My wife and I traveled all the way from Toronto to specifically visit a Specialized dealer. As Handlebars was the only one within reasonable driving distance we made the trek. We got there, spent an hour and dropped $700 on gear then left. Only when I got home did I realize my Shoes were defective. Then the problems started. After nearly two months they returned them to me in reasonable repair (the problem still exists but I can deal with it). Ultimately, they lied about receiving it, lied about what date they shipped it out and the proceeded to tell me that USPS was incorrect in telling me that a number was missing off the tracking number which Handlebars provided. 20 emails later, with no help on their end I (finally) received my shoes back. I love the prices, but customer service will always reign king. I dont deal with people who lie, especially not merchants. Since it was winter time when I shipped them down, I obviously didnt need the shoes but if they would have been honest I probably wouldnt be writing this right now. I will never shop here again, nor would I ever recommend them to anyone. I just hope I dont need another warranty repair.

A well stocked store with many choices of biking goods, but Very pricey. You can get a better price on bikes, parts, and services at any other bike store (except Shickluna, stay away from there its horrid). I was at Handlebars to find a replacement part on my specialized stock seatpost (approx. 20$) and the owner (bald dude) charged me 10$ for it. This 2 inch generic piece of metal, that I saw him dug up from a slew of 2nd hand useless parts he had lying in shelves, that I can get for 5$ in another store but since the other stores dont have it, cost me 10$. And he said he has to charge tax so it was 11$, but he didnt give me a receipt for the "sale". On a side note, this store definitely will accommodate all your cycling needs with its huge inventory on bikes (esp. Specialized brand), parts, shoes/apparel, and creepy old dudes. My goto place for cheap, reliable repair service is Northstar on Bailey. If you prefer a younger more "hip" feel head down to Campus Wheelworks for track and urban bikes. Handlebars is more of a place to visit and look around but not buy anything. Its a pretty store and Ive been here a few times just to look at new models.

I bring my TREK road bike there a year ago to have the shifter upgraded. What suppose to be cheap turns to be expensive with the labor cost. I cant complain since Im not comfortable upgrading it on my own and the job they did seems to be quite nice. When I test drive my bike outside before leaving I notice that the brake becomes quite unresponsive and fading. I brought it back and ask them if they have make some changes to it. The guy said that they if do make the changes is because my settings is not correct and dangerous. Okay, so I pay them and bring the bike home. Riding with fading brake is terrible, so I took a closer look at them. I found that the brake pads (made out of rubber) are shining and completely oily like they have been doused with some kind of WD40. I call them back to complain, but just like all other reviewer, the result are to no success.

As you can see from most of the other reviews, this place has the lousiest service of all bike shops that I have been to. Bike shops tend to usually be pretty snotty, but this place takes the cake! From multiple trips, I stand by my story. It couldnt have been just a bad day as this is how I am always treated there (or not treated at all...) Also I have been lied to on multiple occasions. Do they know that the internet exists? The sold me Bontrager tires with the promise that they were comparable to Armadillo tires... 2 years on the Armadillo tires, no flats; 1 month on the Bontrager, 5 flats!!! Even when wanting to purchase a new bike, with no other customers there (I wonder why...), they made me feel like I was bothering them...So I took my bussiness elsewhere. Try Shickluna on Hertle or Tri Spot on Transit. These people obviously dont want the business...

My wife and I were recent customers at Handlebars are have been extremely happy with the results. Chris was outstanding in providing me with the information that I needed to get fitted and pick out a bike that I am really happy with. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and straightforward. He did not try to sell me things I did not need, and he spent all the time we needed to put me on the road with confidence and the right equipment. We are looking forward to continued good customer service and products from them. By the way, contrary to reviews which speak highly of Trispot, I totally disagree. We have interacted with them twice, and THEY actually acted as if we were bothering them. They came across as pretty disinterested in our business, and I had no confidence in their knowledge of their products, or ability to identify and respond to customer needs.

Ive been looking for the right bike for about 2 months and I finally found it here. They carry many brands here and I went with a Rock Hopper made by specialized. The service guy there told me my exact frame and explained to me why. The bike is 770 if you order it from the site there it was 700 plus the sales guy took another 50 bucks off just because it was an 08 which was unadvertised. I asked him if he sold any special cage peddles and he found some and threw them in for free. They know how to make a customer happy by going above and beyond. Something I didnt get a Berts the past few times I went there. Its a small place and thats probably why they can do this. Plus they gave me about a 20 min tune up, with free tune ups for a year. If you feel like Berts and other bike places are becoming like car lots this is the place for you.

I have been to almost every cycle shop in Western New York in the last year for one reason or another. By far, Handlebars has been the best. From a proper bike fitting, to selection of bikes, to parts and accessories, this place has got it right. I had the pleasure of working with Chris on more than one occasion. His breadth and depth of knowledge is evidenced by his many years of experience as a dedicated cyclist. He demonstrates a sincere interest in educating the customer and providing them with the best possible fit for them. Whether its a bike, aero bars, or something as small as a flat tire kit, Chris will share his time, knowledge, and experience with you. I have never felt more confident that I was making the best buying decision I possibly could when it came to working with him at Handlebars. He is a true master of his craft.

Not much parking, I ended up parking almost on the street behind the place. No biggie, I guess, it was a nice day. Guy at the counter was much more interested in his telephone conversation than my business. I got the part I needed and was going to buy a couple of inner tubes but I wasnt asked if I needed anything else beyond the part I got and I didnt press the issue; I was made to feel like I was interrupting. Ill get the tubes from the bike shop closer to my house, I ended up here because the other place was closed today. I won t be back any time soon.
