I was with 8 of my other teammates on a Saturday ride through piermont, and we stopped into the store to look around while one of our teammates had her bike serviced. As we were grabbing our bikes to leave, the owner marched outside to speak with us. Apparently he was displeased (read: outraged) that we hadnt properly hung a jersey back on the rack after looking at it. He approached us (within inches of our faces) and proceed to yell at us about how much money people like us cost him, and how rude and inconsiderate we are. We apologized, but stated that it was not intentional and we didnt appreciate him being so aggressive. This was lecture number one. He returned - TWO MORE TIMES - while we were waiting outside for the teammate having her bike serviced - and screamed some more, informing us that we were sorry excuses for ladies and that he didnt ever want to see us back in his store. We apologized again, but asked him to back off. A man stepped in to defend us, another took the shop owners side.. all in all - it nearly turned into a brawl - all over the fact that we didnt properly hang a jersey on the rack.. which we apologized for. (though the last time i checked, no retail store actually expects customers to hang and fold merchandise to their satisfaction. Not to say that it isnt something you should do - but its definitely not something to start a fight over..) all in all, he was rude, unprofessional, and could probably be charged with assault for the way he acted. He was way out of line. We will make sure to take our business elsewhere.

This is the first online review I have ever written, but I felt that it was important to share my experiences with Piermont Bicycle Connection because they have really treated me right over the years. I am an avid cyclist and have bought a number of bikes from Piermont Bicycle Connection. I purchased a high-end bicycle from them in the fall 2009 and this spring I noticed a small crack in the frame I was beside myself, but Glenn and the whole staff at Piermont Bike really helped me through the experience every step of the way. They were able to negotiate getting a replacement bicycle for me in record time and at no cost to me. While there may be better "deals" available at online retailers, it is priceless to have the security that there will be someone there who can help you if something breaks on your bike. It is an investment worth making in my opinion. They also offer free adjustments for the lifetime of the bicycles they sell, which certainly can add up! Their ebay program is a great way to help finance bicycles, gear and accessories. I drop off stuff for them to sell on my behalf and the proceeds of the sale are instantly converted to store credit with absolutely no effort on my part. Its genius! Not only do they cater to the cycling enthusiast, but they are just as happy to sell a recreational bike for families and children. I have sent a number of friends there to buy something to ride casually on the weekends or for their childs first bike. They have all left satisfied, feeling that they got great service and a good deal.

I am not exaggerating this review for starters. I truly had a terrible experience here, and left in a terrible mood as well as a headache. Just to be clear, Glenn is a great guy - I spoke to him for only a few minutes but he was polite and answered every question in a generous and informative manner. I absolutely couldnt STAND one of the other guys in the shop who ended up doing all the work for me. Mind that I only spoke to him twice and got enfuriated every time because he acts as if he knows everything, and Im supposed to know everything he does or Im some kind of newbie or someone he doesnt want to speak to. The prices here are absolutely ridiculous. I got a bike for free and all I wanted was an inspection and a switch of tires before riding. I walked out of there two days later with a $180 check JUST for this, and they didnt even mention that I was going to be spending $50 PER TIRE. $70 for a tune up is absolutely ridiculous, especially if you cant even tell me what you did when I asked you what you did for the tune up. I could have went on craigslist and bought a better bike with fine tires and a tune up for less than what I spent to service a free full suspension bike in good condition. I see all these reviews to be five stars when they went in and purchased a bike. Sure this may be a good spot if you want to pick up a bike, since they have a large collection. But if youre getting your bike serviced, do it somewhere else. You dont ever want to meet this guy.

young guy (relativly young guy) helped me and i was greatly disapointed in the service provided... didnt give me the time of day... Looks down upon me when i asked for a first bike around 1k... So i live relativly close to this shop and used to go in there to look at buying a new road bike. The first time i went in there they were kind of busy and sort of brushed me off and just showed me a bike, not really spendidng time to explain. ( i can understand they were busy) so i went in a couple of days later when they were dead to ask them a few questions, since i was buying my first bike i had a lot of questions. The young man who i started to talk to was sort of snobish in the sence that he made it clear i was wasting my money if i didnt spend more... so i ended up going to a different local bike store and ended up buying my bike from there. The story doesnt end there, i went in a few weeks later asking about pedals. I hadnt bought pedals yet, due to not enough money. So i was asking about pedals, and the first question the guy asked me (same guy who was a snob) "how much did you spend on your bike?" I didnt think that really mattered but told him any way, 1k, but it was significantly discounted. After telling him he point to a pedal and went on his way. He didnt give a crap about me. They are only interested in high end customers, not help full and very snobbish. I would not recommend them to any one. I would how ever recommend Westwood cycle and Ridgewood Cycle.

This establishment is truly a rare gem and Glenn Davgin, owner and his entire staff are truly a rare breed. The preponderance of bicycle enterprises tend to demonstrate preferential treatment to accomplished cyclists who are inclined to purchase high-end merchandise. Well, you will find said individuals frequenting Piermont Bicycle Connection. However, whether you are approaching Chris Froome status, or an individual who simply wants to purchase a reasonably priced bike to tour their neighborhood at a leisurely pace, Glenn and the gang will literally bend over backwards for you...there are no questions too simplistic to pose and you will never receive a condescending response. The latter typifies many of the pretentious bicycle outfitters. And you can test ride a wide range of bikes. The EBAY division of Piermont Bicycle Connection will truly provide you with the "most bang for your buck," And, their revamped cafe provides a savory array of food offerings and great coffee concoctions (a true treat is when Glenns son is behind the counter assuming the role of Barista - his Espresso mixtures "Rock"). For those of you who do not reside in the Piermont area - I assure you, it is worth a drive, whether for an hour or for several hours. You will invariably get the best deal around for the entire family. Yours truly, Martin Weinstein Retired School Superintendent and Principal
