i went to the st. marks location because my friend had a pleasant experience there... i wish i could say the same. i came in to get my nostril pierced, and my friend wanted a septum piercing. immediately the piercer told us that the septum piercing could come out crooked and "look like mine" (um, excuse me, ive had my septum pierced for five years and ive never had anyone tell me it was crooked until now, thanks). my friend went first for the septum. i noticed they had signs EVERYWHERE about tipping (e.g. "tipping makes it hurt less", "tipping makes me answer your questions later")... it was pretty tacky. the entire time our piercer was telling us how he had refused to do septum piercings for two years because they never came out straight. ive gone with a handful of friends to get their septums pierced (as well as getting my own) and ive never experienced a piercer saying that they cannot do straight septum piercings. i noticed that this piercer did not use a clamp to help keep the needle straight. well, you can guess how it ended. the piercing came out noticeably crooked and looked ridiculous. he offered to re-do it but my friend was in a lot of pain and said to forget it. the piercer took the jewelry out and said there would be no charge. my nostril piercing went fine. i will say that the piercer had very gentil hands and the entire process was virtually painless... even when he was putting the jewelry in after the needle (which is always the part that sucks). for some reason i got REALLY dizzy a couple minutes after the piercing (ive had tons of piercings before and never experienced this... could be due to anything, it was hot out that day). i felt like i was going to be sick so i asked if there was a restroom i could use. the piercer said i could not use the restroom incase i pass out. he offered me the trash can and put up a little divider so that everyone in the lobby could not see me if i got sick. i appreciated the gesture but it was still really awkward. he gave me a can of soda to drink. when i asked the piercer about changing my jewelry, he told me i could change it in a week. ive had my nostril pierced before (different piercer) and was told not to even think about touching it for three months. the piercer also told me that it would be fully healed in about three weeks... which was very different from when my previous piercer told me it wouldnt be fully healed for about nine months. i was really confused by the information he was giving me, but he did offer to change the jewelry for free when i was ready. he even gave me a smaller hoop for free since i had to put a larger one in incase of swelling. overall pros: dude was nice and very accommodating, gave me free jewelry, did a good job on my piercing. cons: was not very knowledgeable about healing, cant do septum piercings. im 50/50 as to whether or not i would go back there for a piercing. really nice people but not entirely professional. oh and as we were leaving, a very young girl came in for a surface piercing... she "forgot" her i.d. but he said he would do it anyway after she showed him a tatttoo she had gotten previously. just sayin.......

Both Eric and Hunter are very professional and work quickly but accurately. They are very sociable and make you feel very comfortable. they made my entire tattoo experience memorable. Hunter did my first tattoo ever ... my baby sisters names and their date of birth right above my heart. And Eric did the celtic cross i got on my back. While the cross was extremely intricate, took a long time and hurt a great deal, Eric kept my mind off of the discomfort and kept reassuring me. When i first walked into Whatever Tattoo, Eric gave me his email and phone number so i could send him the pictures of my tattoos and talk about the prices. I went into the shop a couple weeks later to get my first tattoo and met Hunter. I didnt get to know him as well as Eric because i spent a lot more time talking with Eric both in person and through emails. I will definitely be returning to Whatever Tattoo and be recommending it to my fraternity brothers and any of my friends who are thinking of getting a tattoo. I brought two of my friends who have gotten several tattoos and they were both impressed with the staff and environment.

I wish there was a zero stars option. I read great reviews online about this place so I decided to go in to get my first tattoo ever while I was in the city. I went in and before I could even ask questions the woman in the front was OK youre getting a tattoo with Izzy and I was rushed to pick a font. I wanted to get a 5 letter word on my inner lip and I was told that was too long (even though I know people who have multiple words there) so I shortened it. He then placed the outline off centered and after he was done he told me that he messed up the last letter. I asked if he could go over it again and try to fix it and he said no but I could come in after a few weeks to touch it up. So I left, and despite the messed up "h" and off center tattoo I was still over the moon about it. It seemed to heal pretty fast which i was pleased with...it is now 24 hours later and the tattoo HAS FADED AWAY ALMOST COMPLETELY and I literally payed $100 for a temporary tattoo. I would not recommend this place if you are new to tattoos or want an artist that cares about the quality of his work or what YOU want.

OK i went all over st.marks looking for a good price and good quality. Whatever Tattoo had both, best price I came across and when the piercing was done it was straight and correct, used gloves clean needles the whole nine yards. The service was nice. The two women in the front were nice and friendly we even joked alittle cause i have so many piercings yet I still freak out. But the guy who did my piercing was just plain rude and unfriendly. He kept giving my boyfriend the evil eye cause he was in his light which is understand i told him to move over but I mean that was just uncalled for and when i tired talking to him just nothing no answer no comfort nothing he was just plain rude if i didnt get recommended by other people i would of just walked out. IDK bout the tattoo guy he seemed more alive when talking to customers. but yeah the women- great. the piercer not so much. overall I am happy with the piercings and glad I went thru with it.

I called up the day before I intended on going to Whatever Tattoo to get a quote on the piercing I wanted, two microdermals in my collar. The gentleman over the phone gave me a great price. Just to be safe than sorry I confirmed that I did not need an appointment, he said "Yeah, you should be fine just walking in." The next day after lunch I called again, before heading over there, to be sure a piercer would be there to take me. This time the gentleman on the phone was hard to understand, I told him I was heading over for two microdermals and that I wanted to be sure they are there. It took a minute to convey I wanted them done and not removed. Once he understood he went on to inform me they did not have them there. He redirected me to "the other shop" which upon looking up I found to be in Brooklyn.
