A nice looking sociable man greets you at the door. Having just come back from a years stay in S. Korea, I learned to curve my expectations re: customer service back in the good ol US of A, but this is beyond my understanding. I left my laptop for a fairly simple defect. There was a slight wheezing noise. If I didnt have an internship that basically requires a 6-6, Id fix it myself. Its at worst a fan repair or replacement. Also, I had some problems with two of my keys gone awry, to which he told me he would need to replace the entire keyboard. I politely nodded despite the fact that I know that was false (you can actually just ebay separate keys, put in your model number, and wallah, its about 4 bucks not including shipping per key, I pay an exorbitant 50+ dollars for DIAGNOSTIC. Roughly 5 weeks later, and 3 calls, nothing. So I ask my supervisor to let me off early. The same man greets me with the same charming smile, and when inquired as to why none of my calls ever got through, and my voicemails never responded, he said, "I was gone for vacation," still smiling away. Despite the fact that they have other employees... Seriously guys, help America by not letting incompetents run amuck and take your money. I SWEAR these are problems that the average junior higher in some countries could fix for you in an hour flat... If I sound remotely incredulous or overly emotional, I urge you to ask that man if he remembers me and this account. I can assure you he remembers how I left... astonished, stunned, and giving him a lecture on how businesses like this that allege a "speciality" can prey on those less technologically inclined. SERIOUSLY, WTF!!! My associate called me while i was still at the parking lot, and he said, "clayton computers? Why do you think I bought a new laptop" as well. Please dont reward stores like this. He gave me a refund, and that was it. I can barely go to bed if I dont think Ive done enough research to help my clients (im a legal aid intern from Wash. U), and these assholes are taking your money so they can tell you they cant fix it. I apologize for the length, but Im just so taken aback. This encapsulates why our once-great country is no longer competitive.

I went into this store with a hard drive with most of the data (97% or so) in tact, but with the partitions accidentally deleted. I was immediately asked for a 50 dollars deposit just to have some person in the back perform what they called a "diagnostic" test. Literally three minutes later I am told that theres nothing they can do in the store because the hard drive wasnt detected by their diagnostic program. They then offered to mail it to some specialized high tech company that could use an electronic microscope recover the content on the drive bit by bit, a process that would have been time consuming and cost hundreds upon hundreds of dollars. Puzzled, I went back home, downloaded a FREE program, connected my semi-deleted storage drive, then at NO COST proceeded to recover file after file that their fancy high tech "diagnostic" program apparently was unable to detect. "I wonder how many other people are scammed by these supposed repair people?" I thought to myself as I, a mere novice, was performing repairs that supposed professionals were unable to do. EDIT: I have now received a response here from the business notifying me that if I provide proof that I was a customer who had these experiences there, I will receive a refund. As this episode happened over a year ago, I am not sure how exactly I would go about "proving" that I went there, much less that my version of events is accurate. I will say this, though, the free program for recovering files from a drive with deleted partitions is called "DiskDigger."

I took my computer here because all of the other reviewers seemed very satisfied. After my 1 year old Dell laptop started being really really slow, I did some basic self help to fix it, part of which was downloading McAffee. Not being able to fix it and wanting it wiped clean, I took it here and asked them to do it. They instead told me that it didnt need to be wiped and the problem was my anti-virus, which wasnt even on my laptop when it started being slow, but they insisted that was the problem and were also insistent about installing AVG on my computer and removing McAffee. Admittedly, the laptop did work better when they gave it back, but not great. Just after my 30 days to bring it back ended, my laptop started having huge problems again. The people were friendly enough, but the bottom line is that they didnt listen to what I was saying, and I think they probably get some kind of commission for installing AVG antivirus on peoples computers.

Almost didnt use Clayton Computer due to the review below, decided to visit anyway.. glad I did! I walked into the store, and had 2 people in front of me. The courteous technician greeted me and let me know that he would be with me shortly. The theme was constant as I listened in to the conversations of those in front of me. Every single person was praising them for how excellent, and expediate the service was. I had an issue which Best Buy told me was an lcd. Clayton Computer differed! They found that it was just an lcd cable which was less then half of the price! And get this, they diagnosed, called me, and fixed it in less then 24 hours! I agree with Marlon, that review from the angry poster sounds a bit suspicious, but anything could happen. Are these reviews from competitors maybe... who knows, but all I know is Clayton Computer is the only place I will take my laptop from now on!

I give Clayton Computers a 5 out of 5 because Jeff was very professional and I was able to get my issue fixed in one day. On Monday I took my laptop to the Big Bend store and I needed to get my screen replaced. I told Jeff that I needed it fixed by the end of the day because I had to catch a flight out of town. Jeff said that it was no problem and had it ready that same day. My only other option would have been to go through Geek Squad where it would have taken weeks to get my computer fixed and it would have cost me twice as much, so I am very glad that I chose Clayton Computers. I would most definitely take my computer there for any other issues I need fixed and I would recommend this place to anyone who has computer issues. 5 out of 5!!!

In Sept. 09 we returned from vacation to find our computer rendered useless by a hacker. We were devastated to the point of seriously considering junking all our equipment and starting from scratch. A friend, a small business owner, strongly recommended Clatyon Computer from her experience with them. We cannot say strongly enough how much we were helped by CC. Our problems were solved along with explanations of the work done. Since then we have used CC service several times -- to install a second computer and a mutli-function printer, for instance. Personnel have changed but not the quality of service has not. "Above and beyond" is the working standard for CC!
