I went in to have a broken spoke replaced (rear wheel, non-cassette side), and the wheel trued. When I walked in, the dude was talking to a couple looking at a new bike, and completely ignored me for about 5 mins. I understand, gotta make that sale, but still you can say be right with you or something; I didnt even know which of them was the actual employee. Quotes me $2 parts $25 labor, I drop it off, he says theyll call when its ready. Two days later, I call to see what the status is, guy on the phone says oh its ready, I just hadnt called you yet. I pick it up, and take it home to reinstall on my bike, and lo and behold, there are 4 spokes that are so loose that they are rattling around at the hub. I guess wheel trueing and actually looking at all the spokes are different services. Double-check their work before you take it home. Also the $2 was for just a spoke, they reused my existing rusty nipple.

Although these guys may be knowledgeable they look down on customers who are not so knowledgeable. Asking questions seems to bother them as if youre wasting their time. They also have some pretty unreasonable prices for installing very simple items. I tried to just get some tubes put in real quick before I rode over in Franklin park and the guy told me it would be about $40 just for the labor because he had to drill the rim slightly larger for a Schrader valve. I took it home highly disappointed and drilled the rim out and installed the tubes within 15 minutes and went for a ride in my local park. I dont mind having to pay for someone to work on my bike but dont over exaggerate the work involved in something that takes a everyday person 15 minutes to do. I am not a bike mechanic and it was easy. Wont be visiting again. Ive taken my business for my supplies elsewhere

If you are looking for decent work, a good relationship, and friendly knowledgeable staff then Bike N Gear is the shop for you. I know my intro sounds a little canned but its true. Local shops are always the best place to go. I have worked in bike shops and been to many large ones over the years and I can honestly say that the guys here know their stuff. The owner, Gary, is probably the most patient nice guy you will ever meet. If you have a problem with him I can honestly say that you are not a good person. They have a wide selection of bikes from kids bikes to bmx to $8000 competition road bikes. If they dont have something in stock they can order anything and is usually there in a timely fashion. I highly recommend this shop.

My main gripe is that the younger guy with the beard has a bad attitude. When bringing my bike in for a tune up, he was cold and never smiled. I felt like I was bothering him with my needs. When picking up my bike, I needed help understanding why my bill was so much higher than expected. He was obviously flustered and had nothing but an unsmiling hard stare and coldly reported the facts. I was shocked that he muttered as he walked away about how I couldnt see the item that was clearly written on the bill. What a jerk. Hes better off kept away from the public. The older gentleman was friendly and they did a good job with the repair work, but wow would I love to avoid going back to this place.

Very limited selection and the bald guy here is terrible. I bought some training wheels for my kids bike and these jerks had the nerve to charge an extra $10 for the 12 seconds it takes to install. I wouldnt have paid that except for we were headed to the trail and I didnt have a wrench in my car. They literally take about 30 seconds to do. In short, poor service and a junk store. Just head elsewhere to the many shops around the area. Theres a few good ones around that I have been to and liked. Edit: they didnt end up having the training wheels they said they had, so after they tooled around for a while they quit. I drove half an hour each way and got treated poorly for nothing.

The guys at Bike N Gear are great. I bought my girlfriend a new bike and I was really glad they carry both Specialized and Cannondale. Gary was fine with bringing out bikes for my girlfriend to try and he was happy to stay late to get us ready to rock on the same day. I was so happy I recommended them to a friend and he bought a bike from them a day later. Ill definitely be visiting them again soon. The girlfriend needs a new helmet and they give you a 25% discount on a new helmet within a month of buying a bike from them. Hope this is useful!

Great shop and great service! When my bike was stolen last summer I visited a few local bike shops. Bikes N Gear was slightly more expensive than another shop BUT they offer free lifetime (of the bike) service. Chris is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful as is the owner. I like begin able to support a local business and the shop is also very close to home. I rode over there to drop off my bike for service (and buy a light) and walked home. 2 days later the bike is ready to be picked up. Great service after the sale!!!

This is a shop owned and run by bike nerds. (Thats a compliment.) These guys know, ride and love bicycles. Good selection of entry to mid level models at competitive prices. They may come across a bit sleepy, but thats cuz they aint salesmen...theyre bike guys. Very capable of doing repairs and maintenance on high end bikes. Id just say they need to organize the showroom a bit better to show off the inventory.

I am in town for a few days and brought my bike with me. Saddly, I forgot my pump. I rode the 4 miles to bike n gear, which I found on Google, and Chris was more than willing to put some air in my tires for me. Super friendly dude and had me back spinning after some friendly banter and a point in the right direction. Will definitely be back when I am on another trip for work. Thanks Chris!

Im an avid biker, and I buy everything I can from these guys.... They are an asset to the community! Tony and Gary are better to deal with on a customer service level, and the bike maintenance Ive had done here has been better and more thorough. Not to mention there prices are generally pretty good too. I cant praise them enough.

Ive dealt with Gary at this shop for years. First for my off-road bike and most recently for my daughters first "real" bike. For having to deal with my mother-in-law with the patience he showed, he deserves all the rating stars in the world. He knows his stuff and will work with you to make sure you get what you want.

Love this place...very open to answer any questions I have with my very limited experience with road and mountain biking. I use this shop for about 80% of biking stuff. The thing I dont like is that they have a limited amonut of bike stuff on display BUT IT DOES SEEM LIKE they do have whatever I need at that time.
