My daughter was looking for a Volvo for her first car. I am from Pennsylvania and I couldnt really find anything she liked. I came across Torch Light on internet, read reviews. I had a day off but my daughter had to work so I took a ride out (122 miles). I looked at a 2004 S40 with around 59,000 miles and Jeff told me he is not interested in one sale but customers who come back and tell their friends all about Torch Light, Also told me that he has certified Volvo techs and they go thru the cars top to bottom. I left $100 cash deposit, Jeff wanted $500 but I only left $100. The AC was warm and the radio antenna had been torn off the rear fender. I was told they would be fixed. Made arrangements to pickup car on a Saturday but Jeff called and said the antenna was not in stock and needed to be order, car would not be ready for Saturday. Explained to Jeff that if I have to come during the week it would be later 5 or 6 oclock. He told me no problem. Drove out hit over an hours worth of traffic and when I arrived he had nothing but an attitude. Explained that my daughter saw another S40 on the lot and she wanted to take it for a ride. This seemed to upset him and he said make the ride short. I reassured him that one way or another we were buying a car from him that day. We decided on the S40 she drove (antenna on original car was still broke off and he told me they put a wireless antenna in it?????) and asked that since we live so far would he lower price and we would buy it as is and he wouldnt see me again. Told me list price is the price and he does not lower any pricing but offers 90 day power train warranty with it (never provided any warranty information). Drove the car home and halfway the ck engine light came on. I called him the next day and he asked if we got gas and I said yes and he said cap probably loose. Took car to mechanic and he determined that the new timing belt that had just been installed by some co. Jeff uses was off a tooth. Called Jeff and he put me in touch with one of his repair shops to fix for free since they installed the belt. Talked directly with repair shop and made arrangements to go on a Saturday at 9:00. Arrived at shop and after over an hour they determined they did not do the original repair. I called Jeff and he did not answer. Since I was that far out there I drove to his shop around 20 miles and there was Jeff with his smart a__ attitude no apologies or anything. I asked why he sent me to the wrong shop and wasted my time and he had no answer. Jeff called the other shop and of course they did not have the time to fix it that day. Asked him if we could leave the car and he give us another car to use while it is being repaired and he said no. After embarrassing him in front of my wife and daughter he finally gave us $100 for the time and fuel that we wasted. Made arrangements for us to come back the following Saturday and told us he will be on top of this and talk with us during the week. No surprise he never called, but it didnt matter because when I left I made up my mind that I was not returning. I took the car to my mechanic and he corrected the problem. I would strongly suggest being very careful before buying anything from this guy. Does not deliver 5% of what he promises. I dont know if I every saw customer service this bad before. Last car I ever buy from Torch Light. I will be sure to tell all my friends just like Jeff asked when I first met him.

Caveat Emptor Over the years I have purchased many cars. Sometimes new, but mostly used or certified pre-owned. Each time it is a different experience, as this last one at Torchlight Motors was. All in all I am very happy with the car I purchased, a 2011 Volvo S40 T5 in royal/dark blue. I have previously owned older versions of this car and specifically was looking to replace one that was totaled in an accident. Torchlight seems to specialize in Volvos and I found a large inventory to chose from at this dealership. I came looking for that car and found one or should I say it found me. I asked for the Car Fax and was given one with a totally clean record. (It does pay to remember, that Car fax is a great help but doesn’t always find every accident or event in the car, more later). I then committed one of the cardinal sins in buying anything. I fell in love with the item before I purchased it. Love is a sin when buying something because, you don’t negotiate well and you overlook your own checklists. So as I said, I am happy with my new/used car. But here are the things I missed: 1) No service records and no last oil change date on the windshield so I had to service the car right away. 2) The front windshield was not original, so obviously something happened that did not get picked up on the Car fax 3) There were no floor mats, front or rear. 4) The rear defroster worked somewhat, only the top portion. 5) There was a water leak from the sunroof which led to wet carpet in the back and a funky smell in the car. This cost $200 to repair as a drain was disconnected in the sunroof and the gaskets needed to be replaced. 6) The cabin air filter was probably never changed, which turned out to be an expensive service item in this car. 7) The car had leather seats but they were not heated (I noticed this but ignored it because I was already in love with my new car). The owner of the Torchlight was straight with me and never told me something that wasn’t true. He did his job I believe, honestly and effectively and I would even use this dealership again. But perhaps next time I would be a better purchaser and remember the key principle that in buying anything “Caveat Emptor” or buyer beware.

Bought a 2008 XC70 about a week ago and could not be happier. Fair pricing and an overall great experience. Will shop again. I was in the process of looking for a new vehicle since my lease was over in the coming weeks. After scouring countless dealerships and coming up short it felt like I was getting nowhere. I knew about Torchlight Motors for quite some time but never did have the chance to visit them locally. Saw a car for sale on their lot that really peeked my interest. Drove the hour to get there and realized just how small the lot really is. Filled with mostly Volvos and a few other cars I realized that I did have some options if the car I wanted did not pan out. As soon as we got out of the car we (My dad and I) realized this wasnt your everyday dealership. There was no pushy salesman waiting for us and we could look at every car at out leisure. One of the mechanics on the lot handed us a piece of paper which had every car and price on the lot. I have yet to find a dealership that does that. Really helpful! Sadly the car I wanted didnt pan out. It wasnt in the condition that I really wanted and it had some slight issues. However there was (now my) car sitting right next to the one I was looking at. We got the keys and a set of plates and off we went. Test drive went great. As we pulled in the owner Jeff stopped by to say hello. Hes a really great guy that really tries to get you into the perfect car without being overly pushy. If you want the car its yours, if not no sweat. Our biggest hurdle was figuring out how I would get financing as I am a broke college student. Luckily, Jeff works with many banks and was able to get me approved! The next day I decided to buy the car and the process could not have been easier. I was in and out in less than 2 hours. My car payment believe it or not was exactly the same as I was paying on my lease which was a big relief. Overall a great buying experience and I will be back when I need another vehicle. Its only been a week but my car is doing great. I would highly recommend my friends and family to visit this dealership.
