I worked at this location for about two years, and from my experience as an employee I will no longer shop at the Dierbergs grocery chain. I worked mainly in the deli, and it was disturbing to see what Dierbergs management would ignore for the sake of saving money. There were a couple of times where our slicers were in such disrepair, that moldy food and rotten gunk was getting stuck in a part of the slicer, which we were unable to clean. I reported this to three different Dierbergs managers, but they said it was fine. Well I personally dont consider rotten old putrid food, coming into contact with what Im slicing for customers to be "fine." I considered reporting them to the health department or some kind of state agency, but I didnt want to risk losing my job. If you see something on sale in the hot case in the deli, dont buy it. Except for the regular dishes like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, or mac n cheese, most of the rest of whats put in there is on its last day before it expires. It made me feel bad to sell food to people when i knew it wouldnt last more than a day or so at home in their fridge, but I had no choice, otherwise I would lose my job. Another thing is that Bob Dierberg is an awful, awful, awful, awful man. He treats his employees poorly, and his customers even worse. Ive seen multiple occasions where Bob Dierberg would be in line checking out and realize he forgot something, then makes 3 customers behind him wait, until he comes back with what he forgot. Another time, Ive seen him run out of cash, then make everybody wait until he could walk back from First Bank with more cash, BECAUSE HE DIDNT WANT TO USE A CREDIT CARD SO HE COULD SAVE THE 2% ON TRANSACTION FEES!! He does not care one bit about the people who buy their groceries from him, or the people who work there. Ive heard that his son is worse, but Ive never met him, so I cant say honestly as to whether that is true or not. Try visiting a local schnucks or Trader Joes next time you need groceries, I think youll be pleased and save a lot of money as well...

This has been my grocery store for the last 15 years or so and it continues to get better. Dierbergs may not be the cheapest in St. Louis, but they do have the best selection, highest quality meats and vegetables, and really really good service. This store is going through another remodeling, which is not horribly intrusive but does make it a little difficult to find somethings that used to be in the areas that are getting a facelift. Every time theyve remodeled the store theyve made it better or added more room for something that has become popular overtime. They work quickly, they dont leave messes, and it doesnt significantly disrupt the shopping experience. All in all a very good store, and what you may be paying for in very slightly higher prices is made up by the easy to navigate layout and selection, as well as specialty departments like flowers and fresh smoked meats. Fresh as in smoked in the parking lot. Doesnt get much better than that unless youre making it in your backyard.

Great store, affordable when you compare to the ones in the area. Has great seasonal collection like pumpkins, firewood etc. Decent hours and great fresh produce section. I feel that it has the best produce in the area. It has pharmacy, UPS and a small restaurant as well.

Reminds me of Publix meets Fresh Market /Whole Foods. Pretty good. People say its expensive, but I dont care. I primarily shop at Dierbergs, and enjoy the selection and atmosphere more than Schnucks. Maybe Im just snooty.
