnt get on the internet. When I called in to complain, the Geek yawned and said they had jonly examined my computer and had not been told to repair it. Bring it back in, yawned the Geek, and well fix the problems. I told him where to stuff it. No one showed the slightest interest in the customers or their problems. I watched enraged customers,tired of waitig, waiting at the Geek area,leave.It also took me 3 months to get my refund back. Find a private repair person or firm and avoid The Geeks like the plague.

Three weeks ago our new Samsung refrigerator was delivered. The guys who set it up had to remove the handles to get it through the door. In the process they lost one of the screws - no big deal, these things happen. They secured the handle with a similar screw from the odds and ends they had on the truck. It worked for about an hour, then fell out, it was too short. I called the store and asked about getting a replacement screw. Store told me they would replace the whole handle. Great. When? Was told the service department set its own schedule and that they would be calling me. That was three weeks ago. Called store. They not only had no record of the problem, they said they couldnt help me. Said I had to call geek squads 800#. Called. After 30 minutes of back and forth between geek squad central in Ohio and Wilmington store while I listened to muzak and occasionally confirmed I was still there, someone came on and told me I could not get a new refrigerator just because Id broken the handle. I set the record straight: all I wanted was the handle Id been promised. 10 more minutes of muzak. New person came on and told me two new screws would be UPSed directly to me from Samsung. The refrigerator is terrific and we got a good price. Thats the only reason I didnt tell them to come pick the thing up and give me my money back.

Just came from this Wilmington NC Best Buy. Plenty of help in the front of store, near cell phones... Literally NO ONE visible on floor in rest of store. Had to wait, wait, wait while a BB employee talked on phone...then a lady "helped" me buy several items, one an over $200 item-- gives me her opinions/ advice on all items. I get to my car & double check items & what she said about them each "not being on sale anywhere else". Well, shes full of it!!! --cause not only was the camera $40. LESS on Amazon, but also the zillion reviews all say its TOTAL, COMPLETE CRAP, seriously malfunctions, stops working, horrible!! Also, it takes a 64GB card, NOT a 32GB card, as the BB sales rep claimed--- & as it CLEARLY states on the box-- so she really TOTALY WASTED MY TIME & she DEFINITELY had NO IDEA WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT. Im gonna take EVERYTHING back. I already went RIGHT back in store immediately to return the worst cell ph holder Ive ever seen, total plastic garbage, & which fell apart and didnt work, right out of package!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT TAKE THESE SALESPERSONS "ADVICE", as theyre IDIOTS! I will never shop @ this Best Buy again. Will shop online @ Crutchfield- who has superb Customer Service & products. Best Buy, u suck!!!

If there was a smaller star than this I would select that one. I strongly recommend everybody to check any and every box before buying it (have a manager check it with you) otherwise you will be screwed over! I bought something and as soon as I opened it, it appeared to be used, was sticky, the cups were missing, and the item was scratched. Both managers believe I used it and refused to check any cameras to see if someone had changed the item themselves without going through the official process. I guess even when you do the right thing, it doesnt matter you will pay the consequences of others. Also there was a guy manager Ill have to get his name sometime, who was awefully rude and let his title get to his head. End of story i basically paid for a piece of trash. I will NEVER buy from this place ever again!

I changed from 5 stars to 4 and now 3 for several reasons. The selection has diminished greatly here with musics much so that there are now 2 dual sided rows of c.d.s and no more vinyl. I try to support local regardless but if I needed it right away I used to be able to go there. I do like the option to order online and pick up in store but its almost always faster to choose shipping than pick up bc of the selection at our store now. The staff is friendly but the geek squad is so busy that I bought a laptop and they couldnt fit me in to get the programs on it and now its too late to take back so Ive had a new lap top now for 5 month, turned on only twice and a waste if money I didnt have because I cant use it and they cant seem to offer help but for me to "try to sell it on Craigslist". Not cool.
