. . . . . . . . . . Over Priced and Dishonest . . . . . . . ... I rented a 40 self-propelled lift (advertised @$800 wk) to cut branches overhanging my house. There were a lot that needed cutting and i would also need a wood chipper (also advertised @$800wk). I asked if i could "trade-in" the cherry-picker for a chipper for the last 2 days, as i didnt need the lift for the entire week. I was told by Matt (salesman) , "sure, we would just need to change the paperwork ." So i said ok, $800 is a great price for this job. He then told me it will be $1200, because they couldnt let me tow it myself, they had to deliver it and a charge is added for that, along with "other" charges, like $45 for 10 gallons of gas, Damage waiver and a $100 deposit, plus tax....total $1215.94 It was more than i expected, but i was still willing to pay that price to do my entire job. So this was Sat. morning @ 8am and we were told it would be delivered by 10am. The lift didnt arrive until 12:51. Ok, i thought, i can still cut some when it cools off a bit, as it was over 90 degrees with high humidity. Its the last week of July and a heat wave all week. I soon found out the machine had issues. First it took many tries before it would even start. Next problem was it getting stuck on fairly even, dry ground. It has many settings ,but didnt always work, but you need patience with it. Sunday morning i had issues with the machine starting, getting stuck up 10ft because the hydraulics wasnt working properly. I called their Voorhees Office and they sent a Tec out. He just said i didnt have the right settings on , but he found it difficult to start and spent some time working on it. He changed a battery terminal and said its fixed, but it continued having starting problems after he left. I decided i cant afford to lose any more down-time ( as i already lost half of Sat and now half of Sun. ) and decided to just be patient with the difficult starts, constantly getting the machine stuck and managed to finish in 4 days, despite all the problems with the poorly working machine. So i called them and told them im done with the lift and ready for the chipper. I was told they couldnt make the exchange as promised......unless i paid an additional fee. So i figured another delivery charge and asked how much. Matt told me it will be $800 and i nearly fell over. For 2 days its going to cost $800?!?1?!? I asked why he wasnt honoring his word, as i only took this rental at the agreed price because the chipper would be included. I was simply told his superviser said no. I then called The Voorhees store asking for a supervisor and got the BS" treatment, telling me they cant honor the agreement, since Matt was not authorized to make it and its against company policy to make such deals. I was told a "bs story" about trading a $60,000 machine for a $30,000, as if it was supposed to mean something to me. The machines are only valued between $15,000 and $6,000 .....and thats according to their "used equipment" sales dept., so i dont know what he was trying to convince me of. So to anyone reading this, please get your deal in writing, BEFORE paying for it and DONT just take their word, as it wont be honored.

There is a lot of cheap merchandise in this store and a lot of it is overpriced. But what made me want to write a review is the guy who "helped" me at the register today. Older bald dude, I think his name tag said Lou or some other three-letter name. He was on the sales floor helping a customer when he saw me approach the counter with my purchases. So he came around and as we stood face-to-face, he finished his conversation with the other customer who was walking off to another part of the store. I said "Hi" and Lou took my items and rang them up. He said the total and I gave him the money. He handed me my change along with the receipt and I said, "Thank you" as I looked up at him. It was at that point I noticed he hadnt even made eye contact with me. And aside from him saying the total price of my purchases, he didnt verbally acknowledge that there was another human being standing in front of him. I stood for a second still looking at him and he actually looked up and off to the side, as if he was purposely trying not to make eye contact with me. As I left the store, I heard him start up a conversation with a co-worker. I cant believe he thinks its OK to be so rude to customers but I also cant believe the co-worker didnt say, "Uhh... What was THAT about?" Ill drive further to shop elsewhere. And Im sure Ill also save money by doing so.

This place is the worst I have EVER EVER seen. The woman at the rental counter was so rude it made me want to write a review at ever place I can. This all started when the price was listed as 895 for a week rental on the internet. When I get there and she rings me up I was just about to sign and noticed the bill was now 2500. She said thats the price not the 895. I told her the price is still listed right on your site and she blatenly said "I know" and that she wasnt going to honor it. This is almost three times the price quoted. I asked to speak to her manager and she refused to let me talk to him and said if you dont rent it some else will. STAY CLEAR of this place.

Completely unsatisfied with my rental experience. Was verbally quoted an incorrect price for the rental, the equipment was poorly maintained, and when it broke down I had to drive the old model back in to return it and was given an older model with no compensation. Moreover there were several "surprise" charges I had not been informed of before renting. The staff were rude and unhelpful during every step. After this, my first rental experience with VHR, I will not be returning for future service nor will I be speaking well of this company to any looking rent tools or equipment.
