Such a disappointment! I grew up and lived most of my life in Miami, FL where Publix has the best grocery stores in town. Moved to Raleigh six months ago and was happy to see this store in Cary was opening. I waited until today to make the long drive there to get groceries, and was so dissapointed that they built this store to their "new" layout, which is like a rat maze for shoppers. Here are the pros and cons. Pro: - excellent bakery, but unfortunately none of the items I counted on. No seeded rye bread, no unseeded rye bread, no onion rolls, no onion pockets. Prices on their other baked goods are better than most local bakeries. - friendly employees are everywhere - quick checkout and help to the car. Unfortunately they managed to dump over my items from the bakery so that they were all crushed by the time I repacked them at the car. I wish they just would have let me handle my own bags! Cons: - the store layout is the same insane rat maze they are using for new stores everywhere. I am a vegetarian, so I look for good produce, in a logical layout, and tou wont find it here. Want local organic produce? Good luck. You can have some organic, or very little local, but try and find both! Want to walk from the produce section to dairy? First you have to find the path that takes you by wine, the stinky seafood section, then past the dead bloody meats so brilliantly displayed. Nice. Then a trek past central frozen foods, dry goods and finally to the far end of the store. Their consultants probably told them this was great for sales, but for me I wont be going back. - loved all the international foods at Publix stores in South Florida. Here it is just a real dissapointment with much less than my local Food Lion or Harris Teeter. So not worth the drive, and wish them well, but I wont be shopping at Publix anymore! After spending $50+ at Publix, I stopped at my local Harris Teeter on the way home to buy all the groceries I couldnt find. Meh!

The day it opened was the first time I had ever been to Publix and it will be the last. I spent over $142. that day and I spent over $25.00 on some pork dishes. When I got home and fixed them for my family each one of us found small pieces of bone throughout our meal. I immediately took the dishes and trashed them as they were not eatable. On facebook there were numerous people commenting on their experience at the new Publix. I told my story and whoever the person was that monitored the Publix site immediately asked me to privately discuss this with him. I did and he apologized and had me believing that Publix truly cared. He said that he would see that I got a refund. After about 1 1/2 weeks I receive a whopping $5.00 gift card. Keep in mind that I had taken pictures of exactly what I had bought which also showed how much I spent on each dish along with a copy of my total amount spent that day. Since this person told me to contact him if I had any other concerns so I did. He hesitantly stated he could see if they would send me another one. Needless to say I was not happy at all. I even sent the pictures of the dishes and my total receipt to the corporate office and stated how very unhappy I was not only that I had wasted money but that someone could have really gotten sick trying to swallow small pieces of pork bones. Publix states "Our guarantee" "We will never knowingly disappoint you. If for any reason your purchase does not give you complete satisfaction, the full purchase price will be cheerfully refunded immediately upon request." This is BS as they have totally ignored my situation. This is a brand new store and they have stated loud and clear they REALLY dont care. I am furious at how I was treated and I will let it be known to anyone and everyone. I only gave them a one because you have to click at least one. Horrible service and no respect to their customers.

Three stars because, well, its Publix and no one can deny the atmosphere in this grocery store is great. But severely disappointed in their produce. As Georgia/Florida transplants, my spouse and I were So glad to hear that a Publix had been newly built in Cary. We thought, good, when we move, we wont have to find a new grocery store. Im sad to report that this Publix is not nearly as good as the Publixes back home. The atmosphere is the same, but the produce simply sucks. Bags of Publix brand hearts of romaine, green beans, and broccoli that weve brought home are already browning when we put them in the fridge. Half of the time we go there are no bananas at all, and when they are there they are brown and bruised. You would think that if they were trying to break into a new market, they would make it the best they could. I guess well have to try out Harris Teeter.

After visiting the Cary store I am rooting for Publix to win its zoning battle and open a comparable shop in North Raleigh. I remember Publix from visiting my grandparents decades ago in Florida. It has become an upscale chain with just about every desirable specialty area. Coupled with friendly customer service and competitive pricing, Publix will earn my business. I expect it to serve warning to Harris Teeter and Whole Foods on cost and value. Only drawback was the prepared foods -- items on the hot bar looked much better than they tasted. **12/4 FOLLOW UP: The stores deli manager reached out to me personally to seek feedback on ways to improve customer serve and food quality. I was impressed by the direct contact and the sincere desire to make things right. I look forward to visiting Publix again soon and will give the prepared foods section another shot.

Jury is still out ... 2 visits have been just ordinary trips to the grocery store ... there are very noticeable differences in prices whether they are more or less expensive ... todays trip I felt was very budget friendly as many of the items I was looking for were BOGO (albeit Publix brand - well with the exception of the Frenchs Mustard haha) but boneless skinless chicken breast were and my conversation with Caleb in the Meat section made me confident that when compared to Tyson, etc..there was no sacrifice in quality. Everyone is very helpful and the store is very clean ... but nothing tips the scale for me that would make me drive the extra distance as compared to the Harris teeter and food lion closer to my home or the lowes (which i love) that is closer than the Publix ...

My mom and I went 2 Publix when it 1st opened it doors. It didnt have a huge wow factor about it. Heres why, starting with the positives, its in nice area, people are super friendly, and the store is clean. However, here the negatives, selection is by far mediocre from bakery, produce, groceries, seafood, etc. Not a very good produce selection. As far as bakery and deil goes, not very appealing to customer. More bland than WOW!!! Also, there are no kind of reward cards whatsoever,so you dont know if your saving $$$. So thats important to the consumer. The paper bags dont have handles on them, so its much of hassle carrying them in your hands. If you enjoy finding deals on groceries, youre better off shopping elsewhere. This isnt the place that I would recommend shopping.
