Dont get me wrong. I am a frequent patron of Stop & Shop and Ive never used an online message to make a statement about a store or a business of any kind. But Im thoroughly irritated at this point and if this message can prompt some action by Stop & Shop management -- good. I have an office on North Avenue West in downtown Westfield. Someone left a Stop & Shop shopping basket outside the back door to my office over a month ago. In the apparently mistaken idea that the store would want its basket back; and since its about a quarter mile away and I dont feel a responsibility to push the basket that distance; I asked someone at the store how to best inform management of the issue and have someone come and get the basket. I was told to leave the info at the Customer Service counter, which I did. Nothing happened. On four additional occasions the information was left at the Customer Service window. Nothing happened. Yesterday I called and spoke to the store manager. He said he would take care of the issue. He did not. Ive been sorely tempted to just push the basket onto public property somewhere and transfer the problem to someone else. But ultimately thats just causing someone else a problem in order to solve mine, which isnt fair. So, I take to this page in the hope that either the Stop & Shop management will be shamed into action or someone who is in touch with them will call them out on their unneighborly behavior. So lets see if anyone at Stop & Shop monitors these reviews!

The roof of Trader Joes collapsed last year in a winter blizzard, so now Im stuck going here when I need to get something quick and I dont want to drive. The food selection is actually better than I used to think, but still not great, but goodness what a dark dreary place to shop. How hard is it to emulate some of the more upscale groceries in other communities...and if Westfield isnt an "upscale" community I dont know what is. You have to wonder about the corporate decisions that result in dreary little grocery stores like this. Its as if they consciously made the choice...opted for dark and dreary...Great marketing Stop & Shop executives.

on may 31st 2013 around 9:00 pm i went to cash a WU money transfer the employee at the customer service desk asked for my id which i produced and filled all the information. just to tell me the system did not show the money transfer ready. Then she told me they requested my id and information because they cannot make sure if the people caching the money is really the receiver. I went home and 10 min later I login to the WU website enter the transfer number and told me the money was ready for pick up. It seems the employee did not trust me and did not want to pay me my money.

This store is somewhat of a Westfield secret. Not on one of the main roads like US22 or Central Avenue, being on Elm Street right past Trader Joes is one way there are not a lot of people on line, but pretty much the same inventory as the larger Stop n Shops elsewhere. Take one star away for higher prices than Shoprite - but thats true at all the Stop n Shops.

The reviewer that said it has what you need not what you want was spot on. It is effective for those quick items you need to supplement during the week. If you are local go. But not the place to make a trip if you are not in the area. Produce section is limits but good quality.

The old favorite for folks in Westfield...because it is the only grocery store in town! Needs a renovation and expansion, but still the most convenient when you need a few items. If shopping for the week, go elsewhere as selection is limited and prices high.

The store is conviently located in the middle of town. There is an adequate variety of products however the store itself is on the small side and overcrowded. Finally, the employees are not very customer service oriented.
