this is the kind of place you might have found in "old New York", independantly owned, and operated. having said that, they do make their own rules and are not bound to some corporate employee handbook. its a 24 hour hardware store, and a SERIOUS ONE AT THAT, they have many items that home depot would never carry (too specialized) which leads me to believe the "rudeness" some experience is the frustration of the associate due to the lack of knowledge and information the typical customer might have, being this is located in a residential neighboirhood. i do agree there is a percentage of staff that is basically brain dead, and more of a security guard than a hardware specialist. the key is to find one of the 3 or 4 highly technical, and knowledgeable associates in the store. there is always someone there who knows. but they dont have much patience ffor the novice hardware shopper. being an artist, i work late nights, so the Nuthouse has been a god send for me since they opened. no place else in the city to get raw steel and concrete mix at 3am! who cares if theyre rude actually, at that time, they can be however they want, haha.....

This place had saved me a lot of headaches and helped me to get the job done at times when no other hardware store was opened in Manhattan. Every business should have at least one place or office opened 24 hours 7 days a week service. Another two reasons for my 5 star review are helpful, knowledgeable salesmen and pricing in general is within range. Obviously, having an option of buying online or from a big department store like Home Depot or Lowes, there is no doubt youll find cheaper prices than a small store. The clear advantage is to have a hardware store available 24/7 in Manhattan. Great for businesses, especially general contractors as this store provides all kinds of emergency materials for plumbing, electrical, and construction in general. Also great for anyone looking to have a key copy done at any time of the day. I also took some pictures so you can recognize the store when youre passing by the 29th street from 2nd Ave to 3rd Ave. Its not easy to spot the store from the street due to some outside scaffolding/construction work. I hope you find this review helpful.

These people told me they had a part I needed when they did not. I told them I was going to have to travel for about an hour to get to them so I asked if they could set it aside for me, which they said they would do. Even offered to pay for it ahead of time just to confirm. When I arrived I learned that they never actually had the part. I showed up and asked what they were holding for me, and what they handed to me was the wrong item, clearly marked. Using what they gave me wouldve been dangerous. When I asked the woman who I had spoken with about the part over the phone why she had misrepresented what they had she simply turned away. I had other options which were a little less convenient but which I would have gone to if these people hadnt lied to me and try to foist off the wrong item on me. Now Im SOL and wasted over 2 hours to boot.

I spent 45$ on a soldering iron so I could repair my laptop before going on a business trip. Brought it back home to find out that it simply doesnt work, 35 minutes of being "on", and the tip wasnt even getting warm. Brought it back to the store and said that the piece wasnt working, Id like to buy a different model. They refused to exchange the product claiming that the box was in insufficient condition (by which they meant the dust still coating the box from their warehouse). In short, I just got robbed for nearly 50 bucks. Will never return again.

the ponytailed guy gave me unwarranted attitude for trying to exchange something Id bought a few hours earlier. It had not occurred to me for a second that I wouldnt be able to return this totally untouched item and buy a more expensive version. "How am I supposed to resell this?" Nevermind they sell everything in ziplock bags. My assumption that they would give a fairly regular customer the benefit of the doubt was apparently incorrect. FWIW, I will never return not because of their return policy, but because the employees treated me so poorly.

I bought a stopper for my toilet and was promised that it would fit. They advertised it as a "universal fit" and was told that it would definitely work. The stopper did not fit and when I went to exchange it with the receipt just a few hours later, they told me they couldnt accept it because it had been opened. I asked to speak with the manager and they wouldnt allow it. It was a $5 stopper so it wasnt a huge lose for me but theyd rather lose a customer than do anything within reason to help. Dont trust these people.

I have found a store in Murray Hill that has all I need to fix up my apartment and then do a little decorating (and filling the shelves!) We are always in that store. While my husband looks for hardware items to build (like our new desk!) I always find things I need on the second floor housewares department! And now that we have kids, the toy store not only has unique items, but people comment on the beautiful items from the store all the time!

Yes its convenient that theyre open 24/7, but its a total mess inside, so much so, that it took two associates almost an hour digging around piles of unsorted items to finally determine that they in fact did not have the drill bit I was looking for. Some associates are very rude, while others dont seem to know anything at all. If its late, and you really need something, then take your chances, but be prepared for it to take a while.

Nuthouse is my go to for everything. Whether I need hardware or appliances for my design clients, a housewarming gift, baby gifts, or just some essentials for myself...it has it all. The sales associates are very helpful and friendly. I purchased many furniture items from the childrens store for a client and couldnt have been happier. They were so cooperative and provided assembly AND delivery. Its hands down one of my favorite stores!

Very spacious store with plenty of options for your apartment. Whether you need plumbing, mirrors, paint, carpets or light fixtures, screwdrivers and Power tools Rent , this is the place for you! The prices are pretty reasonable for hardware items . I guess economies of scale are working out for Nuthouse Hardware. Most of the staff are pretty helpful. And Open 24/7 . They have everything which is other store dont have .

Long complain short I had a leak in the house and it was close to midnight then I called this place up and told them Im coming in from Long Island. I spoke to one Indian kid on the phone and he ensured me they have what I was looking for. When I got there he didnt know what I was talking about and I even bring a piece of the faucet (sample) that I needed. Basically I drove 45 minutes for nothing.

Yeah they have a lot of stuff and are open 24 hrs, thats the good part. What pissed me off was that they sold me a TV remote control that didnt work with my TV when it was supposed to and they wouldnt give me my money back bc I had opened the package to test out the remote...to see if it worked with my TV...So they will steal your money if youre not careful.
