First let me say, Forever is a great place. Its clean, the staff is friendly and very helpful. My P.A. piercing by Derek is flawless! After some great email correspondence, I went to see Derek a week ago today to talk about getting a piercing done...a Prince Albert! On my way there, I was a little apprehensive, but ready to do it if I felt comfortable. When I came in, Derek was very welcoming and friendly. During our consultation, he took me back to his studio, which was immaculate. I immediately noticed that every piece of metal in there was already in a sterile package. He didnt touch a single thing without first putting on gloves. Derek willingly and openly discussed with me, at length, the options for jewelry, how the actual piercing is done, after care methods and his experience in piercing as well as with this particular type. He was very candid and honest with me that he had only done a handful of Prince Alberts among the hundreds of other piercings hes done, but he assured me that he was totally confident in his skills. He could sense that I still wasnt sure, so he referred me to someone else nearby, whom he believed had more experience, and said I should at least talk to them. I thought that was very professional and took his advice. The fact that he had enough respect for his work and his clients to actually refer me to someone else, says a lot about his character. Half an hour later I was back at Forever. After shocking him with my description of the other establishment and piercer, I explained to Derek that his professionalism had more than won me over. I felt completely confident and comfortable with Dereks skill, workmanship, professionalism and overall demeanor. Obviously a P.A. is a pretty scary piercing, but I felt completely at ease with him during the whole process. I couldnt recommend Derek highly enough to anyone. He really knows his stuff! After agreeing on the placement of the mark, it was deep breath in, big exhale and it was done. The piercing went great! It looks awesome, and one week in is healing perfectly. Im really happy I did it. If any guys reading are thinking about getting a P.A. done, Go for it! And you have to go to Forever and see Derek! Hes a real stand up guy and outstanding professional.

This is a long review, so heres the long and short: Derek (and Forever Tattoo and Piercing) is great! Hes very knowledgeable and patient, the place is extremely clean, and overall it was a great experience. I was looking to get a spiral/weave piercing done. I already had two piercings, but I wanted to connect them with four new piercings. This is a slightly unusual piercing, so I had already tried one place in downtown Asheville before I walked into Forever Tattoo and Piercing. When I walked in, Derek (the piercer) greeted me. He was really friendly and attentive. I explained what I wanted, and he told me how hed go about doing it. I had originally planned to get the spiral piece put in at the same time as the piercing, but Derek suggested doing the piercings, letting them heal, and then putting the spiral piece in after a month or so. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to make sure I was on board with everything. The place itself (especially the piercing room) was extremely clean. All of the earrings come individually packaged and sterilized and were of the highest grade surgical steel. Derek took some time to clean down everything between the person before me and my piercing. He used a new needle for each of my piercings. When it came to the piercing itself, Derek explained every step of the way. Some people would call him chatty, but I really appreciated that he explained everything he was doing as he was doing it -- no surprises! He also had me do some breathing exercises while he was piercing, which I found really centered me and decreased the pain level to almost nil. Even after I paid, Derek was still very attentive to me. He took some pictures for his portfolio, and then walked me through the care instructions. He even gave me recommendations for who to go to when I get the spiral earring put in (Im from out of state, so I cant go back to him). Its been a week since I got my (quadruple) piercing, and everything is healing great. Ive had such a great experience with Forever Tattoo and Piercing. Definitely the place to go!

My girlfriend and I have received multiple piercings from Derek at Forever Tattoo and Piercing - and we have never been let down. The building itself is located in Downtown Asheville on Lexington Ave, and certainly fits into the Asheville scene. The inside is decorated with a lot of awesome photography and artwork, mostly by the staff, which is an incredible testament to their work within itself. Derek takes a massive amount of pride in his work, and from the moment we walked in he spent a great deal of time informing my girlfriend of her options (she was getting her tragus pierced), new piercing technology (Neo Metal - it is a phenomenal option to choose), as well as just being a generally awesome guy. The actual piercing was done very sterile, very professionally, and the outcome was perfect. Derek also calls periodically to check up on you and make sure everything is healing well, and is always willing to take a look, make adjustments, and do whatever you need to be completely satisfied. I recommend anyone who is looking to get a high quality, professional tattoo or piercing to visit Forever and just hear what they have to offer. I promise you will not be disappointed with the quality and pride of the work.

My Aunt who was like a mother to me died three years ago last Thanksgiving, and I want to get an oak leaf in her memory. My girlfriend has super bad anxiety and she spent an entire day driving around town and interviewing artist to pick one for me and he had the best work so she bought a gift certificate from him. She bought it last year and it was expired. I went by to talk to him about what I wanted and to set an appointment to have it done. when I got there he spent 15 minutes on the phone with a friend before he helped me. When he did come to help me I talked for about 2 minuted about what I wanted and he looked completely distracted the whole time. Then I showed him the gift certificate and said I know its expired, I didnt know if you would honor it or not. he looked very annoyed and said Ill honor 40.00 of it. (It was a 100.00 certificate.) I said I realize its expired, you dont have to if you dont want to I just thought I would ask. He said "Well no I dont want to, thats why it has an expiration date." I was like ok, thats fine well can I make an appointment? I would like to talk to you about what I want... He literally rolled his eyes as he walked away and said "yeah I know, you want an oak leaf...."

I spent hours researching local shops before deciding where to get my first tattoo. I found unclean shops, shops with poor reputations, shops with unscrupulous owners, and shops with good work but nothing that blew me away...until I saw the pieces that were coming out of Forever Tattoo. I knew that this is where I wanted to get my first piece done. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. My tattoo was exactly how I wanted it and there was a lot of time taken to ensure that the instruments were clean and I was cleaned up afterwards. I was offered a free touch up, but I didnt need it...a year later and it still looks fantastic. I am planning my second and third tattoos this summer at Forever as well and I am looking forward to getting them. The reception and detail are almost as impressive as the art. I have heard some people say they find Forever to be too expensive. It is true that you can get cheaper art in town but when it comes to body modifications I truly believe you get what you pay for. Yes, you can get a $5 scratcher tattoo (and possibly hepatitis!), but a beautiful design that you will continue to love costs money.
