Walmarts are universally inadequate at handling phone calls, but Neptune takes the cake. Several months ago, I called from my car as I traveled toward the Neptune store and was put on hold so long that I was actually able to, while keeping my cell phone line open and still on hold.... = complete the 20 minute drive to the store = park the car and walk into the store = walk up to the customer service counter and actually see my call as a blinking white lite on the customer service phone = ask for a store manager to come to where I was standing as I continued to watch the white lite/my call on hold = greet the store manage when he arrived at my location = explain to the store manager the situation.............all while the person behind the customer service desk continued to ignore my call, clearly indifferent if the call just went away = I concluded my explanation to the store manager with these words, "If you look at the customer service phones white lite.......that is the call from this phone that I am holding in my hand!" At this point, the disdain on the part of the customer service person for my call had achieved an Olympic scale and had become more of a marvel than poor customer service. The store manager was appropriately embarrassed and very graciously gave me a 20.00 gift card. Recently, I had a very similar experience with this same Walmart. i brought it to the (different) store managers attention and he, ready for this, argued that there was no obligation on his part to compensate me for his stores poor service. Hey, it is his job to preserve the $11,000.00 per minute revenue stream for each of the Walmart family members. Tried to call the store minutes ago to see if they carried an item I saw at Walmart online. NObody answered the phone...at all......so maybe this is how they seek to improve their adversarial handling of phone calls --------just dont take any calls at all!

Bottom Line Upfront: There is zero accountability and seemingly zero managerial oversight. DO NOT order anything Site-To-Store or let anything be built for you onsite. It will take you *at least* two weeks and give you many gray hairs. Support Mom and Pop stores, which take pride in service and delivery. Prices are more expensive than the Seaview Square Target, Evergreen Farm Market, BJs, ShopRite, Costco, and pretty much everywhere else. It took a month and a dozen phone calls to the store and corporate to receive a table/chair set. I bought a $150 bike two weeks ago, Thursday 6/20/13. My options were: pay full price for the floor model or pay full price for a personally assembled model. I clearly chose the latter, and was promised a phone call and delivery by Tuesday 6/25/13. I called on that day and was literally told, "We have no idea where your bike is." I went into the store on Saturday 6/29/13 to ask in person and spoke to one of the apparently several Assistant Managers. I was promised a phone call the next day, which I never received. I was also told "at the very least youll be contacted on Tuesday, 7/2/13. I continued to give the benefit of the doubt until today, Thursday 7/4/13, and was placed on hold four times for each in excess of 10 minutes. I finally got through on my fifth call, and was promised a return call by the Assistant Store Manager. She literally swore that she would call me back within the hour. Three hours later, I have to drive to the store for the third time to ask after my bicycle. Maybe theyll finally remediate this, but Im skeptical, to say the least.

Summary: One of the worst Walmart stores Ive ever visited. Writing reviews about Walmart is probably not the best way to spend Sunday evening. In fact, I already got used to the fact that Walmart stores in NJ are generally much worse than in other states (dont really know why, maybe its about population density, maybe about people or poor store management - maybe all together). But THIS Walmart in Neptune is even out of "NJ league". I wish I couldve attached photos to this review as they speak for themselves. No, in fact they yell for themselves. Stuff (especially non-food, like pet supplies, tools etc) is randomly spread on the shelves. Get the item and know its price right away? You musta be joking. No way here. Most of the shelves look like "All books under $1" tables or Dollar Tree sales, everything is messed up so much that its almost impossible to find anything. Things are not much different in food section of the store. Most of the shelves have stuff in their upper ends that is unreachable for average height person. In normal stores employees usually move goods closer to the position, where customers can reach them, but not in this Walmart - here nobody gives a f**k if the only bottle of milk is literally 4 feet deep in the fridge on the upper shelf - you want it - try to reach it. Frankly, if I had a power of a manager from Walmart Corporate, I wouldve fired Neptune store manager... not after some time and after probation, but RIGHT AWAY. Im just happy that I live far enough from this Walmart and I wont need to get there again anytime soon...

If I could give this Walmart zero stars, I would. I ordered an a/c unit for pick up earlier in the day. The email that I had received said that the order would be ready for pick up by 6:15. I finally received a text at 8:23 p.m. that the order was ready for pick up. At that point, I jumped on the VERY long line at Customer Service, waited a half hour to be helped since there was only one woman working (Maureen, who was incredibly pleasant and patient). A second woman came to help out in customer service who was the very opposite of Maureen, slamming return items around & arguing with the customers. Lucky me, this woman was the one to help me next & when I told her that I was there to pick up an item that Id ordered online, she said "OOH, no, you cant do that past 8 p.m. NEXT!" This led me to seek out "management," a man named Danny, who continued to walk away as I was asking for his assistance. Finally, he said that online pick-up ends at 8 p.m. (even though I had received notice that my order was ready for pick up past 8 p.m.) & that he would have to take many steps in order to get my order for me, assuming that I would back down and just come back the next day. When I was not willing to for-go the order that I had placed, he rudely radioed Brittani, another very pleasant and kind woman, who came off of her break to help me out. All in all this place is a management disaster. In my time there last night, I saw many very unhappy customers based on the lack of service in the customer service department & Dannys management skills.

Im not the type to complain but Im Just going to throw it out there. The Neptune, NJ Walmart literally has some of the the worst and laziest people Ive ever been in contact with. Walmart should be absolutely embarrassed to have some of these people representing their brand. I went to go pickup an online order that I had an email confirmation to retrieve and when I went to pick it up the item was sold out. The guy went to get a colleague to help me and the extremely unprofessional woman pretty much told me that I was SOL and just to wait, or to get my money back since she didnt know when more were coming in (in a much more rude fashion). I went home and the next day I received another message saying that it was available for store pickup. I called just to confirm, before I took the 15 min drive. I asked if the product was in. The associate goes, "store pickup is busy, but if you got an email saying its ready then whats the point in trying to speak to them? I mean i can transfer you anyway but they probably wont answer"(the attitude was great). It was safe to say that I was reminded why I choose not to shop at Walmart. And for the record, I cancelled that order, Id rather pay full price and not spend any of my money there if it means I dont have to deal with the Extracurricular BS. Target is going to be my department store of choice. Hope they do something about some of those bad employees.
