First time customer visit and multiple rude employees and manager. Not planning on going back- I can get the same items cheaper on Amazon and avoid the rude employees. Also noticed all checkouts were closed when I went up and could only go to customer service to check out, yet at least 3 employees were hanging around chatting rather than working/keeping even one checkout line open. Also the price match thing is not as easy as its advertised, took about a half hour to do between searching the item prior to going to customer service and arguing my point with them; has to be matched right down to the exact color and size and original price too etc with no variation and super specific about which retailers and "shipped and sold by Amazon" directly , although the policy doesnt say that. Ive price matched at other places, such as Target before to amazon and it was a much smoother process.

Walked in the store all the way to the firearms department and not one sales associate greeted me. Walked around the firearms department ammo isle, safe isle, gun case isle for THIRTY minutes not one associate asked if I needed help. Then I walked up and down the front glass gun case counter still no acknowledgement. However every customer that was not African American such as myself got greeted. A guy walked from behind me to the counter and got acknowledged before me. I literally watched guy look at me and then turn away. He walked to the back room so I waited till he came out to see if he had a name tag but there wasnt one. I aint the type to bring alot of race stuff but really didnt like it and there are a handful of African American employees at that. They have cheaper prices then gander mountain, but atleast gander has better service and gander price matches too. Disgusted!

Called local stores which were all sold out of special deal, called this store 200 miles away, they had some left in stock, explained distance involved and that I was worried that they would be out of stock by the time I got there and was promised that if they were that I could get a rain check for later. Upon arrival was told that the deal was sold out and no rain checks would be given. Asked to speak to a manager and explained (politely) the situation and was completely blown off and told I was out of luck. 200 miles of driving for nothing! I will never set a foot inside an academy sports store again. I put my money where my mouth is and they will not get a penny of my money. Ill buy from buds online or pay more at a local small town dealer. I encourage everyone else to boycott this dishonest place too. When academy ends up like gander mountain it will serve them right.

Came here to look at their BB gun selection. Ended up getting followed for 15 minutes. I then went to go look at the baseball hats and still followed to the next section of the store. I asked the guy who was following me if I could speak to a manager he kept telling me he couldnt reach him on the radio. The manager finally came over and said to me if we wanted to talk to you we would have and that some stuff had got stolen and I looked like I stole the stuff. The sales guy walked passed me, maybe 15 times in the store. Never coming here again.

I was very disappointed in the selection of tennis gear. Tennis is probably one of the most popular sports in Greensboro for adults, but there arent many places where you can find a nice selection of tennis paraphernalia. This new store has a little more selection than Dicks, but still only a tiny section. They did tell me they have ONE pair of "tennis" shoes. I made sure to tell a staff member my thoughts and he said I was not the first to mention this. Maybe if we all get together and let them know we want more they will listen up!

I visited the store recently and witnessed this woman named Chris acting very disrespectfully to a few employees. I overheard her telling them that they must ask to use the restroom and also calling them incompetent. I immediately left. I will never shop at this location again due to this womans actions. She was the worst customer service representative I have ever witnessed in life. No respect for her peers at work and also very unprofessional. Academy should really look further in to the employees they have representing them.

The price match policy is lip service. They do not have the details on their tags to look up the exact item and by exact item they really mean it down to the unique color. With all the variation in products Nike, Underarmour, etc you will be tough pressed to get an identical match based on the in-store tag. Another example of bait and switch. Do yourself a favor and simply buy your stuff online and watch stores like this crumble under the inexorable progression of online retail.

Huge selection. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. A bit slim on the archery accessories (will change in fall) At the time of this review, they are selling swimming pool gear. (Summer season items, pool maintenance) Expect to pay about 10% more than the local competition for most brand name current season sport clothing. (1$ to 5$ difference) may be a result of this being a new store.

I would like to say who ever this Kerstin Welsh is a liar. The woman she is talking about is a great customer service leader. She is always pleasant and respectful to everyone around her in and out of the store. My experience at this location is very professional and pleasant. Please go and experience it for your self. You will also rate the employees and store great. God bless .

They advertise match and beat any advertised price even online is NOT true. I brought them an online ad for something they had in stock and after 15 mins of waiting they came back and said theyre not gonna honor there price match because it wasnt a local company. Now there fine print says theyll match Amazon which isnt local. Lost my business forever over $40.

I attended the grand opening. It is big! In a very nice location and offers a wide variety of sporting and outdoor goods. The employees may have been nervous or still learning but a few were not able to provide information I needed. It is very comparable, however, to its seasoned competitors.

I got treated very nice by the staff. The first review left is bogus tho. It says 1 week ago. The store just opened Monday so there is no way its correct. Pricing seems about average. Will be intrested to see how they measure up over time....

Seems to have a decent selection. The only downside is (when looking for fly fishing equipment) there was one name brand and Magellan, a brand Ive never seen or experienced. I would like to have seen more specialty brands in-store.

Great selection. Had very long line at the checkout. It took 20 minutes to checkout. They only had two checkouts while four employees stood around at the "customer service" counter and watched.
