My wife and I recently visited Dr Tucker’s office for our annual eye exam last week. This visit was not our first encounter with Dr Tucker and his staff. We have been seeing Dr Tucker annually since 1993. In 2007 we retired and moved from Cary to the beach. We found other medical services at the beach, but we could not see placing the health of our eyes with another eye doctor. So, we stayed with Dr Tucker and are quite comfortable driving 2 ½ hours from our home to see Dr Tucker and make the 2 ½ hour drive back home. As we grow older, our eye exams become very important to us since they ensure our vision is the best it can be and they can identify health issues early. The level of service we receive is of the highest professional level. It starts with the desk staff who greet you with a smile and a hello. The technical staff continues the professional level of service as they collect diagnostic data; enabling Dr Tucker to provide a complete eye exam. Your last stop is the selection of frames and lenses. The whole process leaves you at ease and feeling everyone has treated you like a family member.

Upon arriving, the front desk receptionist was very nice and kind. Once I got to the nurse, she was very distracted and didnt pay me much attention. I saw Dr. Tuckers associate. She rushed my son through the eye exam. I had to tell her to slow down several times. She never did slow down during the eye exam. My son could not focus his eyes correctly. Once she told me that he needed glasses, I was skeptical because I felt that she rushed the eye exam. She reassured me that she had been doing it for years and knows that he needs glasses. She tried to tell me that the glasses were not covered under insurance, but I felt like she was implying that I could not afford the glasses. Once I checked out, the glasses were only $130 and I was really offended.

So I went in to this doctors office to get a foreign object flushed out of my eye. I was not in much pain and told the receptionist that. She gave me the forms to fill out and I went to hand her my insurance card and before I even gave it to her she mumbled we dont take that and pointed to the forms I had to fill out. I ofcourse assumed she meant to fill out the insurance provider information on the sheet first. Long story short the Doctor was very nice and got the object out, but when I went to pay I was forced to pay a high out of network price when it was not clearly communicated that my insurance provider was out of network. My only recommendation to the staff would be to communicate things like that better before seeing the doctor.

My family started going to Dr Tucker when we moved here in 1998. Its safe to say weve been through a lot together over the years! I had problems with Lacik surgery (elsewhere) and he was always there for me, even in the middle of the night when I had unexpected problems. The annual exams there are by far the most thorough...my kids have moved away after college and complain about their exams in their new locations, saying they are nothing like Dr. Tuckers office. And for anyone looking for a superb contact lens specialist, Dr. Wieand cannot be beat, another comment I hear from my kids in their new locations. Now it is time for us to move away also, and of all of the medical folks we see here, they are the ones I will miss the most!

6 Stars for Dr. Tucker. The visit was pleasant. Got all my questions answered. I would definitely recommend Dr. Tucker. -1 (Yes, -1) for customer service over the phone. Front desk personnel was great when I visited the office both for the checkup, and later to pick up my glasses, but the 2 times I had to interact with someone over the phone, it was incredibly awful. Yes, I understand the person at the other side of the line may be busy (as we all are), but there are ways to cut the customer, or ask questions, and dont give that "you are wasting my time" attitude. I let the first time pass as a fluke. It may not have been a good day. However, it happened again and it was bad enough that it made me write this review.

I have been going to Dr. Tucker for years. He is very knowledgeable and does a great job of explaining things. His exams are quick but thorough. He has avaialble a lot of technology that helps him see into the eye. He is also an excellent photographer and the pictures on the computer while you wait in the exam room are really beautiful. His practice is thriving. He deserves your time and attention. I have referred friends to him and they said the same. Dr. Tucker is just a really great eye doctor. I really appreciate him and his excellent service. Nice office, too, with friendly staff who remember my name. That says a lot.

My whole family has been going to Dr. Tucker and Dr. Wieand for more than 10 years. We are all pleased with the care we receive. The doctors and office staff are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and patient. Dr. Wieand was very diligent and concerned when my daughter developed an eye infection making sure to follow up and make sure she was improving. I am particularly difficult when it comes to finding glasses that fit right and work and Dr. Wienad and the staff are always helpful and patient. I have gotten glasses a couple of times other places to save money but am never as satisfied as I am with the glasses I get at the office.

I have been a patient of Dr. Tucker and Associates for about 32 years; as a young NCSU graduate student with keratoconus, in broken English, I remember cold calling Dr. Tucker on a Saturday and asking if he could see me urgently and help me with a set of new hard contact lenses ( that I just lost) so I can see better and resume my coursework at NCSU. Dr. Tucker made a special appointment, opened his office just for me, and solved my problem. I am so pleased to state that patient care with extreme professional competency has been enhanced through the years; thank you Dr. Tucker and Dr. Wieand for caring about me and my family.

Dr. Tucker has an excellent practice with knowledgeable staff. Ive only recently started to wear glasses so all of the necessary tests are still quite unfamiliar. I previously attended a franchise eye center where the person performing the eye tests didnt fully explain what was required and was visibly frustrating by my lack of understanding. At Dr. Tuckers practice, all procedures were thoroughly explained and performed with patience. Dr. Tucker is also very nice and extremely knowledgeable so I felt at ease during his appointment.
