We purchased an electric recliner loveseat 2/16/13 in anticipation of my husband’s total knee replacement surgery which occurred on 3/22/13. It was delivered 3/19/13 so my husband could recuperate comfortably. On 3/19/13 they brought the non-electric chair which we refused to accept. We went to the store and after a very long conversation, being lied to and them trying to make us pay more money, they agreed to send the appropriate chair that we had been promised. Unfortunately the chair could not be delivered until 4/2. On 3/29 we received a call that the chair would now not be delivered until 4/4. The unbelievably rude woman who called could not care less about the problems your store was creating. When I stated we will likely have to cancel and search elsewhere she said just said "fine" and hung up. On 4/1 the store called to confirm the delivery on 4/4. My husband asked if it was the electric chair, and “shocker” it was not. This has created a major problem for my DISABLED husband. We made this purchase well in advance of his major surgery to avoid such problems. Now he has been home and cannot get up off our current furniture without assistance. It causes a great deal of pain, prohibits his proper healing and has caused him severe emotional distress. I have had to take almost two weeks off from my own job. This in itself cost me time I did not really have to spare, thousands in overtime pay and a warning from my employer. Is your company in the habit of lying to all customers or just the disabled ones? Are you prepared to lose business from us and everyone we know? Creating hardship for an already disabled man and being lied to repeatedly is not in your best interest. Lenny at the Poughkeepsie store was the first liar, who first tried to make it right at least to our face, Mike, his boss, was the second who blamed Lenny saying he had no right to help us the way he did. Mike also rudely insulted my husband and his disability. This is unacceptable. We tried to be VERY accommodating and forgiving but were treated horribly. Either that or the incompetence is beyond comprehension and the fact you still have a business is astonishing. We are fully prepared to get this story out to every social media, friend, family and newspaper/TV and will make sure the story remains fresh in the minds of any person we can get to for a long time to come. As of now we have cancelled the original order. We went to Raymore and Flannigan the evening of 4/1, found a beautiful piece of furniture that will be delivered this Thursday. When we told them of our problems dealing with Ashley Furniture, not only were they NOT surprised, they gave us a fabulous deal on higher quality furniture.

My experience at Ashleys was great. I cant say enough good things about Nick, who was patient with my significant other and I as we floundered trying to make a final decision. He helped us with financing, met with us the several times that we came in and was always extremely pleasant. If I were ever to purchase furniture again, I would definitely go to him first. However, the less-than-stellar review is due to the furniture itself being problematic. We purchased a power reclining leather sofa, a lift-top cocktail table, and a TV stand/fireplace combo. The TV stand/fireplace combo has not had any issues. When we first got the couch, we noticed that reclining on the left side caused it to catch on the right side. After a week, we were able to get someone to come take a look. It was determined that the bolts on the one side of the couch were too long. They were trimmed and the issue was resolved. That day, we also received our cocktail table (which we were waiting for as it was brand new and not in yet). The delivery men brought us a broken table - the area underneath the lift had completely fallen off. They assured us that it was "completely normal and happens all the time" and glued it back on. The table will not shut completely and the corners are not square. They told us it was because of the floor in the apartment not being flat? This issue is hopefully going to be resolved next week, when yet another repair person is sent our way, but we are of course frustrated with the lost time on taking off of work to have these issues handled. It is disheartening to purchase a $600 coffee table, to have it come in broken, and to be told that "this is completely normal and happens all the time". We have our fingers crossed that this issue will be resolved promptly and well.

This was my first experience ever buying furniture from a furniture store and will never purchase from Ashley Furniture again. Not only is the quality marginally better than the bargain brand, they fail to disclose specific conditions that will lead to spending more money in the store. They advertise that they allow you to customize your furniture. They know exactly what it sounds like to customers - that you can get a material and color in any select furniture. What they really mean is that they dont sell furniture in specific sets. I should have guessed from that early sign that they are deceivers. My wife and I purchased a living room set believing that we could fit it in the door. The sales guy told us if we were not sure they could have someone come measure for a fee. I figured to take the risk and if it didnt fit we would just be stuck with the delivery fee. To our dismay, the sofa did not fit. When we returned to the store, we just could not find another sofa to our liking and so we mentioned we want to look at other stores. That is when they told us that there are no refunds on purchases. They even made it sound like they were doing us a favor by allowing us to choose another sofa. We finally settled on a more expensive ugly sofa that would fit in the door. It then took another 6 weeks for them to deliver the sofa. Finally after having the furniture for a year, the quality is pathetic. The sofa sags and the dining table shows signs of wear. I would recommend buying from a store that will deliver what you expect. We expected great things from Ashley Furniture and got garbage.

I purchased a three price sectional at the Poughkeepsie NY location on 10/17/16 and spent over $2500.00. They told me it would be delivered 8 days later on 10/25/16. I was excited to get this sofa and it was a pretty big purchase for me but was later apprehensive after reading the terrible reviews about this couch. I called the store and spoke with Sean who sold me the sofa and told him I was really worried that this would not be a good quality sofa based on reviews. He reassured me that Ashley furniture stands behind their products and will come out and repair or replace any issues for 5 years. So I waited for the couch to come and when they delivered it, it was missing a cushion. I waited an hour with the delivery men on hold to speak with the distributors and the women told me that I would have the cushion in 2 business days. So two weeks after the delivery, And countless phone calls, I receive just the cover to the cushion without the actual cushion. So now its been 3 weeks since I purchased this couch and cant use a third of it. I spent 3 hours on the phone with 6 different people and there solutions were to wait another "few" days for the cushion, go to Walmart and buy some stuffing and make my own cushion, or drive to their store and get the dirty floor model cushion. This is a really big purchase for a 23 year old and having to wait almost a month for a full couch is un acceptable. Ashley clearly does not stand behind their customer service, distributors, delivery service or products. And Heather from the call center in Edison NJ needs a lesson in etiquette.
