I came to this dealership with two friends having positive purchasing experiences from here. I was a serious buyer. I knew I wanted a Subaru pre owned certified outback: it was just a matter of finding a dealship I was happy with and the car with the right specs. Ramsey had one so I lined up a test drive for a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunetly my experience was far from positive and I will not be recommending this dealership to anyone. It began well with a product consultant taking me for a test drive in the outback I was looking at. Id like to add here that this gentleman was nice and helpful and answers many questions I had about the general specs of this model (I just dont remember his name). I would like to add though that I was never asked for my drivers licence to check I could actually drive: (unlike any other delearship) kinda sketchy if you ask me. I then waited for the sales consultant. I was allocated Alex. From here my experience went straight down hill and the only thing I regret is not walking out on him when I had the chance. 1. I had a (male) friend I had brought along so that I didnt make any rash purchasing decision. Although it was extremely clear he was just a bystander and I was asking all the question about the car Alex directed his gaze, majority of comments, and answers to my questions to my friend. 2. Alex after asking an (appropriate) question about where my accent from started to go off on an (extremely unprofessional and offensive) tangent about how "great" my home countrys anti immigration policies were. Unfortunetly for him I do not agree with my nations current policies. And even if i did its not an appropriate small talk to make in a car sale. I was starting to feel extremely uncomfortable and i tried multiple times to direct the conversation back to the car but he seemed to really want to share with me his opinions about immigrants and at one point women driving with burkas (seriously?!). To add to this my friend is Iranian it was an interesting and offensive situation for sure. At this point I wish I had told him I had had enough and walked out but I did not. 3. From here is got worse. He flatly refused for me to see the car fax/maintenance record. (??!!) Saying evrything is fine with the car I didnt need to see it and he can just "answer my questions" 4. The fees?!!! Ok I know the law and did my research. Sadly NJ does not have a law regulating the documentation fee as other states do. So Each dealership can charge whatever they want. And at Ramsey they do. $349 documentation fee (most others and from where I purchased from was $249 and many I looked at were usually $299). But here is the most ridiculous bit on top of the doc fee they charge a $499 "prep fee". It wasnt extremely clear what this fee was for except BS. Every car should be prepped before selling anyways and no other delearship I approached in NJ charged this fee. To me it looked like a scam to advertise their cars at a slightly lower rate: but in the end the car is the Same price as everywhere else once you add all their made up fees. Alex didnt really seem interested in trying to sell me the car. He was stand offish, rude, acted in a sexist and made racist remarks, withheld information, and just made me uncomfortable. So I went to another Subaru dealearship who had a preowned certified outback with the specs I was looking for. I felt comfortable, respected, and I will be going there for all my Subaru needs in the future.

PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE IF YOU WANT A SUBARU DO NOT GO HERE!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. I have never written an online review of anything before but I had to for this dealership. I have previously owned/driven a preowned forester and Impreza and loved them so when the oppurtunity arose to finance a new (certified preowned) car for the first time in my life I went to Ramsey.. What a mistake. I bought the car back in February and have driven it a total of 3 months since I bought it, the rest of the time it has been in service. Every time for a new or reoccurring issue. First it was major oil leaks in multiple parts of the engine that required it to be resealed, then the fuel pump went causing the car to sporadically shut off after getting gas, next the starter failed. And this entire time I have had an issue with the transmission overheating and an obnoxious odor seeping from all over the car that I suspect has to do with the trans as well. Conveniently they never experience this though (probably bc the longest test drive theyve taken it on is around the block) and I should mention, every time they fix a problem they ASSURE me that nothing else is wrong until a week later when something else goes wrong. Since the problems have started I have begged them every which way to make it right in some shape or form. Whether it be to replace it with a car of equal value or allow me to return the vehicle and buy a new one or hell even cover the 3000 it would take to get me right side up in the loan and let me trade in for something else but they absolutely refuse. And their reasons for why are even better! I have had both the sales and service manager tell me "its a used car what do you expect" or "we cant take it back bc who knows what else could be wrong with it and we cant sell that" Seriously but it was alright to sell it to me!? Speaking of the service manager, Jim, every time I try to speak to him he beats around the bush or is conveniently out of his office and will try just about anything to get out of actually fixing your car. PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE IF YOU WANT A SUBARU DO NOT GO HERE. There are plenty of other dealers in the area that Im sure will not rip you off like this business has done to me and , from I have read, many others. I now have to spend countless hours of my life to contact consumer affairs, lawyers, Subaru of America and just about anyone else to help me get either a working car or my hard earned money back that I have been scammed out of.

Exceptional Dealership As a woman in her 50s and mother of three boys, I have shopped for cars through the years. It started with my purchasing a full size conversion van and, in more recent years, leasing two Honda Pilots. With boys pretty much out of the house now, I had decided to downsize and started shopping around for a new vehicle. I experienced good salespeople, bad salespeople, good dealerships and bad dealerships. Deciding on a Subaru Outback, I then went on line searching for a dealership with the best price and service. I would have liked to stay local, however, my local dealership just would not work with me. After much searching, I found a very nice dealership in CT and came very close to buying my vehicle from there. However, when I changed my color choice the problems began - availability was now a question. I had already turned in my lease and was renting a vehicle. Having scheduled buying my new vehicle that day, I now had a problem. My rental was up that day and I did not want to go another week. I began frantically searching again on line for a dealership to met my needs. It was at this time I came across Ramsey Subaru and Alexs email. On his day off, he found the vehicle I wanted, in the color and packaging I wanted, and at the price I wanted to pay. He even aided me regarding my rental issue. In addition, I was still a little unsure of my color choice (blue or white) and Alex arranged that both color choices would be available for me to examine. (Of all the dealerships I had visited this dealership had the largest availability). Who has not had that frustrating experience of a salesman promising one thing and then when you come in suddenly there is a problem and they are unable to deliver. Well not here. I went to the dealership the next day and the people were friendly, knowledgeable, everything was as discussed over the phone. Everything and more was provided without question. In this day and age, when ones word just does not seem to mean as much, I was blown away. At no time was I ever made to feel pressured or uncomfortable. There is just not enough words to describe how wonderful was my experience at Ramsey Subaru. It is without any hesitation that I would recommend this dealership to anyone who wished to purchase a Subaru.
