Unlike a lot of other stores in the area, Jersey Wines & Spirits has a great stock of beers, wines, and spirits in a well-kept setting. Aside from the whole "cant sell beer in the same store as wine/liquor" thing, you could drop this place in Manhattan and nobody would know the difference. They do beer and wine tastings on Friday, which are great if you want to pick something up for the weekend and arent sure what to grab. Theres a lot to like here and in general its a good store, but a few things hold it back from being as good as some here profess it to be. Speaking specifically to the beer, prices are mostly fair but often they get beat out by big discount stores like Super Buy-Rite. Thats to be expected, as a smaller store like this has to rely more on proper curation and a knowledgeable staff. Just dont point out if theyre priced low on something, as if you do they will jack it up once you leave. There are definitely a good range of styles and breweries represented, but the customer service is lacking. The staff generally doesnt know all that much about craft beer; theyre not incapable of helping you, but they also arent going to make anything past a generic recommendation. Dont bother calling with any sort of specific question about their stock. The girl who usually picks up the phone takes forever to check, and is usually unhappy to do so. Nobody has any idea of when special releases will come in except for the owner who wont share much info, and who can be contentious and smart-allicky if you ask him detailed beer questions for no good reason. After awhile, I stopped going here regularly. I still stopped in once in awhile if I was nearby but I decided to give my regular business to Super Buy Rite and places like Good Beer in NYC. Its the little things that can kill off your regulars. Customer service is big in beer stores, where except for limited releases youre mostly selling the same thing. Why would I buy a 6-pack of Weihenstephaner here when I can get the same pack for the same/less money from someone who knows what theyre doing? And why would I patronize a place that doesnt bother to take care of their regulars when it comes to limited releases? Maybe theyre better on wine and liquor, but Jersey Wines & Spirits is a middle of the road shop when it comes to beer. Id recommend going to Coolvines which is like 5 blocks away.

An impressive store, considering the size. These guys focus on quality and price rather than volume, and it shows -- rather than competing with the abundant corner liquor stores in Jersey City, they focus on wines, quality beers, and more specialty liquors. And at a great price, too. An abundant selection of wines under $10, and their prices match up with my mental "this is a good price for this item" list in general.

expansive wine selection with knowledgeable staff to aid your selection, excellent selection of beers and many microbrews that are hard to find, delivery in town for a $25 minimum, excellent prices, wine tastings every weekend, and its one of the few places you can buy the Firefly Vodka that everyone wants this summer. Its hard to shop anywhere else.

Excellent beer and wine selection with a small, but interesting selection of liquor. Very friendly and knowledgeable owner and staff--if youre not sure of what to select, ask, and maybe youll find a new favorite. Prices arent the lowest in the area, but the service and selection seem worth it.

This store has an amazing selection of high value wines. Some are well known and for good reason and others are more hard to find and well picked. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Best store in Jersey City for wine.

This is a nice store for alcohol - they have a wide variety of beer, wines and liquor to choose from. Prices are good and staff is super helpful - a much needed attribute for wine shopping :)
