Today I was called a "Bottom Feeder" by the owner of Charlemagne Fine Jewelry of St.Paul. Allen and I had begun the process having a custom wedding ring designed there back in October. Allen was struggling with the design aspects that I need because I have my hands in water all day. I began participating in the process, going to the store on several occasions to design the ring. We had paid 1829.63 towards the ring. Charlemagne had worked on one wax cast for me, a replica of a ring I currently wear. When I went to the store to approve the wax cast, it was not what I was expecting. It has a particle of dust sized old mine diamond pressed into the wax. I began to express my dismay and concern at the costs incurred and the 10.00 dollar diamond chip. At this point the clerk became defensive and rude. I took a break and went back an hour later to tell him I no longer wanted to have them make the ring. I have had many wonderful custom jewelry pieces created for me in the past from Security Jewelers, Silverwaves,and The Jewelers Bench without any rudeness or problems at all. The clerk and the owner of Charlemagne treated me like dirt. They acted as if my desire for getting the ring I had envisioned was me trying to get something free. I was humiliated, and they would not give me my money back. They insisted that to make the wax mold of my ring was worth 1000.00. I refused to leave the store and I called the police after being yelled at and pointed at by the owner. So as of now, I have no ring, and they have 1829.63 that they refuse to return. I have called my attorney and filed a fraud claim with my cc company. Ill be back in Duluth where people are fair and kind and honest on Monday. Ugh

My family has been going to Charlemagne Fine Jewelry for all of their needs since I can remember, and now that Im getting married, my fiance made sure my ring was through them, as well as our wedding bands, and they are everything I dreamed of and more. We both had heirloom stones/bands from family members that we wanted implemented into our rings and they went above and beyond to make that happen and to make it look so beautiful. I highly recommend this store to anyone as the quality and customer service is well above par. We are both so glad we chose to use Charlemagne Fine Jewelry during this special time. They have made it that much more special for us, and we will cherish the rings we have for the rest of our lives.

I purchased my wifes engagement ring and our wedding bands at Charlemagne 14 years ago when I was a relatively poor college student. I was attracted to the unique designs they offered, and that they were courteous and professional with my relatively modest project, when clearly their meat and potatoes were (and are) much higher end jewelry designs. Since then they have expanded the store greatly to include a range of other artists works, including some very modestly priced silver pieces and semi-precious stones. I have purchased a half dozen or so pieces from them over the years, and I am surprised and sorry to hear that others apparently didnt have the same great experience that I have had.

I have nothing but great things to say about Charlemagne. They specialize in custom work and are very accommodating when working with you to create a custom piece of jewelry. My husband designed my engagement ring there and although I wasnt involved in the process, he raved about his experience working with the staff there. The design incorporated a family heirloom diamond and my husband trusted them completely to take good care of this priceless gem. I absolutely love my ring and think they did an amazing job bringing my husbands design to life. I visit the store frequently to have my ring cleaned and love to sit and pet their adorable boxer dogs while I wait. I love this place!!

Charlemagne saved me! I did something really dumb -- set the beautiful silver & lapis earrings my husband had given me on the top of the car, got distracted and drove away. In my rear view mirror, I saw them fly off, pulled over and ran to pick them up off the road, but not before a car ran over one of them, sending the stone skittering across the pavement, leaving the beautiful silver setting smashed flat. I was horrified and desperate, but Charlemagnes amazing jewelers are repair artists. In a very short time, my earrings were restored perfectly, so well that it was impossible to tell which one had been so badly mangled. Thank you, Charlemagne!

I am really surprised by the negative reviews here. Ive done all kinds of business here: we purchased our wedding rings here, Ive selected many gifts here, and Ive bought a few lovely things for myself. None of these items were on the high end of their selections, but Ive always received intelligent and friendly advice from the staff. (Their lovely boxer dogs, often in the store, are an extra!) They have also done many inexpensive repairs to items in my collection of antique silver jewelry, at reasonable cost and with supreme craftsmanship. Theyll also treat you well if you just go in for a new watch battery.

My mother took her 26-year-old wedding ring in to have it re-sized. When she called inquiring when she could pick it up, a man said it has been chipped while servicing and that they were not responsible, but would offer to sell her a comparable ring at cost. Furthermore, when my parents went in to speak with the store owner, he told my mom to shut up or leave and to quit her crying, that she probably brought the ring in damaged. Please do not support a business that is so cruel to their customers.

After using a Highland Park Jeweler for many years, I have come back to Charlemagne for their fair prices, courteousness and honesty. Have recommened them to friends who have also not had the greates experience at other jewelry store. I do believe that they are sincerely happy to help you, no matter what your price range is to purchase or what you need to have repaired. Its nice to be able to trust a local jeweler again.

My fiancé and I picked out my engagement ring at Charlemagne. We wanted something unique and different. We fell in love with a cluster solitaire ring with a white gold band. It is the most beautiful ring I have seen & I get compliments frequently I highly recommend Charlemagne! Chris helped us find this one of a kind ring and we are incredibly happy!

My husband and I went in several time while deciding on wedding bands. We were always treated well even though, at least initially, we were not sure we saw anything we liked. Afterwards the staff went out of their way to resize things quickly so wed have them ready to go out of town for our wedding.

My husband and I purchased my engagement/wedding ring at Charlemagne. We did a custom ring using the stones from 2 old family rings. We could not be happier with the service we received and how the ring tunrned out in the end. I would highly recommend Charlemagne to anyone!

I came here to have my sons watch fixed and these guys quoted me ten dollars and charged ten dollars even though it took longer then expected and they ran into a minor set back. The store was cleaned and I liked the lay out. Nice friendly staff and will recommend to others.
