I made an appointment for 11:15 am. I showed up early at 11 to complete insurance paperwork. I was asked for my insurance card but nothing else. It took them 30 minutes to complete all the paperwork, and it took multiple employees on one call to check on insurance. I told them I wanted just a contact exam, no eye glasses or contacts. The employees nodded and asked me to fill out some paperwork. I was told then to go downstairs, where I found a waiting room with no receptionist, about 20 people waiting, and a stressed out assistant and doctor. There was no rhyme or reason. I waited for about 20 minutes then went bask upstairs to ask about my exam. The employees had not checked on my appointment, and didn’t realize I had an appointment. I asked if the waiting room was always like that, and the employee didn’t really answer. I asked if I had an appointment would I be able to be seen at that time, and she didn’t have an answer. They called downstairs and told me to head down there, as the assistant was expecting me. We did a couple pre-screenings, and about 5 minutes later the doctor called me in. I tell him I am there for contacts, and he has no idea. He sends me back to the assistant, who tells me at that point (more than an hour after I first got there) that my insurance doesn’t cover contact exams, and I would need to buy a package. I tell her I’m frustrated by the package, by the inability to get just a contacts exam (a problem I have not had anywhere else) and by the general lack of customer service and ability to tell me this from the beginning. I’m sent back upstairs, and the employees tell me there is nothing they can do. At this point I’ve been there about an hour and a quarter, being told I can’t get just my exam. They could’ve told me at the start, but the staff did not seem knowledgeable of any process. I will never go back there and never recommend that place, even though it is a block from my house. It did look nice inside.

When I arrived, on time, for my appointment the first question I was asked was "What insurance do you have?" Apparently that was more important than my name. As I waited over 30 mins I watched a technician perform an eye exam while talking on the phone. I quickly realized that this was not where I wanted to be examined and I left. Very Unprofessional people, Very Unprofessional shop.

The shop is beautiful, Very sophisticated. Everyone that works there is friendly, the doctors are amazingly friendly and good at their jobs. They give excellent customer service and are bilingual which helps many. Their prices are reasonable. I wouldnt go anywhere else!

I have been here several times and the service is great and very professional. I am going back next week to pickup my new glasses. I think it is a positive sign to see this business always full of clients, it means to me they are doing the right thing.

Found on 9/25, Coach prescription eyeglasses in beige case purchased at New York Optical. These appear to be brand new. The frame is purple/plum, with the gold Coach chain design on the arms. Id be really happy if I could locate the owner.

My son needed emergency help with removing his contacts and with one call I spoke with the doctor directly and he assured me he would tend to my son as soon as he came into the store. What a lifesaver.

The service is fine, but it would be very helpful if we could get/see the open and closing time of that optical center.
