Cleanliness is not the best, especially with so much traffic in this food court. Its nice and close to the Main Street - Flushing station. Bring cash to try some Chinese food! I recommend three specific restaurants. 1) Laoma Mala Soup (stir fry hot pot type with no liquid): I have been addicted to this style hot pot ever since I tried it for the first time. You choose the protein ingredients (meat, seafood, fish cakes, etc), which are then weighed by the pound. Then you choose a basket of vegetables, mushrooms, and other vegetarian ingredients, which comes at a fixed price per basket. After paying, you wait with your receipt until the kitchen in the back finishes stir frying your ingredients in a mala sauce. In the final product, you borrow a huge wood-colored bowl with your food inside and your white jasmine rice in styrofoam containers (boo for environmental impact). 2) Lis Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Noodles (in the corner behind the up escalator): This shop provides a large portion of delicious hand-pulled noodles. I dont like to eat hand-pulled noodles anywhere else. 3) Kung Fu Tea: high quality tea-based and other Chinese drinks for normal prices. Ask for less sugar and less ice if you think about health and value.

If youve ever wanted to have real Chinese food, just come to the basement of the New World Mall in Flushing. It transports you to the deliciousness of street food in Asia like no other place. They even have the same cheap plastic chairs and wooden fold-out tables for seating. The best part is that almost all of the take-out places in this area are absolutely delicious. All the cooks probably speak zero English and have been making their noodles, dumplings, or congee for (perhaps) 40 years. I tend to try to get things that I cant get in Chinatown - look for anything hand-pulled or hand-cut because that stuff is going to be fresh and amazing. Its a pity I tend to go to Flushing solely for dim sum. It would be great to just buy a bowl of noodle soup for $6 and call it a day. Id leave with a full belly and some leftovers. If you havent tried coming here, youre definitely missing an authentic Chinese experience (Yes, its ghetto and gritty). The best chicken and rice doesnt come from a sit-down place, so why should the best hand-pulled beef and noodle soup be any different?

To the newbie entering this basement filled Asian food court could either be overwhelming or a kid in a candy store glee. Counter after counter of food choices and pictures to showcase it. The dumplings, the hand-pulled noodles, the bubble tea, the hot pot, the clay pot where do you even begin. Well, I’ll tell you where to begin. Find a table first. Scope out a table with people finishing their meal. Hover like vultures ready to snap the table. Find one of those table cleaning woman to wipe the table down. Once that is achieved you are ready to explore but hold on. Make sure you have someone guard the table because if you don’t you’ll regret it. The prices here are hard to beat. You can eat until you can’t anymore. The steam dumplings are good to start. Try one of those noodle shops. The clay pot with chicken and mushroom is satisfying. The fried lobster with rice can feed a table of 4 easily. This is the fun part. Try something different. Prepared to point a lot if you don’t know Chinese but it is all worth it. The battle makes me hungry. Go forth food solider.

This isnt really so much a shopping mall, at least not to me. If you are looking for an excellent shopping experience and you dont speak Chinese, this might not be a place for you. I come here solely for the food court. It is almost an hour away from the city but I do travel here from time to time to taste some quite authentic Chinese food. They have a $13 stir fry lobster dish with fried rice combo dish, ice cream crepes, Sechuan Hot Pot, hand-pulled noodles, Korean cuisine and a few bubble tea stands. You can get entree, desserts and beverages all at one place. It is also surprisingly inexpensive. There is a supermarket on the ground floor that is stocked with majority, Asian grocery. The meat and seafood here seems questionable. They are really really cheap but the color of it doesnt seem too fresh. The fruit and vegetable section seems more reasonable. Up from 2nd floor you will find hundreds of small shops selling from underwear, tea leaves to accessories. It is fun to walk around and look at what crazy outrageous custom cases Chinese create for iPhone.

It is anchored to a Macys but it is a separate building too itself. There are four levels to this mall. Lower level is the fantastic food court, about 12-14 food stations with ample seating in the central area. Dumplings nuff said. Main level has several small shops (7-9) beauty, nails, jewelry etc. The J-Mart is a large, busy grocer market of many Asian delights, fresh (as in live fish) many varieties of vegetables and fruits for Asian cuisine. Second level has more small shops (6-8) hair & nail, massage, clothing (mostly womens) also note this is not Target, Wal-Mart, or Macys style clothes. Third level has a very fancy restaurant, I wont say it isnt for kids or child like behaving adults (but if they cant sit still, whine or only want French fries...dont bring them) Overall the New World Mall and the surrounding neighborhood overshadows Manhattan Chinatown and is far closer to the feel of San Francisco. Take note of stores around the area for future day trips and exploration.

Literally right across the street from the 7 train station. It hosts an enormous supermarket, which is impressively well-stocked, and should be visited just for exposure to an authentic Chinese mega grocery. (Spoiler: they have all kinds of live sea creatures, and some rare dead frozen ones too). The mall also has a few boutique stores, but the real attraction here is the food court in the basement, which should be your first stop when exploring Chinese food in the area. Expect to get everything from your familiar teriyaki, dumplings and noodles, to variously-prepared pigs ears and frog legs. The prices are reasonable - not cheap, but fair, and the food tastes amazing. The food court officially closes at 10, but shops will still take orders for up to about 15 mins after. If you want to sample a variety of authentic Chinese dishes at good prices, then this is the place.

I learned about this food court on what else but good ole Yelp. The first time I walked in I was utterly overwhelmed. My first visit here was on a Saturday afernoon and the place was packed! I walked from booth to booth checking out all of the options and just couldnt decide. I was shocked my Verizon service wasnt giving me the greatest reception to doublecheck reviews for the food stands I wanted to check out. I finally decided I was going to try the food stand where I saw the most people standing to order and my idea worked because my food from "Lis Lanzhou Hand Stretched Noodles" was delicious. Ive been back a few times and will continue to check out the food court to try as many new dishes, bubbles teas and dessert as I can. If youre driving, park far away because the traffic and parking around Main street is crazy...

Looking for an experience in Mall : here you will not find Hugo Boss, AX, but brands and goods from the far east. there is huge food court in the basement level. serves a good variety of food, spicy, non spicy, sweet, sour, hot and cold. Desserts are also available in abundance. Ground level is a huge supermarket. sells all kinds of supplies fresh, dried, preserved from all over Asia. Need a pair of chopsticks or cutlery, you can find it here at JMart. Rice cookers, pots, and other cookware also available. Right on the top floor, Grand Restaurant, dim-sum experience a sure must try. Serves a good variety of dim-sum. A section in the front of the restaurant serves vegetables boiled, or a pancake prepared fresh from the pan. sum it all up . a place to visit for supplies and food from the far east.
