After trying to take a picture of some beautiful wind chimes in this store, the older gentleman employee asked me to please not take pictures. After I complied and put my phone away, about 2 minutes passed of me quietly perusing to myself until he came back to me and started to accuse me of using his shop to test products to then go home and buy the product off the internet. I tried to explain that I was only interested in the tones of the chimes that the product had printed on its tag, but he only became more accusatory until I had to leave because he had destroyed any chance of me supporting his business. My experience was uneventful until he went out of his way to make me feel like my presence was an insult to his establishment.

I dont know why so many people have rated this store bad. Every time weve been, theyve been nice. No store clerk is going to smile and greet EVERY SINGLE PERSON who goes in the store. They probably have a bunch of people a day since its downtown, and most of them probably do not buy a thing. This store has some really cool things and a TON of tarot and oracle decks. Not to mention, awesome tie dyed clothing. Again, people at grocery stores dont greet and smile every time they have a new customer. Its ridiculous to give them a one star rating because of it.

My husband and I are metaphysical professionals who went in the Gaea to introduce ourselves and our work as well are new to Asheville. I was talking to a charming woman at the front desk when this tall, rude, grouchy, grumpy man interrupted me and said negative things about the nature of those in my profession. As we open our own business operations in the area, we will NOT, under any circumstances, send customers his way. In fact, we will deter folks from visiting his place. What a dark corner of the world on Lexington Ave.

You just got to love real people. No bullshit of "business as usual" here. Just read the signs and mind your manners. Tons of unique inventory and a real person sole proprietor ..what Ashevillle use to be. The mailman loves him..the UPS guy loves him..CAUSE HE TREATS THEM WITH RESPECT. He has a service to offer and only asks the same. At least he doesnt pretend to be something he is not. So give it a try but dont act stupid or he will call you out.

The "old man" was engaging, knowledgeable, and worldly. His style is a bit rapid fire but never felt rude. Reminds me of a time and a place when shopkeepers did not hide their personalities. The kind you could have a relationship with for life even if it stayed within the confines of their business. A time when we didnt call everyone we knew a friend but a good acquaintance meant something.
