I loved Hobby Lobby until today. I have had probably the very worst Customer Service experience in my whole life today at the Hobby Lobby in Kirkwood, MO. I have bought literally hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise at this Hobby Lobby and traveling to the Ballwin store, getting ready for my daughters wedding. A vase I bought, one of ten exactly alike, separated and broke at the base. Obviously, this is a manufacturing flaw and not my fault. I was treated like a criminal and/or a stranger in this store. Employees I have bought over one hundred dollars of merchandise in one visit from, turned their backs and walked away from their station as if they didnt know me- and they do! Included in this bunch are Carol from Fabrics and Kimberly-?- or Courtney, and Amanda the very large cashier. They turned completely blank faces to me. The little cashier supervisor with blue eyes, Courtney or Kimberly or something, said if I didnt have a receipt from within one week, they would not make an even exchange. I dont want cash, I need another one of those vases! The "manager" they called, SCOTT, was rude and cold and told me "If I broke it, its my fault," and DID NOT EVEN LOOK AT THE VASE. I will tell you the truth, I raised my voice at him and told him that he was kidding, after all the money I spent at that store and to be treated this way was crazy. This was completely insane. Then, other customers JEERED at me as I left the store. Dear God in heaven, somebody what is going on with the American people that there is no Customer Service and that other people would treat me this way. I just wanted an exchange of a vase.

I frequent this store often to buy fabric for my small business. Compared to other Hobby Lobbys this store has deplorable customer service. I always have to wait 20-30 minutes IN LINE at the fabric counter or (more often) at checkout. What is the point of having 12 check out stations when you only have 2 open, and 10 people waiting in each line to check out? The check out staff is always rude: examples--one male staffer refused to use my 40% coupon on fabric, stating that it was already on "sale". Keep in mind I have used the 40% coupon on sale fabric literally 30 times before at this store during checkout. When I kindly asked if their policy had changed, he said its always been their policy and that I couldnt have done it before. As I was leaving, he rudely stated " have a blessed day". Robin was incredibly rude to the person in front of me today, snarkily telling her to read the sign that says "returns only" before refusing to check her out and made her wait another 20 minutes to check out in the other line. Melanie in the fabrics department has always been very kind and helpful--but that is the only one in the store. Hoping changes can happen and this particular hobby lobby will have better customer service in the future.

Yes, Hobby Lobby has a fairly nice selection of somewhat common glass, metal and gemstone (or semi-precious stone or whatever it is called), but this chain tried to throw a wide net and keeps to the latest "gimmicky" type beads rather than the kinds of selections of Swarovski, Czech Fire-Polished Glass, Miyuki seed beads, gorgeous gemstones that real bead stores have, for example. Here you dont find knowledgeable staff who have the tools, the time or the knowledge to help you with a jewelry project. It is a very nice "Big Box" store but can never replace what we are losing when we lose real, independently-owned bead stores. It is extremely convenient to do one-stop shopping for a myriad of hobbies or decorating, and their sales, sometimes, cant be beat if you arent looking for things that match. There is always a 40% off coupon for one item every week in the paper or online. Often you have to hunt to find staff if you have a question about locating something, but Im sure that keeps their prices down somewhat. But if you have the chance, please support small business where you can get personal help, help local commerce in your community and help local families in your hometown. Its a tough economy out there.

I had a cart full of stuff and waited in line for 25 minutes until walking out without purchasing anything. Another customer bailed about 10 minutes before I did and did not make a purchase. There was a customer ahead of us waiting on a price check. You would think that after the first customer walked out without purchasing, the cashier would have notified the manager to help ring out her line - since it had not moved in 25 minutes! Instead the manager began taking customers from other MOVING lines! And she was fully aware of the customer waiting on the price check AND that our line was not moving. When she began taking other lines, I got enraged. I had to leave before I started to scream (and embarrass myself). I left my overflowing cart and will NEVER return to Hobby Lobby again! It only takes one instance such as this for customers to vow never to give business to your store again.

Customer service was awful by "Mary". She had a snarky attitude and was very rude. We asked if we could do the military discount and she just said "no". No explaination, just "no". Trust me I understand how annoying it is working a register and dealing with customers all day. Ive been doing to my whole working life. But customer service represents a store. And this store seemed terrible. Also if youre no longer doing a sale on an item, take the signs down. Theyve been up for a week.

I cant stand this store. Political standings aside, the customer service is awful. They still dont have price tag scanners (what year is it, 1965?), and many of the employees have been flat out rude to me. Not to mention I feel Christianity being shoved down my throat every aisle I go down. The store being closed on Sundays has inconvenienced me multiple times. I really wish I lived closer to an adequate Michaels. For now I have to shop here.

I love Hobby Lobby in general. I do have one rather large complaint - why do you not have regular size shopping carts. It never fails that everytime I need something, I have to squeeze my infant carrier into the tiny cart and drag my curious toddler around the store looking for what I need, all the time praying that my toddler doesnt snag something and break it. Having a normal size cart would make my shopping experience so much better.

Checking out is a nightmare if you go during busy times; they do not use barcodes (mark of the beast?) or a scanning system so everything has to be manually entered. A few employees are courteous; unfortunately, the rest are either outright rude or dont care about customer service. The vast majority of the products are extremely cheap stuff made in China. If you want longlasting quality craft supplies or home decor, keep on looking.

I went to Hobby Lobby in search if cinnamon dented pine cones in July. Usually it is a seasonal item, but praise the Lord they had two different sizes in stock. I also was looking for some art pieces from Karoushtopher Stark. While they had some of the more generic items from Mr Stark, I had hoped for more from his eclectic period. All in all, a fantastic store.
