The tattoo stations are not private and those who are waiting in the (tiny) entranceway can clearly see clients who are being worked on. I felt uncomfortable lifting up my shirt and exposing the side of my breast as onlookers gawked shamelessly. Although this was my third tattoo, I came in as a walk-in. The artist drew my piece free-hand and clearly did not make all the aspects even and symmetrical twice. He did not try to hide his irritation at my continued persistence to go back and perfect the design. I asked him to place it four separate times because it was not straight. He was highly annoyed by this request. I wanted my design to look a certain way and he told me he thought that was stupid and that it should be drawn a different way that would "look better" in his opinion. I was taken aback because it was a design that I had drawn myself and liked it the way it was - I wasnt looking for his own artistic interpretation... However, in the end, he convinced me to do it his way. The end product looks horrible. The lines are not even close to straight, there are bumps in (what should be) a smooth arc, he entirely butchered the shading, colors were not filled in all the way so there are spots of skin color where there shouldnt be, black lines that should be bold and clean are faded in awkward spots, the circular design is oblong, its just a mess. The thing cost me a whopping $150 when I really should have only been charged around $80. I have to get it fixed by another artist and now the piece is only barely salvageable and nowhere near the design I wanted on my body for the rest of my life. I am a young woman (age 21)

I want to give the most honest review I can of this business. Besides the building being in a very rough part of town and the interior being dirty and unwelcoming, it was the customer service that repulsed me the most. I went in for a nose piercing. Ive had this done twice before, and Ive seen the procedure done to a few of my good friends. I know how quick and simple it is, and if done right, virtually painless. At A Lectric City Tattoo, the employee piercing my nose put the needle through and then after having to walk across the room to get my ring, failed to put it in properly. I could tell something was wrong as he twisted the ring nervously over and over until he was sweating. I laid uncomfortably on the table squirming in pain for three minutes as my nose bled until I finally grabbed the employees arm and screamed at him to stop. This experience to me was unacceptable. Following the lazy and unprofessional procedure, the employee continued to be extremely rude, offering no genuine apologies. Though not all of the employees at this establishment may be as unprofessional, untalented and rude as the one who did my procedure, I still do not recommend this place. Its been a day now and my nose is still in pain- my left nostril is inflamed and what I thought originally was a marker dot on my nose, I realize now is a bruise.

Ive had two tattoos and a piercing done here and I have been pleased with the service I received. I recently had Emily work on and complete a half sleeve that I drew up for myself. She modified it to fit on my arm, so that it would not look odd with the way I had designed it and listened to my input about what colors Id like. All three sessions went well and I am very happy with the outcome of the finished design. Everyone that works there is very professional, and courteous. Each artist has their own unique style, and there is a lot to choose from in their books if youre looking for something specific! They are very open and helpful if you have questions or want to talk about a design that you have in mind. I definitely recommend stopping in and seeing them if youre in the area and looking to get either a piercing or a tattoo.

Emily worked a tattoo for me that I brought to her by an artist I know personally. While visiting Schenectady from Virginia, my artist friend drew this up for me, and rather than take the art home to have it worked in Blacksburg, VA, I decided to find an appointment at a well reviewed place locally so that my friend could see it happen and watch us place the art on my arm. Getting an appointment made for short notice was easy and Emily was very welcoming. We stopped in Thursdaay, and by Saturday we had that tattoo redrawn very slightly for proper line work, and had finished the process. That parlor credited my friend for his work on their instagram, and even gave me some aftercare lotion for free. All said, having taken a chance on Alectric City Tattoo I absolutely was both impressed and fully satisfied. Top marks.

Alectric City is the cleanest and most professional shop in this area. The staff are all very nice, welcoming and helpful. I had a piercing and tattoo done by the same person and he did an excellent job. He drew up a stellar design just how I wanted it and it came out amazing when it was finished. The prices are very fair and I would recommend this shop to everyone. If youre in the Schenectady area, go to this shop, NOT any of the others. You wont be disappointed here! The artwork hanging on the walls by all the artists is a true testament to the collective talent at Alectric City.

Happened to want a tattoo and did some research for shops close to my house and found Alectric City. Turned out to be a GREAT experience! Especially having my 4yr old and my 16mo old there with me! He showed great patience for me and them and I couldnt be more appreciative! I just love a place you can walk into with an idea and have a great guy like Devlin turn it into your masterpiece. I will definitely be going back to see him for my next piece of work and one BIG MAJOR point... they DO NOT overcharge AT ALL!!! Great prices for awesome work!!!!
