Ive lived in Raleigh for 2 years, and today was my first trip to an Unleashed store. I am ashamed of myself for the money and time Ive spent at petsmart/petco. My trips to the latter 2 are always.... something I dread. I know to expect little help, lack of knowledge about the products on the shelf, and a clutter of products that I (personally) dont believe any PET store should sell (i.e: dog/cat foods that are cheap/unfit for the well being & nutritional needs of an animal). I know, I am critical, but I spend a great deal of time and money in pet stores (a 30lb bag costing $50 lasts maybe two weeks in this house? Not to mention the supplements my spouse and I have been urged to buy to help with our 10month old great danes kidney function, meds, etc). Petsmart/petco are large, unattractive, somewhat uninviting stores.. and as I said before- their employees do not know much about what their store sells- therefore *most* employees arent good at recommending anything. Unleashed (on Creedmoor Rd in Raleigh) made my entire week this afternoon. Not only were they VERY knowledgeable about everything in the store, they seemed to take genuine interest in my dog who was wih me, Forrest (a 14wk Harlequin Great Dane), as well as an interest in my two at home and the issues weve had. They carry the food I now use (and will continue to use FOREVER! Its an incredible food for giant breeds thats also very easy on tummies! Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Canine), and they dont bother stocking their store with foods that arent actually suitable for your furry family. Back to their knowledge- Ive been wanting to add a probiotic to the packs food. The employee helping me was so wonderful! He took me through all the things they had in store and helped me pick something to try out and explained further to me the benefits of a probiotic. At checkout I saw some cute smoothie treats for the pack, all natural of course and even though they were already on sale, I ended up getting several for free, just because! The guy and gal working there this evening were just exceptional, and obviously I dont find exceptional service often so I get very excited when I do! To top everything else off- the male employee offered to carry everything to my car so I wouldnt have to manage a 40lb puppy and a 30lb bag of food (and some smoothies). Oh, and once you buy 12 bags of food you get a free bag! That may not mean a lot to some people, but like I said- we go through a LOT of food! WHEW. Summary: Unleashed is an awesome store & I was very impressed all around! If you live in Raleigh, Cary, or Wilmington, check them out!

About a year ago I received a dog bed that was bought here for me as a gift. The size was too large for my dog so I went into the store to exchange it. The girl at the counter was very nice. She took the bed and walked me over to the other ones and said to pick out whatever one I wanted for exchange, that they would give me credit for the difference in the price of a smaller one. I saw a pile of them in a corner to the side behind a shelf and asked if those were available too because I saw one that I liked immediately. She said "absolutely! you are welcome to choose from any of them." I browsed for a second and then walked over to the pile to pick up the one I had my eye on. As soon as I touched it, another girl walked up from the back of the store and harshly said something along the lines of "Hey you! What are you doing? No no no…stop. Put that back." She then pointed at the bed in my hand and told me that I couldnt just wander around grabbing whatever I wanted and that the beds in the pile werent priced for sale yet. She also said that I shouldnt be in that area and that I needed to ask for assistance if I wanted something not on a shelf. As I was getting this rude lecture the other girl overheard her and walked over, telling her that she had already spoken with me. They whispered for a second and then she encouraged me to take the bed, so I did, even the other girl looked angry about it. It made me feel very awkward and I didnt like being scolded like a child… I felt bad for the nice girl because she was trying very hard to give me top notch customer service but the experience was kind of ruined by the crabby girl. I had a credit for the store after this exchange. I went back to use it recently to buy a dog toy and had a somewhat better experience, but I still kind of avoid this place because of the way I was treated that one time!

I have been coming here for a few years b/c they usually carry the only toy my dog wont immediately destroy (Mighty Dog Toys) but had never really purchased anything else. I was looking for a different food for my cat who is overweight and decided to see what they had. One sales associate asked if she could help me and I explained what I was looking for. She consulted with another sales associate who came over and looked at some foods with me. We talked about my cat and about what foods they carried, quality, quantity to feed, ingredients, price etc... Both were friendly and personable. The girl who ended up helping me (a manager maybe? Her name is Ana) pulled a food for me and told me to take it home, try it out and see if my cat liked it. She also pulled 3 sample size packs of food to send with me in case my cat didnt like the bigger bag. I was surprised and beyond pleased that she sent everything home with me for free. She told me about upcoming events at the store, the frequent buyer program, and offered to order my dogs favorite toys since they were out. The service was excellent and as it turns out, my cat LOVES the food. Will definitely be purchasing that food from them again and maybe switch my dogs food as well. Great experience.

My dog started having seizures several months ago. The vet tried him on a couple different medicines none of which seemed like they were helping, and the seizures were becoming more frequent. I have never been into the holistic thing but decided to give it a try so I went to Unleashed not really knowing what I was looking for. They were very helpful in my search and recommended Stella and Chewy raw, frozen dog food. I would not have picked this out on my own but when the girl was explaining it to me why this food is a good option for my dog and it made sense. Plus the food was a lot more affordable than I expected which was a great bonus. Oh and they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee she told me which is nice, I wasnt sure if he was even going to like this new food. He hasnt had any more seizures since eating the Stella and Chewy food and that was about a month ago. I have been back 2 more times for other things and will continue to shop here. This place is great if you know what you are looking for and really great if you dont.
