I recently had the chance to take the motorcycle course to obtain your bike license through Rommels Harley Davidson in Durham. I am not a novice biker rider and thought it may be fun for my wife and 24 year old son. I have no problem with the teachers , but the class is not designed to teach newbies how to ride a motorcycle. Class hours are set from Thursday & Friday (6 to 9:00 pm) and all day Saturday & Sunday (8 to 6:00 pm). I had a chance to actually spend less than two hours on a bike for the first three days. For the first three days I was being sold on buying a Harley for at least three hours per day. Tours of the bike show room, clothing, service dept. etc. A waste of our time because I did not want to buy anything. All day Saturday we were on the shops back range in 95 degree heat where I watched five out of 8 people routinely drop their bikes because of size. Rommel Harley uses 500 cc clutched bikes that are too large and powerful to teach beginners. Every time a bike dropped a safety check needed to be preformed that took at least twenty minutes out of everybodys riding time. Practice lot is too small. Needless to say there was a lot of frustration in the class room. My personal opinion for anyone wanting to obtain your motorcycle license and learn how to stay alive on the road is to find a course where the bikes are smaller and more time is paid to actually riding the motorcycle. Riding a motorcycle in America is very dangerous. Constant driver distraction is always a big issue, learning how to operate and control your bike is paramount to not getting yourself hurt or even worse. I feel this class really missed on this concept. It clearly gave the other participants the thought process that they would be capable of being able to be road ready and capable of riding on the streets, this was not the case. I personally feel it is designed first to sell bikes and accessories, it was a waste of my time and money!

Excellent customer service if youre only dealing with sales and parts and Retail. It seems as if the main objective is how much time the tech keeps your bike in the shop to maximize their $125 an hour service fee. Which is more expensive than anyone else in the area even ray-price. Now I understand why people take their bikes to Ray-Price and go out the way to avoid racing bull Harley-Davidson. If you want a good deal go to racing bull if you want Parts go to racing bull. If you want your vehicle work done in a timely manner by professionals. That know what theyre doing without idiotic problems that should not come from a tech or their service department. You should take the time to go somewhere else. 1100 dollars was spent and the job. I provided all the parts. That came from somewhere else. My Bike is stuck on high Beam. I have no break. My mirrors was just slapped on . Then the tech adjusted it so I couldnt see traffic. Very professionally done. This is how they treat Military Vets. I will never go back and have anything done to my bike. I would void my warranty before I take it back to race and the bull for service

Giving one star because I have to. This place started out great until they received my money. I drove and trailered my bike all the way from Fayetteville to Durham because of Tim in parts and the Feb deal on tires. I needed a battery and inspection so had all of the above done. I paid the $740, was happy until I rode the bike 5 miles down the road. The battery cover came off and I couldnt get it back on properly. It was 4:20 and they close at 5pm. Again 5 miles from the dealership. The Service manager only stated they didnt have time and could maybe possibly tie strap it until I could bring it back in! I trailered it there from Fayetteville 1 and half hours away! They didnt have time, yet they replaced my battery and indeed had to remove that cover to install that new battery I just paid them for. I am sorry, but they will not get any more of my hard earned money! You can bank on that!

I bought my 2014 Street Glide from Rommel-HD and could not have been more pleased with the treatment I received. They address every question and are knowledgeable on the products. Compared to what we used to have (Sheltons-HD) its a night and day difference. I will definitely continue to buy my Harleys for this dealer. Do yourself a favor and talk to them before you buy somewhere else. UPDATE: The didnt pay off my trade for over 30 days. Causing a late fee to appear on my account. I have never made a late payment. If your going to buy from Rommel make sure you dont have a trade you owe any money on. Also I have spent over 50k in that dealership over the last 4 years and they cannot even respond to an email about my experience. They have lost ALL of my future business. If they can let someone who drops 50k walk out the door without a fight then what does that say about their dealership.

WOW - I impressed!! I just had my first experience with Rommel HD in Durham and it was outstanding! Steve, in Parts, did an outstanding job showing me the different options I could go with on my Street Glide, while Dane, in Service, helped me get my bike checked in to Service to get some maintenance done and have some accessories installed. Garret showed me some tricks regarding my Infotainment System. They got the job done quicker than expected at a very reasonable price. Julian, the service manager, spoke with me when I picked the bike up and reviewed the work that had been done. Boy, did it look good!! Thanks guys and see ya soon!!!

So not sign anything unless you are def. want to go through with the transaction. Decided after a few hours at home this was not in the best interest for my son and yet they have made it so you can not get out of a deal. Sadly they talked him out of a used bike and put him in a new bike. Someone that only is 19 and has a learners permit for a motorcycle. Sadly they pushed him into this. Not taking his best interest only the interest of the sale!!!

Bought a 2016 Sportster Roadster in July. Then added 2K worth of upgrades. All the guys there from Bill in sales who sold me the bike, as well as Gus, And Ken to the guys in parts and service; Julian, Dane, Garrett, DJ and Steve are top notch straight shooters. I can be a bit of a jerk, and these guys treated me great! They were patient, informative, and very helpful. I will buy all my bikes and parts from this crew from here on out.

I can not express enough the gratitude that Denny and I feel towards Rommel. We live in Raleigh and drove past the dealership in our neighborhood to buy our bike from Rommel. Gus and Jack went above and beyond to make Dennys new bike possible. They have made us customers for life, and we strongly recommend you at least stop in this store before purchasing a new bike for yourself.
